마태복음 11장

1 그러고 나서 이러한 일이 있었으니, 예수님께서 자신의 열두 제자에게 명령하시는 것을 끝마치셨을 때, 그분께서 그들의 도시들에서 가르치시고 선포하시려고 거기를 떠나셨더라.

1 And it came to pass, when Jesus had made an end of commanding his twelve disciples, he departed thence to teach and to preach in their cities.

2 이제 요한이 감옥에서 그리스도께서 하신 역사들을 들었을 때 그가 자기 제자들 중 둘을 보냈더라.

2 Now when John had heard in the prison the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples,

3 그러면서 그분께 말씀드리기를, “당신께서 오시기로 한 그분이시니이까? 아니면 우리가 또 다른 분을 찾아보리이까?” 하였더라.

3 And said unto him, Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another?

4 예수님께서 그들에게 대답하여 말씀하셨느니라. “가서 너희가 듣고 본 그것들을 다시 요한에게 보여주라.

4 Jesus answered and said unto them, Go and shew John again those things which ye do hear and see:

5 눈먼 자들은 자신들의 시력을 받고, 절뚝거리는 자들은 걸으며, 나병 환자들은 정결하게 되고, 귀먹은 자들은 들으며, 죽은 자들은 일으켜지고, 가난한 자들은 복음이 그들에게 선포되는도다.

5 The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them.

6 그런즉 누구든지 나로 말미암아 실족되지 아니할 자는 복되도다.”

6 And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.

7 ¶ 이에 그들이 떠나자 예수님께서 무리들에게 요한에 관하여 이렇게 말씀하기 시작하셨느니라. “너희는 무엇을 보기 위해 광야로 나갔더냐? 바람에 흔들리는 갈대더냐?

7 ¶ And as they departed, Jesus began to say unto the multitudes concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken with the wind?

8 아니라면 너희는 무엇을 보기 위해 나갔더냐? 부드러운 의상으로 옷 입혀진 남자더냐? 보라, 부드러운 옷을 입는 자들은 왕들의 집들에 있느니라.

8 But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? behold, they that wear soft clothing are in kings' houses.

9 아니라면 너희는 무엇을 보기 위해 나갔더냐? 예언자냐? 맞도다. 내가 너희에게 말하노니, 그런즉 예언자 그 이상이라.

9 But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? yea, I say unto you, and more than a prophet.

10 이는 그가 이 사람이기 때문이니, 그에 대한 것이 기록되기를, ‘보라, 내가 나의 전령을 너의 면전에 보내노라. 그는 너의 앞에서 너의 길을 예비하리라.’ 하였도다.

10 For this is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.

11 진실로 내가 너희에게 말하노니, ‘여자들에게서 태어난 자들 가운데 침례자 요한보다 더 위대한 자는 일어난 적이 없도다. 그렇다 할지라도 하늘의 왕국에 있는 가장 작은 자가 그보다 더 위대하니라.’

11 Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.

12 그리고 침례자 요한의 날들부터 지금까지 하늘의 왕국은 폭력을 겪으며, 폭력적인 자들이 그것을 강제로 찬탈하느니라.

12 And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.

13 이는 모든 예언서들과 율법이 요한까지 예언하였기 때문이라.

13 For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John.

14 그런즉 만일 너희가 그것을 받아들일 의지가 있다면, 이 사람이 오기로 되어 있던 엘리-야니라.

14 And if ye will receive it, this is Elias, which was for to come.

15 들을 귀들이 있는 자, 그는 들을지어다.

15 He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

16 ¶ 그러나 내가 이 세대를 어디에 비유할까? 그것은 시장들에 앉은 채 자기 동무들을 부르는 아이들과 같도다.

16 ¶ But whereunto shall I liken this generation? It is like unto children sitting in the markets, and calling unto their fellows,

17 그런즉 그들이 말하기를, ‘우리가 너희를 향하여 피리를 불었는데도 너희는 춤추지 않았도다. 우리가 너희를 향하여 애곡하였는데도 너희는 애통해하지 않았도다.’ 하니라.

17 And saying, We have piped unto you, and ye have not danced; we have mourned unto you, and ye have not lamented.

18 이는 요한이 와서 먹지도 마시지도 아니하자 그들이 말하기를, ‘그가 한 마귀에 들려 있도다.’ 하였기 때문이라.

18 For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, He hath a devil.

19 인자가 와서 먹고 마시자 그들이 말하기를, ‘보라, 탐식하는 자요, 과음하는 자요, 세리들과 죄인들의 친구로다.’ 하는도다. 그러나 지혜는 그녀의 자녀들에 의하여 정당함이 입증되느니라.”

19 The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. But wisdom is justified of her children.

20 ¶ 그때 그분의 막강한 역사들의 대부분이 행해진 도시들을 그분께서 질책하기 시작하셨으니, 그들이 회개하지 않았기 때문이라.

20 ¶ Then began he to upbraid the cities wherein most of his mighty works were done, because they repented not:

21 “코라진아, 너에게 화가 있기를 바라노라! 벧새다야, 너에게 화가 있기를 바라노라! 이는 만일 너희 안에서 행해진 그 막강한 역사들이 티레와 시돈에서 행해졌다면 그들은 오래전에 굵은 베와 재들 속에서 회개하였으리라.

21 Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.

22 그러나 내가 너희에게 말하노니, ‘심판의 날에 티레와 시돈이 너희보다는 더 버티기 쉬우리라.’

22 But I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment, than for you.

23 그리고 하늘까지 크게 높여진 가버나움아, 네가 지옥까지 끌어내려지리라. 이는 만일 네 안에서 행해진 그 막강한 역사들이 소돔에서 행해졌더라면 그곳은 오늘날까지 남아 있었을 것이기 때문이라.

23 And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done in thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day.

24 그러나 내가 너희에게 말하노니, ‘심판의 날에 소돔 지역이 너보다는 더 버티기 쉬우리라.’”

24 But I say unto you, That it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for thee.

25 ¶ 그때 예수님께서 대답하여 말씀하셨느니라. “오, 하늘과 땅의 주이신 아버지여, 제가 당신께 감사드리나이다. 이는 당신께서 이런 것들을 지혜롭고 총명한 자들로부터 숨기시고 아기들에게는 그것들을 계시하셨기 때문이니이다.

25 ¶ At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.

26 아버지여, 정말 그러하나이다. 이는 그렇게 하심이 당신의 목전에 보기 좋으셨기 때문이니이다.

26 Even so, Father: for so it seemed good in thy sight.

27 모든 것들이 나의 아버지께로부터 나에게 넘겨졌나이다. 그런즉 아무도 아들을 모르며, 오직 아버지만 아시나이다. 또한 아들과, 누구든지 아들이 그분을 계시할 자 외에는 어떤 사람도 아버지를 모르나이다.

27 All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.

28 ¶ 수고하고 무거운 짐 지워진 너희들아, 다 내게로 오라. 그리하면 내가 너희에게 쉼을 주리라.

28 ¶ Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

29 나는 마음이 온유하고 겸허하니, 나의 멍에를 너희 위에 메고 나에게서 배우라. 그리하면 너희는 너희 혼들에 쉼을 발견하리라.

29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

30 이는 내 멍에는 쉽고 내 짐은 가볍기 때문이라.”

30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
