사무엘기하 19장

1 그리고 그것이 요압에게 알려졌으니, “보소서, 왕이 압살롬을 위하여 울며 애곡하나이다.” 하였더라.

1 And it was told Joab, Behold, the king weepeth and mourneth for Absalom.

2 그러자 그날의 승리가 온 백성에게 애곡으로 바뀌었더라. 이는 그날 왕이 어떻게 자기 아들로 인하여 비통해하는지 말하는 것을 백성이 들었기 때문이라.

2 And the victory that day was turned into mourning unto all the people: for the people heard say that day how the king was grieved for his son.

3 그런즉 그날 백성이 도시 안으로 슬그머니 들어갔으니, 마치 백성이 전투에서 도망칠 때, 그들이 부끄러워하며 몰래 떠나듯 하였더라.

3 And the people gat them by stealth that day into the city, as people being ashamed steal away when they flee in battle.

4 그러나 왕은 자기 얼굴을 가렸으니, 왕이 큰 목소리로 부르짖기를, “오, 나의 아들 압살롬아, 오, 압살롬, 나의 아들아, 나의 아들아!” 하였더라.

4 But the king covered his face, and the king cried with a loud voice, O my son Absalom, O Absalom, my son, my son!

5 그러자 요압이 그 집 안으로 들어가서 왕에게 이르러 이같이 말하였더라. “당신께서는 이날에 당신의 생명과 당신의 아들들과 당신의 딸들의 생명들과 당신의 아내들의 생명들과 당신의 첩들의 생명들을 구원한 당신의 모든 종들의 얼굴을 이날 부끄럽게 하셨사오니,

5 And Joab came into the house to the king, and said, Thou hast shamed this day the faces of all thy servants, which this day have saved thy life, and the lives of thy sons and of thy daughters, and the lives of thy wives, and the lives of thy concubines;

6 당신께서 당신의 원수들을 사랑하시고 당신의 친구들을 증오하신 일로 그리하셨나이다. 이는 이날에 당신께서 통치자들도, 종들도 존중하지 않으신다는 것을 당신께서 분명하게 밝히셨기 때문이니이다. 이날에 제가 알기로는 만일 압살롬이 살고 저희 모두가 이날 죽었더라면 비로소 그것이 당신을 매우 기쁘게 해 드렸겠나이다.

6 In that thou lovest thine enemies, and hatest thy friends. For thou hast declared this day, that thou regardest neither princes nor servants: for this day I perceive, that if Absalom had lived, and all we had died this day, then it had pleased thee well.

7 그러므로 이제 일어나소서. 밖으로 나가서 당신의 종들에게 위로하듯 이야기하소서. 이는 제가 주로 맹세하오니, 만일 당신께서 밖으로 나가지 아니하신다면, 이날 밤에 당신 곁에 한 명도 머무르지 아니할 것이기 때문이니이다. 그리하면 그것은 당신의 젊은 시절부터 지금까지 당신께 닥친 모든 악보다 당신께 더 나쁘리이다.”

7 Now therefore arise, go forth, and speak comfortably unto thy servants: for I swear by the LORD, if thou go not forth, there will not tarry one with thee this night: and that will be worse unto thee than all the evil that befell thee from thy youth until now.

8 그때 왕이 일어나 성문 안에 앉았더라. 이에 그들이 모든 백성에게 알리며 말하기를, “보라, 왕이 성문 안에 앉으시는도다.” 하였더라. 그러자 온 백성이 왕 앞으로 왔더라. 이는 이스라엘이 모든 사람마다 자기 천막으로 도망쳤기 때문이라.

8 Then the king arose, and sat in the gate. And they told unto all the people, saying, Behold, the king doth sit in the gate. And all the people came before the king: for Israel had fled every man to his tent.

9 ¶ 그런즉 이스라엘 모든 지파들에 걸쳐 온 백성이 다투며 이같이 말하였더라. “왕께서 우리 원수들의 손에서 우리를 구원하셨고 왕께서 우리를 필리스티아인들의 손에서 구출하셨도다. 그런데 이제는 왕께서 압살롬으로 인하여 이 지역에서 도망쳐 나오셨도다.

9 ¶ And all the people were at strife throughout all the tribes of Israel, saying, The king saved us out of the hand of our enemies, and he delivered us out of the hand of the Philistines; and now he is fled out of the land for Absalom.

10 그리고 우리가 우리를 다스리도록 기름을 부은 압살롬은 전투에서 죽었도다. 이제 그러할진대 어찌하여 너희는 왕을 다시 모셔오는 일에 관하여 한마디도 언급하지 아니하느냐?”

10 And Absalom, whom we anointed over us, is dead in battle. Now therefore why speak ye not a word of bringing the king back?

11 ¶ 그리고 다윗왕이 제사장들인 사독과 아비아달에게 사람을 보내며 이같이 말하였더라. “유다의 장로들에게 일러 말하라. ‘어찌하여 너희가 왕을 그의 집으로 다시 모셔 오는 일에 맨 끝이 되느냐? 온 이스라엘이 하는 말이 왕에게, 곧 그의 집에 이른 것을 알면서도 그리하느냐?

11 ¶ And king David sent to Zadok and to Abiathar the priests, saying, Speak unto the elders of Judah, saying, Why are ye the last to bring the king back to his house? seeing the speech of all Israel is come to the king, even to his house.

12 너희는 나의 형제들이요, 너희는 나의 뼈들이자 나의 살이라. 그렇다면 어찌 너희가 왕을 다시 모셔 오는 일에 있어서 맨 끝이 되느냐?’

12 Ye are my brethren, ye are my bones and my flesh: wherefore then are ye the last to bring back the king?

13 그런즉 너희는 아마사에게 말하기를, ‘너는 나의 뼈와 나의 살에 속한 자가 아니냐? 만일 네가 요압을 대신하여 내 앞에서 계속하여 군대 대장이 되지 아니한다면 하나님께서 나에게 벌을 내리시고 또한 더 내리시기를 바라노라.’ 하라.”

13 And say ye to Amasa, Art thou not of my bone, and of my flesh? God do so to me, and more also, if thou be not captain of the host before me continually in the room of Joab.

14 그리하여 그가 유다의 모든 사람들의 마음을 쏠리게 하였으니, 곧 한 사람의 마음같이 하였더라. 그렇기에 그들이 왕에게 이런 말을 보냈으니, “당신과 당신의 모든 신하들은 되돌아오소서.” 하였더라.

14 And he bowed the heart of all the men of Judah, even as the heart of one man; so that they sent this word unto the king, Return thou, and all thy servants.

15 그렇게 하여 왕이 되돌아와서 요르단에 이르렀더라. 그러자 유다가 길갈로 와서 왕을 맞이하러 갔고 왕을 요르단 너머로 모시려고 하였더라.

15 So the king returned, and came to Jordan. And Judah came to Gilgal, to go to meet the king, to conduct the king over Jordan.

16 ¶ 그리고 게라의 아들이자 베냐민족이요, 바후림에 속하였던 시므이가 서둘러 유다 사람들과 함께 내려와 다윗왕을 맞이하였더라.

16 ¶ And Shimei the son of Gera, a Benjamite, which was of Bahurim, hasted and came down with the men of Judah to meet king David.

17 그리고 베냐민에 속한 일천 명의 사람들이 그와 함께 있었으니, 사울 집의 종인 지바와 그의 아들들 열다섯 명과 그의 종들 스무 명도 그와 함께하였더라. 그리하여 그들이 왕 앞에서 요르단을 건너갔더라.

17 And there were a thousand men of Benjamin with him, and Ziba the servant of the house of Saul, and his fifteen sons and his twenty servants with him; and they went over Jordan before the king.

18 그리고 왕의 집안사람들을 실어 나르기 위한 한 연락선이 건너갔으니, 그가 좋다고 생각한 것을 행하기 위함이더라. 그리고 게라의 아들 시므이가 요르단을 넘어오는 동안 그가 왕 앞에 엎드려 절하였더라.

18 And there went over a ferry boat to carry over the king's household, and to do what he thought good. And Shimei the son of Gera fell down before the king, as he was come over Jordan;

19 그러면서 왕에게 이같이 말하였더라. “나의 주께서는 제게 죄악을 전가하지 마시고, 당신께서는 당신의 종이 내 주 왕께서 예루살렘을 나가셨던 그날에 비뚤어지게 행한 것을 기억하지도 마시며, 왕께서는 그것을 자신의 마음에 두지도 마옵소서.

19 And said unto the king, Let not my lord impute iniquity unto me, neither do thou remember that which thy servant did perversely the day that my lord the king went out of Jerusalem, that the king should take it to his heart.

20 이는 제가 죄를 지었음을 당신의 종이 알기 때문이니이다. 그러므로 보소서, 제가 이날 요셉의 온 집 중에서 첫 번째로 내 주 왕을 맞이하러 내려왔나이다.”

20 For thy servant doth know that I have sinned: therefore, behold, I am come the first this day of all the house of Joseph to go down to meet my lord the king.

21 그러나 스루야의 아들 아비샤이가 대답하여 말하기를, “시므이가 주의 기름 부음 받은 자를 저주하였으니, 이것으로 인하여 그가 사형에 처해져야 하지 아니하리이까?” 하였더라.

21 But Abishai the son of Zeruiah answered and said, Shall not Shimei be put to death for this, because he cursed the LORD'S anointed?

22 그러자 다윗이 말하기를, “너희, 스루야의 아들들아, 내가 너희와 무슨 상관이 있기에 너희가 이날 나에게 대적들이 되어야 하느냐? 이스라엘 안에서 이날 어떤 사람이 사형에 처해져야 하겠느냐? 그런즉 내가 이날 이스라엘을 다스리는 왕이 된 것을 내가 모르느냐?” 하였더라.

22 And David said, What have I to do with you, ye sons of Zeruiah, that ye should this day be adversaries unto me? shall there any man be put to death this day in Israel? for do not I know that I am this day king over Israel?

23 그러므로 왕이 시므이에게 말하기를, “네가 죽지 아니하리라.” 하였더라. 그리하여 왕이 그에게 맹세하였더라.

23 Therefore the king said unto Shimei, Thou shalt not die. And the king sware unto him.

24 ¶ 그리고 사울의 아들 므피보솃이 왕을 맞이하러 내려왔는데 왕이 떠난 그날부터 그가 평안 가운데 다시 돌아온 그날까지 그의 두 발을 손질하지 아니하였고 그의 수염도 다듬지 아니하였으며 그의 옷도 빨지 아니하였더라.

24 ¶ And Mephibosheth the son of Saul came down to meet the king, and had neither dressed his feet, nor trimmed his beard, nor washed his clothes, from the day the king departed until the day he came again in peace.

25 그리고 그가 왕을 맞이하러 예루살렘으로 왔을 때 이러한 일이 있었으니, 왕이 그에게 말하기를, “므피보솃아, 어찌 너는 나와 함께 가지 아니하였느냐?” 하였더라.

25 And it came to pass, when he was come to Jerusalem to meet the king, that the king said unto him, Wherefore wentest not thou with me, Mephibosheth?

26 그러자 그가 이같이 대답하였더라. “오, 내 주 왕이여, 제 종이 저를 속였나이다. 이는 당신의 종이 발을 절므로 당신의 종이 말하기를, ‘내가 나귀 한 마리에 나를 위하여 안장을 얹겠으니, 내가 그 위에 올라타서 왕에게 가려 함이라.’ 하였기 때문이니이다.

26 And he answered, My lord, O king, my servant deceived me: for thy servant said, I will saddle me an ass, that I may ride thereon, and go to the king; because thy servant is lame.

27 그리고 그가 내 주 왕께 당신의 종을 중상하였나이다. 그러나 내 주 왕께서는 하나님의 천사 같으시므로 당신의 두 눈에 좋은 대로 행하소서.

27 And he hath slandered thy servant unto my lord the king; but my lord the king is as an angel of God: do therefore what is good in thine eyes.

28 이는 나의 아버지의 집에 속한 모든 자가 나의 주 왕 앞에서 죽은 사람들에 불과하였기 때문이니이다. 그럼에도 당신께서 당신의 종을 당신 소유의 식탁에서 먹었던 자들 가운데서 두셨나이다. 그러므로 제게 아직 어떤 권리가 더 있어서 이 이상 왕께 부르짖겠나이까?”

28 For all of my father's house were but dead men before my lord the king: yet didst thou set thy servant among them that did eat at thine own table. What right therefore have I yet to cry any more unto the king?

29 그러자 왕이 그에게 말하기를, “어찌하여 너는 너의 사안들에 관하여 더 이야기하느냐? 내가 말하기를, ‘너와 지바는 토지를 나누라.’ 하였노라.” 하였더라.

29 And the king said unto him, Why speakest thou any more of thy matters? I have said, Thou and Ziba divide the land.

30 이에 므피보솃이 왕에게 말하기를, “내 주 왕께서 자기 자신의 집으로 평안 가운데 다시 오셨으므로 진정 그로 하여금 모든 것을 가지게 하소서.” 하였더라.

30 And Mephibosheth said unto the king, Yea, let him take all, forasmuch as my lord the king is come again in peace unto his own house.

31 ¶ 그러자 길르앗족인 바르질래가 로글림에서부터 내려와 그를 요르단 너머로 모시려고 왕과 함께 요르단을 건넜더라.

31 ¶ And Barzillai the Gileadite came down from Rogelim, and went over Jordan with the king, to conduct him over Jordan.

32 이때 바르질래는 매우 나이 많은 남자였으니, 곧 팔십 세였더라. 그리고 그는 왕이 마하나임에 있는 동안 그를 물질적으로 부양하였더라. 이는 그가 매우 창대한 남자였기 때문이라.

32 Now Barzillai was a very aged man, even fourscore years old: and he had provided the king of sustenance while he lay at Mahanaim; for he was a very great man.

33 그런즉 왕이 바르질래에게 말하기를, “너는 나와 함께 넘어오라. 그리하면 내가 너를 예루살렘에서 나와 함께 먹이겠노라.” 하였더라.

33 And the king said unto Barzillai, Come thou over with me, and I will feed thee with me in Jerusalem.

34 그러자 바르질래가 왕에게 이같이 말하였더라. “제가 얼마나 더 살겠기에 왕과 함께 제가 예루살렘으로 올라가리이까?

34 And Barzillai said unto the king, How long have I to live, that I should go up with the king unto Jerusalem?

35 저는 이날에 팔십 세이니이다. 그런즉 제가 좋은 것과 나쁜 것을 분별할 수 있겠나이까? 제가 먹는 것이나 제가 마시는 것을 당신의 종이 맛을 볼 수 있겠나이까? 노래하는 남자들과 노래하는 여자들의 목소리를 제가 더 이상 들을 수 있겠나이까? 그렇다면 어찌하여 당신의 종이 내 주 왕께 더 짐이 되어야 하겠나이까?

35 I am this day fourscore years old: and can I discern between good and evil? can thy servant taste what I eat or what I drink? can I hear any more the voice of singing men and singing women? wherefore then should thy servant be yet a burden unto my lord the king?

36 당신의 종은 왕과 함께 요르단을 넘어서 짧은 길을 갈 것이니이다. 그런데 어찌하여 왕께서는 제게 그러한 보상으로 그것을 갚으려 하시나이까?

36 Thy servant will go a little way over Jordan with the king: and why should the king recompense it me with such a reward?

37 제가 당신께 간구하오니, 당신의 종으로 하여금 다시 되돌아가게 하시어 제가 저 자신의 도시 안에서 죽고 제 아버지의 무덤과 제 어머니의 무덤 곁에 장사되도록 허락하소서. 그러나 당신의 종 킴함을 보소서. 그로 하여금 나의 주 왕과 함께 건너가게 하소서. 그리하여 당신께서 보시기에 좋은 대로 그에게 행하소서.”

37 Let thy servant, I pray thee, turn back again, that I may die in mine own city, and be buried by the grave of my father and of my mother. But behold thy servant Chimham; let him go over with my lord the king; and do to him what shall seem good unto thee.

38 그러자 왕이 대답하기를, “킴함이 나와 함께 건너갈 것이요, 내가 너에게 좋아 보이는 대로 그에게 행하겠노라. 그리고 네가 나에게 요구하는 것은 무엇이나 내가 너를 위하여 행하겠노라.” 하였더라.

38 And the king answered, Chimham shall go over with me, and I will do to him that which shall seem good unto thee: and whatsoever thou shalt require of me, that will I do for thee.

39 그리하여 온 백성이 요르단을 건너갔더라. 그리고 왕이 넘어왔을 때 왕은 바르질래에게 입 맞추며 그를 축복하였더라. 그런 다음에 그가 자기 소유의 처소로 되돌아갔더라.

39 And all the people went over Jordan. And when the king was come over, the king kissed Barzillai, and blessed him; and he returned unto his own place.

40 그때 왕이 길갈로 계속 갔으니, 킴함도 그와 함께 계속 갔더라. 그리고 유다의 온 백성도 왕을 모셨고 이스라엘 백성의 절반도 그리하였더라.

40 Then the king went on to Gilgal, and Chimham went on with him: and all the people of Judah conducted the king, and also half the people of Israel.

41 ¶ 그런데 보라, 이스라엘의 모든 사람들이 왕에게 와서 왕에게 말하기를, “어찌하여 유다 사람들인 우리 형제들이 당신을 훔쳐서 왕과 왕의 집안사람들과 왕의 곁에 있는 모든 다윗의 사람들을 데려가 요르단을 넘게 하였나이까?” 하였더라.

41 ¶ And, behold, all the men of Israel came to the king, and said unto the king, Why have our brethren the men of Judah stolen thee away, and have brought the king, and his household, and all David's men with him, over Jordan?

42 그러자 온 유다 사람들이 이스라엘 사람들에게 대답하기를, “이는 왕께서 우리에게 가까운 친척이기 때문이라. 그러할진대 어찌 너희가 이 사안으로 분노하느냐? 왕의 비용으로 우리가 조금이라도 먹은 것이 있느냐? 아니면 그가 우리에게 어떤 선물을 주었느냐?” 하였더라.

42 And all the men of Judah answered the men of Israel, Because the king is near of kin to us: wherefore then be ye angry for this matter? have we eaten at all of the king's cost? or hath he given us any gift?

43 이에 이스라엘 사람들이 유다 사람들에게 대답하여 말하기를, “우리는 왕 안에서 열 지분을 가지며, 우리는 또한 너희보다 다윗 안에 더 많은 권리가 있도다. 그렇다면 어찌하여 너희가 우리를 멸시하여 우리의 왕을 원래대로 모셔 오는 일에 있어서 우리의 충고가 우선되게 하지 아니하였느냐?” 하였더라. 그런데 유다 사람들의 말들이 이스라엘 사람들의 말들보다 더 맹렬하였더라.

43 And the men of Israel answered the men of Judah, and said, We have ten parts in the king, and we have also more right in David than ye: why then did ye despise us, that our advice should not be first had in bringing back our king? And the words of the men of Judah were fiercer than the words of the men of Israel.
