사무엘기하 24장

1 이후에 주의 분노가 다시금 이스라엘을 대적하여 타올랐으니, 그분께서 그들을 대적하여 다윗을 움직이시어 “가서 이스라엘과 유다를 계수하라.”라고 말하게 하셨더라.

1 And again the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel, and he moved David against them to say, Go, number Israel and Judah.

2 이는 왕이 자기 곁에 있던, 군대 대장 요압에게 말하기를, “이제 이스라엘의 모든 지파들을 단에서부터 베르셰바에 이르기까지 두루 다니라. 그리고 너희는 백성을 계수하여 내가 백성의 수를 알 수 있게 하라.” 하였기 때문이라.

2 For the king said to Joab the captain of the host, which was with him, Go now through all the tribes of Israel, from Dan even to Beersheba, and number ye the people, that I may know the number of the people.

3 그러자 요압이 왕에게 말하기를, “이제 주 당신의 하나님께서 백성이 얼마나 많든지 간에 그들에 일백 배나 더하시어 나의 주 왕의 두 눈이 그것을 볼 수 있게 하시기를 바라나이다. 그러나 어찌하여 나의 주 왕께서는 이런 일을 크게 즐거워하시나이까?” 하였더라.

3 And Joab said unto the king, Now the LORD thy God add unto the people, how many soever they be, an hundredfold, and that the eyes of my lord the king may see it: but why doth my lord the king delight in this thing?

4 그럼에도 불구하고 왕의 말이 요압과 군대 대장들을 대적하여 우세하였더라. 그리하여 요압과 군대 대장들이 이스라엘 백성을 계수하려고 왕의 면전에서 나갔더라.

4 Notwithstanding the king's word prevailed against Joab, and against the captains of the host. And Joab and the captains of the host went out from the presence of the king, to number the people of Israel.

5 ¶ 그리고 그들이 요르단을 넘어가 갓에 속한 강 한가운데 놓여 있는 도시의 오른편에서 야젤을 향하여 아로엘에 진을 쳤더라.

5 ¶ And they passed over Jordan, and pitched in Aroer, on the right side of the city that lieth in the midst of the river of Gad, and toward Jazer:

6 그때 그들이 길르앗에 와서 타팀홋시 지역에 이르렀더라. 그런 다음에 그들은 단야안으로 와 지돈을 돌아서

6 Then they came to Gilead, and to the land of Tahtimhodshi; and they came to Danjaan, and about to Zidon,

7 티레의 강한 요새에 왔으니, 히위족들과 가나안족들의 모든 도시들에 이르렀더라. 그런 다음에 그들이 유다의 남쪽으로 나가서 베르셰바까지 이르렀더라.

7 And came to the strong hold of Tyre, and to all the cities of the Hivites, and of the Canaanites: and they went out to the south of Judah, even to Beersheba.

8 그렇게 하여 그들이 온 지역을 두루 다닌 후에 그들은 구 개월 이십 일 만에 예루살렘에 도착하였더라.

8 So when they had gone through all the land, they came to Jerusalem at the end of nine months and twenty days.

9 그런즉 요압이 왕에게 백성의 수의 총합을 주었는데 이스라엘 안에는 팔십만 명의 칼을 뺀 용맹한 남자들이 있었더라. 그리고 유다 사람들은 오십만 명의 남자들이었더라.

9 And Joab gave up the sum of the number of the people unto the king: and there were in Israel eight hundred thousand valiant men that drew the sword; and the men of Judah were five hundred thousand men.

10 ¶ 그런데 다윗이 백성을 계수하고 나서 그의 마음이 그에게 가책을 주었더라. 그리하여 다윗이 주께 말씀드리기를, “제가 행한 일에 있어서 제가 대단히 크게 죄를 지었나이다. 그런즉 이제 제가 당신께 간청하오니, 오, 주여, 당신의 종의 죄악을 제거하여 주소서. 이는 제가 아주 어리석게 행하였기 때문이니이다.” 하였더라.

10 ¶ And David's heart smote him after that he had numbered the people. And David said unto the LORD, I have sinned greatly in that I have done: and now, I beseech thee, O LORD, take away the iniquity of thy servant; for I have done very foolishly.

11 이는 다윗이 아침에 올라갔을 때 주의 말씀이 다윗의 선견자인 예언자 갓에게 임하여 이같이 말씀하셨기 때문이라.

11 For when David was up in the morning, the word of the LORD came unto the prophet Gad, David's seer, saying,

12 “가서 다윗에게 말하기를, ‘주가 이같이 말하노라. 내가 너에게 세 가지를 제안하겠노라. 너는 그것들 중 하나를 선택하여 내가 그것을 너에게 행하게 하라.’ 하라.”

12 Go and say unto David, Thus saith the LORD, I offer thee three things; choose thee one of them, that I may do it unto thee.

13 그렇게 하여 갓이 다윗에게 이르러 그에게 알리며 그에게 말하기를, “당신의 지역 가운데 칠 년의 기근이 당신께 있게 하리이까? 아니면 당신의 원수들이 당신을 추격하는 동안 당신께서 그들 앞에서 삼 개월 동안 도망하시겠나이까? 아니면 당신의 지역 가운데 삼 일 간 역병이 있으리이까? 이제 상의하시어 제가 어떤 답을 가지고 저를 보내신 분께 되돌아가야 할지 살펴보소서.” 하였더라.

13 So Gad came to David, and told him, and said unto him, Shall seven years of famine come unto thee in thy land? or wilt thou flee three months before thine enemies, while they pursue thee? or that there be three days' pestilence in thy land? now advise, and see what answer I shall return to him that sent me.

14 그러자 다윗이 갓에게 말하기를, “내가 엄청난 궁지에 몰려 있도다. 우리로 하여금 이제 주의 손안에 떨어지게 하라. 이는 그분의 자비들은 위대하기 때문이라. 그런즉 나로 하여금 사람의 손안에 떨어지지 않게 하라.” 하였더라.

14 And David said unto Gad, I am in a great strait: let us fall now into the hand of the LORD; for his mercies are great: and let me not fall into the hand of man.

15 ¶ 그렇게 하여 주께서 아침부터 정확히 지정된 시간까지 이스라엘에게 한 역병을 보내셨더라. 그런즉 단에서부터 베르셰바에 이르기까지 백성 가운데 칠만 명의 사람들이 죽었더라.

15 ¶ So the LORD sent a pestilence upon Israel from the morning even to the time appointed: and there died of the people from Dan even to Beersheba seventy thousand men.

16 그러다가 천사가 예루살렘 위에 자기 손을 앞으로 뻗어 그것을 멸하려고 하였을 때 주께서 그 해악으로부터 자신을 돌이키셨으니, 백성을 멸한 천사에게 말씀하시기를, “그것으로 충분하도다. 이제 너의 손을 가만히 두라.” 하셨느니라. 그러자 주의 천사가 여부스족 아라우나의 타작장 옆에 있었더라.

16 And when the angel stretched out his hand upon Jerusalem to destroy it, the LORD repented him of the evil, and said to the angel that destroyed the people, It is enough: stay now thine hand. And the angel of the LORD was by the threshingplace of Araunah the Jebusite.

17 그리고 다윗이 백성을 친 천사를 보았을 때 그가 주께 일러 말씀드리기를, “보소서, 제가 죄를 지었고 제가 사악하게 행하였나이다. 그러나 이 양들은, 그들은 무엇을 하였나이까? 제가 당신께 간구하오니, 당신의 손이 저를 대적하고 저의 아버지의 집을 대적하게 하소서.” 하였더라.

17 And David spake unto the LORD when he saw the angel that smote the people, and said, Lo, I have sinned, and I have done wickedly: but these sheep, what have they done? let thine hand, I pray thee, be against me, and against my father's house.

18 그러자 갓이 그날에 다윗에게 이르러 그에게 말하기를, “올라가소서. 여부스족 아라우나의 타작마당 안에서 주께 한 제단을 만들어 세우소서.” 하였더라.

18 And Gad came that day to David, and said unto him, Go up, rear an altar unto the LORD in the threshingfloor of Araunah the Jebusite.

19 이에 다윗이 갓이 한 말에 따라 주께서 명령하신 대로 올라갔더라.

19 And David, according to the saying of Gad, went up as the LORD commanded.

20 이윽고 아라우나가 바라보다가 자신을 향하여 오고 있는 왕과 그의 종들을 보았더라. 이에 아라우나가 나가서 왕 앞에 자신의 얼굴을 땅바닥에 대고 자신의 몸을 숙여 절하였더라.

20 And Araunah looked, and saw the king and his servants coming on toward him: and Araunah went out, and bowed himself before the king on his face upon the ground.

21 그러면서 아라우나가 말하기를, “어찌 내 주 왕께서 그의 종에게 오셨나이까?” 하였더라. 그러자 다윗이 말하기를, “너에게서 그 타작마당을 구입하기 위함이요, 주께 한 제단을 쌓아 전염병이 백성에게서 그치도록 하기 위함이라.” 하였더라.

21 And Araunah said, Wherefore is my lord the king come to his servant? And David said, To buy the threshingfloor of thee, to build an altar unto the LORD, that the plague may be stayed from the people.

22 이에 아라우나가 다윗에게 말하기를, “내 주 왕께서는 자신이 보기에 좋은 대로 취하시어 바치소서. 보소서, 여기 번제의 희생 제물에 쓸 소들이 있고, 장작에 쓸 타작 기구들과 소들을 부리는 다른 기구들이 있나이다.” 하였더라.

22 And Araunah said unto David, Let my lord the king take and offer up what seemeth good unto him: behold, here be oxen for burnt sacrifice, and threshing instruments and other instruments of the oxen for wood.

23 아라우나가 한 왕으로서 이 모든 것들을 행하여 다윗왕에게 주었더라. 그러면서 아라우나가 왕에게 말하기를, “주 당신의 하나님께서 당신을 기꺼이 받아들이시기를 바라나이다.” 하였더라.

23 All these things did Araunah, as a king, give unto the king. And Araunah said unto the king, The LORD thy God accept thee.

24 이에 왕이 아라우나에게 말하기를, “아니니라. 오직 나는 반드시 너에게서 값을 치르고 그것을 구입하겠노라. 또한 나는 내게 아무 비용을 치르지 아니한 것으로는 주 나의 하나님께 번제물들을 바치지 아니하겠노라.” 하였더라. 그렇게 하여 다윗이 타작마당과 소들을 은 오십 셰켈에 구입하였더라.

24 And the king said unto Araunah, Nay; but I will surely buy it of thee at a price: neither will I offer burnt offerings unto the LORD my God of that which doth cost me nothing. So David bought the threshingfloor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver.

25 그런 다음에 다윗이 거기서 주께 한 제단을 쌓고 번제물들과 화평 제물들을 바쳤더라. 그렇게 하여 주께서 그 지역의 간절한 요청을 들으셨으니, 전염병이 이스라엘에서 그쳤더라.

25 And David built there an altar unto the LORD, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings. So the LORD was intreated for the land, and the plague was stayed from Israel.
