사무엘기하 2장

1 이런 일이 있은 후에 다음과 같은 일이 있었으니, 다윗이 주께 여쭈며 말씀드리기를, “제가 유다의 도시들 중 어느 곳이든 올라가리이까?” 하였더라. 그러자 주께서 그에게 말씀하시기를, “올라가라.” 하셨느니라. 이에 다윗이 말씀드리기를, “제가 어디로 올라가리이까?” 하였더라. 그러자 그분께서 말씀하시기를, “헤브론으로 향하라.” 하셨느니라.

1 And it came to pass after this, that David enquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I go up into any of the cities of Judah? And the LORD said unto him, Go up. And David said, Whither shall I go up? And he said, Unto Hebron.

2 그렇게 하여 다윗이 그리로 올라갔고 그의 두 아내들도 올라갔으니, 곧 이즈르엘족 여인 아히노암과 칼멜족 나발의 아내였던 아비가일이라.

2 So David went up thither, and his two wives also, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail Nabal's wife the Carmelite.

3 그리고 다윗이 자신과 함께 있던 그의 사람들, 곧 각자를 그의 집안과 함께 데리고 올라갔더라. 그리하여 그들이 헤브론의 도시들 안에서 거하였더라.

3 And his men that were with him did David bring up, every man with his household: and they dwelt in the cities of Hebron.

4 이후에 유다 사람들이 왔고 거기서 그들이 다윗을 유다 집을 다스리는 왕으로 기름 부었더라. 그러면서 그들이 다윗에게 알리며 말하기를, “야베시길르앗 사람들이 사울을 장사한 자들이었나이다.” 하였더라.

4 And the men of Judah came, and there they anointed David king over the house of Judah. And they told David, saying, That the men of Jabeshgilead were they that buried Saul.

5 ¶ 그러자 다윗이 야베시길르앗 사람들에게 전령들을 보내어 그들에게 이같이 말하였더라. “너희가 주께로부터 복을 받기를 바라노라. 이는 너희가 너희의 군주에게, 곧 사울에게 이러한 친절을 보였고 그를 장사하였기 때문이라.

5 ¶ And David sent messengers unto the men of Jabeshgilead, and said unto them, Blessed be ye of the LORD, that ye have shewed this kindness unto your lord, even unto Saul, and have buried him.

6 그런즉 이제 주께서 너희에게 친절과 진리를 보이시기를 바라노라. 그리고 나 또한 너희에게 이 친절을 보은하겠으니, 너희가 이 일을 행하였기 때문이라.

6 And now the LORD shew kindness and truth unto you: and I also will requite you this kindness, because ye have done this thing.

7 그러므로 이제 너희의 손을 강하게 할지니, 너희는 용맹해질지어다. 이는 너희의 주인 사울이 죽었고 유다의 집도 나를 그들을 다스리는 왕으로 기름 부었기 때문이라.”

7 Therefore now let your hands be strengthened, and be ye valiant: for your master Saul is dead, and also the house of Judah have anointed me king over them.

8 ¶ 그러나 넬의 아들이자 사울의 군대 대장인 아브넬이 사울의 아들인 이슈보솃을 택하여 그를 마하나임 저편으로 데려갔더라.

8 ¶ But Abner the son of Ner, captain of Saul's host, took Ishbosheth the son of Saul, and brought him over to Mahanaim;

9 그리고 그를 길르앗과 아슈르족들과 이즈르엘과 에프라임과 베냐민과 온 이스라엘을 다스리는 왕으로 삼았더라.

9 And made him king over Gilead, and over the Ashurites, and over Jezreel, and over Ephraim, and over Benjamin, and over all Israel.

10 사울의 아들인 이슈보솃이 이스라엘을 통치하기 시작하였을 때 그는 사십 세였고 이 년 동안 통치하였더라. 그러나 유다의 집은 다윗을 따랐더라.

10 Ishbosheth Saul's son was forty years old when he began to reign over Israel, and reigned two years. But the house of Judah followed David.

11 그리고 다윗이 헤브론에서 유다 집을 다스리는 왕으로 있던 시간은 칠 년 육 개월이었더라.

11 And the time that David was king in Hebron over the house of Judah was seven years and six months.

12 ¶ 그리고 넬의 아들 아브넬과, 사울의 아들 이슈보솃의 종들이 마하나임에서 기브온으로 갔더라.

12 ¶ And Abner the son of Ner, and the servants of Ishbosheth the son of Saul, went out from Mahanaim to Gibeon.

13 그리고 스루야의 아들 요압과 다윗의 종들도 나갔으니, 기브온의 연못가에서 함께 만났더라. 그리하여 그들이 앉았는데 한 무리는 연못의 한쪽 편에, 다른 무리는 연못의 다른 편에 앉았더라.

13 And Joab the son of Zeruiah, and the servants of David, went out, and met together by the pool of Gibeon: and they sat down, the one on the one side of the pool, and the other on the other side of the pool.

14 이윽고 아브넬이 요압에게 말하기를, “이제 청년들로 하여금 일어나게 하여 우리 앞에서 겨루게 하자.” 하였더라. 요압이 말하기를, “그들로 하여금 일어나게 하라.” 하였더라.

14 And Abner said to Joab, Let the young men now arise, and play before us. And Joab said, Let them arise.

15 그때 사울의 아들 이슈보솃에 귀속되어 있는, 베냐민 중 열두 명과 다윗의 종들 중 열두 명이 수대로 일어나서 나아갔더라.

15 Then there arose and went over by number twelve of Benjamin, which pertained to Ishbosheth the son of Saul, and twelve of the servants of David.

16 그리고 그들이 각자 자기 상대의 머리를 잡고 자기 칼로 자기 상대의 옆구리를 찔렀더라. 그렇게 하여 그들이 함께 쓰러졌더라. 이러한 이유로 그 장소가 헬캇핫주림이라 불렸으니, 그곳은 기브온 안에 있었더라.

16 And they caught every one his fellow by the head, and thrust his sword in his fellow's side; so they fell down together: wherefore that place was called Helkathhazzurim, which is in Gibeon.

17 그리고 그날 아주 심한 전투가 벌어졌으니, 아브넬과 이스라엘 남자들이 다윗의 종들 앞에서 패배하였더라.

17 And there was a very sore battle that day; and Abner was beaten, and the men of Israel, before the servants of David.

18 ¶ 그리고 거기에는 스루야의 세 아들들이 있었으니, 곧 요압과 아비샤이와 아사헬이라. 그리고 아사헬은 마치 한 마리의 야생 노루처럼 발이 가벼웠더라.

18 ¶ And there were three sons of Zeruiah there, Joab, and Abishai, and Asahel: and Asahel was as light of foot as a wild roe.

19 그리고 아사헬이 아브넬을 추격하였으니, 그가 가는 동안 아브넬을 따라가는 데서 오른편으로도 왼편으로도 돌이키지 아니하였더라.

19 And Asahel pursued after Abner; and in going he turned not to the right hand nor to the left from following Abner.

20 그때 아브넬이 자기 뒤를 바라보며 말하기를, “네가 아사헬이냐?” 하였더라. 이에 그가 대답하기를, “내가 그니라.” 하였더라.

20 Then Abner looked behind him, and said, Art thou Asahel? And he answered, I am.

21 그러자 아브넬이 그에게 말하기를, “너는 너의 오른편으로나 왼편으로 길을 틀어서 청년들 중 한 명을 너에게 붙잡아 두고 너는 그의 병기를 빼앗으라.” 하였더라. 그러나 아사헬이 그를 따라가는 데서 길을 틀으려 하지 아니하였더라.

21 And Abner said to him, Turn thee aside to thy right hand or to thy left, and lay thee hold on one of the young men, and take thee his armour. But Asahel would not turn aside from following of him.

22 그러자 아브넬이 다시 아사헬에게 말하기를, “너는 나를 따라오는 데서 길을 틀으라. 어찌 내가 너를 땅바닥으로 내리쳐야겠느냐? 그렇게 하면 내가 어떻게 네 형제 요압에게 나의 얼굴을 들겠느냐?” 하였더라.

22 And Abner said again to Asahel, Turn thee aside from following me: wherefore should I smite thee to the ground? how then should I hold up my face to Joab thy brother?

23 하지만 그가 길을 트는 것을 거부하였더라. 이러한 이유로 아브넬이 창의 뒤 끝으로 그의 다섯 번째 갈비뼈 아래를 쳤더니, 그 창이 그의 뒤로 빠져 나왔고 그가 거기서 쓰러져 바로 그곳에서 죽었더라. 그러자 이러한 일이 있었으니, 아사헬이 쓰러져 죽은 장소에 온 자들이 다 가만히 섰더라.

23 Howbeit he refused to turn aside: wherefore Abner with the hinder end of the spear smote him under the fifth rib, that the spear came out behind him; and he fell down there, and died in the same place: and it came to pass, that as many as came to the place where Asahel fell down and died stood still.

24 요압과 아비샤이 또한 아브넬을 추격하였더라. 그러다가 그들이 기브온 광야 길가의 기아 앞에 놓여 있는 암마의 언덕에 이르렀을 때 해가 졌더라.

24 Joab also and Abishai pursued after Abner: and the sun went down when they were come to the hill of Ammah, that lieth before Giah by the way of the wilderness of Gibeon.

25 ¶ 그러자 베냐민 자녀들이 아브넬을 따라 자기들끼리 함께 모여 한 군부대를 이루었으며 한 언덕 꼭대기에 섰더라.

25 ¶ And the children of Benjamin gathered themselves together after Abner, and became one troop, and stood on the top of an hill.

26 그때 아브넬이 요압을 불러 말하기를, “칼이 영원토록 집어삼키겠느냐? 너는 그것이 나중 결말에는 쓰라림이 되리라는 것을 모르느냐? 그런즉 네가 백성에게 그들의 형제들을 쫓는 데서 되돌아오라고 분부하기까지 얼마나 오래 걸려야겠느냐?” 하였더라.

26 Then Abner called to Joab, and said, Shall the sword devour for ever? knowest thou not that it will be bitterness in the latter end? how long shall it be then, ere thou bid the people return from following their brethren?

27 이에 요압이 말하기를, “하나님께서 살아 계심을 두고 맹세하노니, 만약 네가 언급하지 아니하였더라면 그때는 확실히 아침에야 백성이 각자 자기 형제 쫓기를 그치고 올라갔을 것이라.” 하였더라.

27 And Joab said, As God liveth, unless thou hadst spoken, surely then in the morning the people had gone up every one from following his brother.

28 그렇게 하여 요압이 한 나팔을 불었으니, 온 백성이 가만히 서서 이스라엘을 더 이상 추격하지 아니하였고 그들이 더 이상 싸우지도 아니하였더라.

28 So Joab blew a trumpet, and all the people stood still, and pursued after Israel no more, neither fought they any more.

29 그러자 아브넬과 그의 사람들이 그날 밤 내내 평야를 가로질러 걷고 요르단을 넘어갔으니, 온 비드론을 지나가서 그들이 마하나임에 이르렀더라.

29 And Abner and his men walked all that night through the plain, and passed over Jordan, and went through all Bithron, and they came to Mahanaim.

30 그런 다음에 요압이 아브넬을 따르는 데서 되돌아왔더라. 그리고 그가 모든 백성을 한데 모았더니, 다윗의 종들 중에는 열아홉 명의 남자들과 아사헬이 없었더라.

30 And Joab returned from following Abner: and when he had gathered all the people together, there lacked of David's servants nineteen men and Asahel.

31 그러나 다윗의 종들이 베냐민과 아브넬의 사람들 중에서 얼마를 쳤으니 삼백육십 명의 남자들이 죽었더라.

31 But the servants of David had smitten of Benjamin, and of Abner's men, so that three hundred and threescore men died.

32 ¶ 그리고 그들이 아사헬을 수습하고 그를 그의 아버지의 돌무덤 안에 장사하였으니, 그곳은 베들레헴 안에 있었더라. 그러고 나서 요압과 그의 사람들이 밤새도록 갔으니, 동이 틀 때 그들이 헤브론에 이르렀더라.

32 ¶ And they took up Asahel, and buried him in the sepulchre of his father, which was in Bethlehem. And Joab and his men went all night, and they came to Hebron at break of day.
