사도행전 21장

1 이어서 우리가 그들에게서 배웅을 받고 출항한 뒤에 이러한 일이 있었으니, 우리가 코오스에 직선 구간으로 갔다가 이튿날 로도스에 도달하였고 거기에서 파타라로 향하였더라.

1 And it came to pass, that after we were gotten from them, and had launched, we came with a straight course unto Coos, and the day following unto Rhodes, and from thence unto Patara:

2 그리고 우리는 페니키아까지 항해하는 선박을 찾아서 승선하고 출발하였더라.

2 And finding a ship sailing over unto Phenicia, we went aboard, and set forth.

3 이제 우리가 사이프러스를 발견한 후에 우리는 그곳을 왼편에 끼고 시리아 안으로 항해하였고 티레에서 내렸더라. 이는 거기에서 그 선박이 그녀의 짐을 내려야 했기 때문이라.

3 Now when we had discovered Cyprus, we left it on the left hand, and sailed into Syria, and landed at Tyre: for there the ship was to unlade her burden.

4 그리고 우리는 제자들을 만나 거기서 칠 일을 머물렀더라. 그들은 성령을 통하여 바울에게 그가 예루살렘에 올라가서는 안 된다고 말하였더라.

4 And finding disciples, we tarried there seven days: who said to Paul through the Spirit, that he should not go up to Jerusalem.

5 그리고 우리가 그날들을 다 보낸 후에 우리는 떠나서 우리의 길을 갔더라. 그리고 그들 모두는 아내들과 아이들과 함께 우리가 그 도시 밖으로 나올 때까지 우리의 길로 우리를 전송하였더라. 그리하여 우리는 바다 기슭에서 무릎을 꿇고 기도하였더라.

5 And when we had accomplished those days, we departed and went our way; and they all brought us on our way, with wives and children, till we were out of the city: and we kneeled down on the shore, and prayed.

6 그러고 나서 우리가 우리의 작별을 서로 고한 후에 우리는 배를 탔고 그들은 다시 집으로 되돌아갔더라.

6 And when we had taken our leave one of another, we took ship; and they returned home again.

7 그리고 우리가 우리의 노정을 티레에서 끝마친 후에 우리는 프톨레마이스에 당도하였으며 형제들에게 문안하고 나서 하루를 그들과 함께 거하였더라.

7 And when we had finished our course from Tyre, we came to Ptolemais, and saluted the brethren, and abode with them one day.

8 그리고 다음 날 바울의 일행이었던 우리는 떠나서 카이사랴에 당도하였더라. 그런 다음에 우리는 일곱 명 중 하나인 복음 전도자 빌립의 집 안으로 들어갔으며 그와 함께 거하였더라.

8 And the next day we that were of Paul's company departed, and came unto Caesarea: and we entered into the house of Philip the evangelist, which was one of the seven; and abode with him.

9 그리고 바로 그 남자에게 처녀들이며 예언을 하던 네 명의 딸들이 있었더라.

9 And the same man had four daughters, virgins, which did prophesy.

10 또한 우리가 거기에 여러 날들을 머무는 동안, 아가부스란 이름으로 불리는 어떤 예언자 한 명이 유대에서 내려왔더라.

10 And as we tarried there many days, there came down from Judaea a certain prophet, named Agabus.

11 그리고 그가 우리에게 왔을 때 그는 바울의 허리띠를 가져다가 자기 자신의 두 손과 두 발을 묶고 말하기를, “성령님께서 이와 같이 말씀하시나니, ‘유대인들이 예루살렘에서 이 허리띠를 소유한 남자를 그렇게 결박할 것이요, 이방인들의 손안에 그를 넘겨줄 것이라.’ 하시나이다.” 하였더라.

11 And when he was come unto us, he took Paul's girdle, and bound his own hands and feet, and said, Thus saith the Holy Ghost, So shall the Jews at Jerusalem bind the man that owneth this girdle, and shall deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles.

12 이에 우리가 이런 것들을 듣자 우리와 그 장소에 있던 자들 모두가 그에게 예루살렘으로 올라가지 말라고 간청하였더라.

12 And when we heard these things, both we, and they of that place, besought him not to go up to Jerusalem.

13 그때 바울이 대답하기를, “너희가 울며 나의 마음을 찢으니 어찌 된 영문이냐? 이는 주 예수의 이름을 위해서라면 내가 결박당할 뿐 아니라 예루살렘에서 죽을 준비도 되어 있기 때문이라.” 하였더라.

13 Then Paul answered, What mean ye to weep and to break mine heart? for I am ready not to be bound only, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.

14 그리하여 그가 권유를 받아들이려 하지 아니하자 우리는 중단하며 말하기를, “주의 뜻이 이루어지기를 바라나이다.” 하였더라.

14 And when he would not be persuaded, we ceased, saying, The will of the Lord be done.

15 그리하여 그날들 후에 우리는 우리의 수하물들을 챙겨서 예루살렘으로 올라갔더라.

15 And after those days we took up our carriages, and went up to Jerusalem.

16 카이사랴의 제자들 중 몇몇 역시 거기서 우리와 함께 갔으며 사이프러스의 므나손이라 하는 오랜 제자 한 명을 그들과 함께 데려왔는데 그와 함께 우리가 묵어야 했더라.

16 There went with us also certain of the disciples of Caesarea, and brought with them one Mnason of Cyprus, an old disciple, with whom we should lodge.

17 그리고 우리가 예루살렘에 도착하자 형제들이 우리를 반갑게 받아들였더라.

17 And when we were come to Jerusalem, the brethren received us gladly.

18 그러자 이튿날 바울이 우리와 함께 야고보에게로 들어갔으니, 모든 장로들도 참석하였더라.

18 And the day following Paul went in with us unto James; and all the elders were present.

19 그리고 바울이 그들에게 문안한 후에 그는 하나님께서 그의 사역을 통하여 이방인들 사이에서 역사하신 것들이 무엇인지 자세하게 알려주었더라.

19 And when he had saluted them, he declared particularly what things God had wrought among the Gentiles by his ministry.

20 그리하여 그들이 그것을 들었을 때 그들은 주를 영화롭게 하였고 그에게 이같이 말하였더라. “형제여, 그대도 알다시피 유대인들 중 믿는 자들이 수천이 있는데 그들은 율법에 모두 열심이로다.

20 And when they heard it, they glorified the Lord, and said unto him, Thou seest, brother, how many thousands of Jews there are which believe; and they are all zealous of the law:

21 그리고 그들이 그대에 관하여 전해 듣기로는 그대가 이방인들 사이에 있는 모든 유대인들에게 모세를 저버리라고 가르치며 그들이 그들의 자녀들에게 마땅히 할례를 행해서는 안 된다 하고 관례들에 따라 살아가지 말라고 한다 하였도다.

21 And they are informed of thee, that thou teachest all the Jews which are among the Gentiles to forsake Moses, saying that they ought not to circumcise their children, neither to walk after the customs.

22 그러므로 어찌하면 좋겠는가? 무리는 반드시 필연적으로 함께 올 것이라. 이는 그들이 그대가 온 것을 들을 것이기 때문이라.

22 What is it therefore? the multitude must needs come together: for they will hear that thou art come.

23 그러므로 우리가 그대에게 말하는 이것을 하라. 우리에게는 자신들에게 어떤 서원을 한 네 명의 남자들이 있도다.

23 Do therefore this that we say to thee: We have four men which have a vow on them;

24 그들을 데려가서 그들과 함께 그대 자신을 정화하고 그들이 자신들의 머리를 밀 수 있도록 그들과 함께 경비들을 대라. 그리하면 모두가 그런 것들, 곧 그들이 그대에 관하여 전해 들은 것들이 아무것도 아니고 오히려 그대 자신도 질서 있게 살아가며 율법을 지킨다는 것을 알리라.

24 Them take, and purify thyself with them, and be at charges with them, that they may shave their heads: and all may know that those things, whereof they were informed concerning thee, are nothing; but that thou thyself also walkest orderly, and keepest the law.

25 믿는 이방인들과 관련해서는 그들이 그러한 것을 전혀 준수하지 않아도 된다고 우리가 기록하고 결론을 내렸으니, 오직 우상들에게 바쳐진 것들과 피와 목매어 죽은 것들과 음행으로부터 자신들을 지키라고만 하였노라.”

25 As touching the Gentiles which believe, we have written and concluded that they observe no such thing, save only that they keep themselves from things offered to idols, and from blood, and from strangled, and from fornication.

26 그때 바울이 사람들을 데려갔고 다음 날 그들과 함께 스스로를 정화하기 위하여 성전으로 들어갔으니, 그들 각자를 위하여 제물이 바쳐질 때까지 정화 의식의 날들이 다 찼음을 표명하였더라.

26 Then Paul took the men, and the next day purifying himself with them entered into the temple, to signify the accomplishment of the days of purification, until that an offering should be offered for every one of them.

27 그리고 그 칠 일이 거의 끝났을 때 아시아에서 온 유대인들이 그가 성전 안에 있음을 보고는 그들이 온 백성을 충동질하여 그에게 손을 대며

27 And when the seven days were almost ended, the Jews which were of Asia, when they saw him in the temple, stirred up all the people, and laid hands on him,

28 소리질렀더라. “이스라엘의 남자들아, 도우라. 이 자는 곳곳마다 백성과 율법과 이 장소를 대적하여 모든 사람들을 가르친 사람이라. 그리고 더욱이 헬라인들도 성전으로 데려왔고 이 거룩한 장소를 오염시켰도다.”

28 Crying out, Men of Israel, help: This is the man, that teacheth all men every where against the people, and the law, and this place: and further brought Greeks also into the temple, and hath polluted this holy place.

29 (이는 그들이 이전에 도시 안에서 에베소인인 트로피무스가 그와 함께 있음을 보았기에 그들은 바울이 성전으로 그를 데려온 줄로 짐작하였기 때문이라.)

29 (For they had seen before with him in the city Trophimus an Ephesian, whom they supposed that Paul had brought into the temple.)

30 그러자 온 도시가 동요하였고 백성이 함께 달려들었더라. 그리고 그들이 바울을 잡아 그를 성전에서 끌어내었으니, 곧바로 문들이 닫혔더라.

30 And all the city was moved, and the people ran together: and they took Paul, and drew him out of the temple: and forthwith the doors were shut.

31 그리하여 그들이 그를 막 죽이려고 할 때에 부대의 총대장에게 소식들이 도착하였으니, 온 예루살렘이 소동 가운데 있다는 것이라.

31 And as they went about to kill him, tidings came unto the chief captain of the band, that all Jerusalem was in an uproar.

32 그가 즉시 군인들과 백부장들을 데리고 그들에게 달려 내려갔더라. 그리고 그들이 총대장과 군인들을 보자 그들은 바울을 때리는 것을 그만두었더라.

32 Who immediately took soldiers and centurions, and ran down unto them: and when they saw the chief captain and the soldiers, they left beating of Paul.

33 그때 총대장이 가까이 왔고 그를 데려가서 그가 두 사슬에 결박되도록 명령하였더라. 그러고 나서 그가 누구인지 그리고 그가 무엇을 하였는지 문책하였더라.

33 Then the chief captain came near, and took him, and commanded him to be bound with two chains; and demanded who he was, and what he had done.

34 그러자 무리 가운데서 어떤 이들은 한 가지를 외쳤고 어떤 이들은 또 다른 것을 외쳤더라. 그리고 그가 소란으로 인하여 그 실상을 알 수 없게 되자 그는 그가 성채 안으로 옮겨지도록 명령하였더라.

34 And some cried one thing, some another, among the multitude: and when he could not know the certainty for the tumult, he commanded him to be carried into the castle.

35 그러자 그가 계단들 위에 다다랐을 때 그러한 일이 있었으니, 그가 백성의 폭력으로 인하여 군인들에게 들쳐 업혔더라.

35 And when he came upon the stairs, so it was, that he was borne of the soldiers for the violence of the people.

36 이는 무리가 “그를 없애 버리라.” 하고 외치며 뒤따랐기 때문이라.

36 For the multitude of the people followed after, crying, Away with him.

37 그리하여 바울이 성채 안으로 끌려가는 동안 그가 총대장에게 말하기를, “제가 당신께 말씀드려도 되겠나이까?” 하니, 그가 이같이 말하였더라. “네가 헬라어를 할 수 있느냐?

37 And as Paul was to be led into the castle, he said unto the chief captain, May I speak unto thee? Who said, Canst thou speak Greek?

38 네가 이날들 이전에 소동을 일으켜 살인자들이었던 사천 명의 남자들을 이끌고 광야로 나간 그 이집트인이 아니냐?”

38 Art not thou that Egyptian, which before these days madest an uproar, and leddest out into the wilderness four thousand men that were murderers?

39 그러나 바울이 말하기를, “저는 실리시아의 도시인 타르수스 출신 유대인 남자요, 결코 시시하지 않은 도시의 시민이니이다. 그런즉 제가 당신께 간청하오니, 제가 백성에게 연설하는 것을 승낙해 주소서.” 하였더라.

39 But Paul said, I am a man which am a Jew of Tarsus, a city in Cilicia, a citizen of no mean city: and, I beseech thee, suffer me to speak unto the people.

40 그리하여 그가 그에게 발언권을 주자 바울이 계단들 위에 섰고 백성에게 손으로 신호를 보냈더라. 이에 무거운 정적이 흐르자 그는 히브리어로 그들에게 이같이 일러 말하였더라.

40 And when he had given him licence, Paul stood on the stairs, and beckoned with the hand unto the people. And when there was made a great silence, he spake unto them in the Hebrew tongue, saying,
