로마서 13장

1 모든 혼은 저마다 더 높은 권세들에게 복종할지어다. 이는 하나님께로부터 나오지 아니하는 어떤 권세도 없기 때문이니, 지금 존재하는 권세들은 하나님께로부터 임명된 것이라.

1 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.

2 그러므로 누구든지 권세에 저항하는 자는 하나님의 법령에 저항하는 것이라. 그런즉 저항하는 자들은 스스로 단죄를 받으리라.

2 Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.

3 이는 치리자들이 선한 행위들에 대해 공포가 되는 것이 아니요, 오직 악에 대해서만 공포가 되기 때문이라. 그렇다면 너는 권세를 무서워하지 않기를 원하느냐? 선한 것을 행하라. 그리하면 너는 그 동일한 자에게 찬사를 받으리라.

3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same:

4 이는 그가 너에게는 선을 이루기 위한 하나님의 사역자이기 때문이라. 그러나 만일 네가 악한 것을 행한다면 무서워하라. 이는 그가 헛되이 칼을 차고 있지 않기 때문이니, 그가 하나님을 섬기는 자요, 악을 행하는 자 위에 진노를 집행하기 위한 보복자이기 때문이라.

4 For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.

5 이런 이유로 너희가 반드시 복종해야 할 필요가 있나니, 진노 때문만이 아니라 양심을 위한 것이기도 하니라.

5 Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake.

6 이는 이런 까닭에 너희가 공세도 내기 때문이니, 그들이 하나님의 사역자들이요, 바로 이 일에 꾸준히 집중하고 있기 때문이라.

6 For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God's ministers, attending continually upon this very thing.

7 그러므로 모든 사람들에게 그들이 마땅히 지급받아야 할 것들을 납부하라. 공세를 받아야 할 자에게 공세를, 관세를 받아야 할 자에게 관세를 납부하라. 두려워해야 할 자를 두려워하고 존경해야 할 자를 존경하라.

7 Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.

8 서로 사랑하는 것 외에는 어떤 사람에게든 아무것도 빚지지 말라. 이는 다른 사람을 사랑하는 자는 율법을 성취하였기 때문이라.

8 Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.

9 이는 이것, 곧 “너는 간음하지 말지니라. 너는 살인하지 말지니라. 너는 도둑질하지 말지니라. 너는 거짓 증거하지 말지니라. 너는 탐내지 말지니라.” 한 것과, 혹 어떤 다른 명령이 있다 하더라도 그것은 간략하게 이 말씀으로 함축될 수 있기 때문이니, 다시 말하자면, “너는 너의 이웃을 너 자신과 같이 사랑하라.” 하신 것이라.

9 For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

10 사랑은 자신의 이웃에게 전혀 해를 끼치지 아니하느니라. 그러므로 사랑은 율법을 성취하는 것이라.

10 Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

11 그리고 때를 아나니, 지금이야말로 잠에서 깨어나야 할 무르익은 때라. 이는 지금이 우리가 믿었을 때보다 우리의 구원이 더 가깝기 때문이라.

11 And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.

12 밤이 한참 지났고 낮이 가깝도다. 그러므로 우리가 어둠의 행위들을 벗어 던지자. 그리고 우리가 빛의 갑옷을 입자.

12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.

13 우리가 낮일 때와 같이 정직하게 살아가자. 흥청망청함과 술 취함 가운데 살아가지 말고, 불륜과 음욕 가운데 살아가지 말며, 분쟁과 시기 가운데 살아가지 말자.

13 Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.

14 오직 너희는 주 예수 그리스도로 옷 입으라. 그리고 육신의 정욕들을 실현하려고 육신을 위해 기회를 제공하지 말라.

14 But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.
