로마서 4장

1 그렇다면 우리의 조상 아브라함이 육체와 관련하여 무엇을 얻었다고 우리가 말하겠느냐?

1 What shall we say then that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh, hath found?

2 이는 만일 아브라함이 행위들로 정당함을 입증받았다면 그가 그것으로 자랑할 것이 있겠지만 하나님 앞에서는 없기 때문이라.

2 For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God.

3 그러므로 성경 기록은 무엇이라 말하느냐? “아브라함이 하나님을 믿었더니, 그것이 그에게 의로 여겨졌느니라.” 하느니라.

3 For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.

4 이제 일하는 자에게 삯은 은혜로 간주되지 아니하고 다만 빚으로 간주되느니라.

4 Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.

5 그러나 일하지 아니하더라도 불경건한 자의 정당함을 입증하시는 분을 믿는 자는 그의 믿음이 의로 여겨지느니라.

5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.

6 곧, 행위들 없이 하나님께서 의를 전가하시는 사람의 복을 다윗 또한 묘사하는 것과 같으니

6 Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works,

7 말하기를, “죄악들이 용서되고 죄들이 가려진 자들은 복되도다.

7 Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.

8 주께서 그에게 죄를 전가하지 아니하실 사람은 복되도다.” 하였도다.

8 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.

9 그렇다면 이 복이 할례자에게만 임하느냐, 아니면 무할례자에게도 임하느냐? 이는 우리가 아브라함에게 믿음이 의로 간주되었다고 말하기 때문이라.

9 Cometh this blessedness then upon the circumcision only, or upon the uncircumcision also? for we say that faith was reckoned to Abraham for righteousness.

10 그렇다면 어떻게 그 믿음이 의로 간주되었느냐? 그가 할례자로 있었을 때냐, 아니면 무할례자로 있었을 때냐? 할례자로 있었을 때가 아니라 다만 무할례자로 있었을 때라.

10 How was it then reckoned? when he was in circumcision, or in uncircumcision? Not in circumcision, but in uncircumcision.

11 그런 다음에 그가 믿음에서 나온 의의 인장, 곧 할례의 표적을 받았으니, 그 믿음은 그가 아직 할례받지 아니하였을 때 소유했던 것이라. 이는 그로 하여금 믿는 자들 모두의 조상이 되도록 하셨으니, 비록 그들이 할례받지 아니하였음에도 그리하셨느니라. 이는 의가 그들에게도 전가되게 하려 하심이라.

11 And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had yet being uncircumcised: that he might be the father of all them that believe, though they be not circumcised; that righteousness might be imputed unto them also:

12 또한 할례의 조상이 되도록 하셨으니 할례에 속한 자들에게뿐만 아니라 아직 우리 조상 아브라함이 할례받지 않았을 때 소유한 그 믿음의 발걸음들을 따라 살아가는 자들에게도 그러하니라.

12 And the father of circumcision to them who are not of the circumcision only, but who also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Abraham, which he had being yet uncircumcised.

13 이는 그가 세상의 상속자가 되리라는 그 약속이 아브라함에게나 그의 씨에게 주어진 것은 율법을 통한 것이 아니요, 오직 믿음의 의를 통한 것이기 때문이라.

13 For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.

14 이는 만일 율법에 속한 자들이 상속자들이 된다면 믿음은 헛된 것이 되며 그 약속은 아무 효력이 없게 되기 때문이라.

14 For if they which are of the law be heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of none effect:

15 이는 율법이 진노를 일으키기 때문이니, 율법이 없는 곳에는 불법도 전혀 없기 때문이라.

15 Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression.

16 그러므로 그 약속이 은혜로 인한 것이 되게 하시려고 그 약속을 믿음에 속하게 하신 것이라. 그 취지는 그 씨 전체에게 그 약속을 확실하게 하시려는 것이니, 율법에 속한 자뿐만 아니라 아브라함의 믿음에 속한 자에게도 그러하니라. 아브라함은 우리 모두의 조상이니,

16 Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all,

17 (기록된 바와 같으니, “내가 너를 많은 민족들의 조상으로 삼았노라.” 하였도다.) 그가 믿은 그분, 곧 하나님 앞에서 그러하니라. 그분께서는 죽은 자들을 되살아나게 하시며 존재하지 아니하는 것들을 마치 그들이 존재하는 것처럼 부르시는 분이라.

17 (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.

18 그는 소망이 없어도 소망 가운데 믿었으니, “너의 씨가 그렇게 되리라.” 하고 언급된 것에 따라 그가 많은 민족들의 조상이 되게 하려는 것이라.

18 Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be.

19 그리하여 그가 믿음 안에서 약해지지 않은 채 약 일백 세가 되었을 때도 그는 자기 자신의 몸을 이때 죽은 것으로 생각하지 아니하고 사라의 태도 아직 죽은 상태라고 생각하지 아니하였느니라.

19 And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sara's womb:

20 그는 하나님의 약속 앞에서 불신으로 요동하지 않았고, 오히려 믿음 안에 강해져서 하나님께 영광을 돌렸느니라.

20 He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;

21 그리고 아브라함은 그분께서 친히 약속하신 것을 또한 능히 완수할 수 있으시다고 완전히 확신하게 되었으니,

21 And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.

22 그러므로 그 믿음이 그에게 의로 전가되었느니라.

22 And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness.

23 이제 그 믿음이 그에게 의로 전가되었다는 점이 기록된 것은 아브라함 혼자만을 위해서가 아니라,

23 Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him;

24 그 믿음이 의로 전가될 우리를 위함이기도 하니, 만일 우리 주이신 예수님을 죽은 자들로부터 일으키신 분을 우리가 믿는다면 그러하리라.

24 But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead;

25 그분께서는 우리의 범죄들로 인하여 넘겨지셨으며, 우리의 칭의를 위하여 다시 일으켜지셨느니라.

25 Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.
