사사기 12장

1 이후에 에프라임 남자들이 자기들끼리 함께 모여 북쪽으로 가서 입다에게 말하기를, “어찌 너는 암몬 후손들을 대적하여 싸우려고 넘어가면서 너와 함께 가도록 우리를 부르지 아니하였느냐? 우리가 너에게 불을 놓아 너의 집을 태우겠노라.” 하였더라.

1 And the men of Ephraim gathered themselves together, and went northward, and said unto Jephthah, Wherefore passedst thou over to fight against the children of Ammon, and didst not call us to go with thee? we will burn thine house upon thee with fire.

2 그러자 입다가 그들에게 이같이 말하였더라. “나와 나의 백성이 암몬의 후손들과 심한 분쟁이 있었거늘 내가 너희를 불렀을 때 너희는 그들의 손에서 나를 구출하지 아니하였도다.

2 And Jephthah said unto them, I and my people were at great strife with the children of Ammon; and when I called you, ye delivered me not out of their hands.

3 그런데 너희가 나를 구출하지 아니한 것을 내가 보았을 때 나는 내 생명을 내 두 손안에 쥐고 암몬의 후손들을 대적하여 넘어갔도다. 그리고 주께서는 나의 손안에 그들을 넘기셨도다. 그러할진대 어찌 너희가 이날 나에게 올라와서 나를 대적하여 싸우려 하느냐?”

3 And when I saw that ye delivered me not, I put my life in my hands, and passed over against the children of Ammon, and the LORD delivered them into my hand: wherefore then are ye come up unto me this day, to fight against me?

4 그때 입다가 길르앗의 모든 남자들을 한데 모아서 에프라임과 싸웠더라. 그런즉 길르앗의 남자들이 에프라임을 쳤더라. 이는 그들이 말하기를, “너희 길르앗족들은 에프라임족들 사이와 므낫세족들 사이에 있는 에프라임의 도망자들이로다.” 하였기 때문이라.

4 Then Jephthah gathered together all the men of Gilead, and fought with Ephraim: and the men of Gilead smote Ephraim, because they said, Ye Gileadites are fugitives of Ephraim among the Ephraimites, and among the Manassites.

5 그런즉 길르앗족들이 에프라임족들보다 미리 요르단의 통행로들을 점거하였더라. 그러자 이와 같은 일이 있었으니, 탈출하게 된 그 에프라임족들이 말하기를, “내가 건너가도록 허락하라.” 하여, 길르앗 남자들이 그에게 말하기를, “네가 에프라임족이냐?” 하였을 때, 만일 그가 말하기를, “아니라.” 하는 경우,

5 And the Gileadites took the passages of Jordan before the Ephraimites: and it was so, that when those Ephraimites which were escaped said, Let me go over; that the men of Gilead said unto him, Art thou an Ephraimite? If he said, Nay;

6 그때 그들이 그에게 말하기를, “지금 쉽볼렛을 말하여 보라.” 하였더라. 그리하면 그가 말하기를, “십볼렛”이라 하였으니, 그가 그것을 올바로 발음해 낼 수 없었기 때문이라. 그때 그들이 그를 붙잡아 요르단의 통행로들에서 그를 살해하였더라. 그리하여 당시에 에프라임족들 중 사만 이천 명이 쓰러졌더라.

6 Then said they unto him, Say now Shibboleth: and he said Sibboleth: for he could not frame to pronounce it right. Then they took him, and slew him at the passages of Jordan: and there fell at that time of the Ephraimites forty and two thousand.

7 그런즉 입다가 이스라엘을 육 년 동안 재판하였더라. 그 후에 길르앗족 입다가 죽어서 길르앗의 도시들 중 한곳 안에 장사되었더라.

7 And Jephthah judged Israel six years. Then died Jephthah the Gileadite, and was buried in one of the cities of Gilead.

8 ¶ 다음으로 그의 뒤를 이어 베들레헴의 입잔이 이스라엘을 재판하였더라.

8 ¶ And after him Ibzan of Bethlehem judged Israel.

9 그리고 그에게는 삼십 명의 아들들과 삼십 명의 딸들이 있었는데 그가 딸들을 외국으로 보냈고 이후에 자기 아들들을 위하여 외국에서 삼십 명의 딸들을 데려왔더라. 그런즉 그가 이스라엘을 칠 년 동안 재판하였더라.

9 And he had thirty sons, and thirty daughters, whom he sent abroad, and took in thirty daughters from abroad for his sons. And he judged Israel seven years.

10 그 후에 입잔이 죽어서 베들레헴에 장사되었더라.

10 Then died Ibzan, and was buried at Bethlehem.

11 ¶ 다음으로 그의 뒤를 이어 스불론족인 엘론이 이스라엘을 재판하였더라. 그런즉 그가 십 년 동안 이스라엘을 재판하였더라.

11 ¶ And after him Elon, a Zebulonite, judged Israel; and he judged Israel ten years.

12 그리고 스불론족인 엘론이 죽어서 스불룬 지방 가운데 있는 아이얄론에 장사되었더라.

12 And Elon the Zebulonite died, and was buried in Aijalon in the country of Zebulun.

13 ¶ 다음으로 그의 뒤를 이어 피라돈족인 힐렐의 아들 압돈이 이스라엘을 재판하였더라.

13 ¶ And after him Abdon the son of Hillel, a Pirathonite, judged Israel.

14 그리고 그에게는 사십 명의 아들들과 삼십 명의 손자들이 있었으니, 그들이 칠십 마리의 새끼 수나귀들을 탔더라. 그런즉 그가 팔 년 동안 이스라엘을 재판하였더라.

14 And he had forty sons and thirty nephews, that rode on threescore and ten ass colts: and he judged Israel eight years.

15 그리고 피라돈족인 힐렐의 아들 압돈이 죽어서 에프라임 지역 가운데 있는 피라돈에, 곧 아말렉족들의 산속에 장사되었더라.

15 And Abdon the son of Hillel the Pirathonite died, and was buried in Pirathon in the land of Ephraim, in the mount of the Amalekites.
