사사기 14장

1 이후에 삼손이 팀낫에 내려갔는데 팀낫에서 필리스티아인들의 딸들에 속한 한 여자를 보았더라.

1 And Samson went down to Timnath, and saw a woman in Timnath of the daughters of the Philistines.

2 그런 다음에 그가 올라와 그의 아버지와 그의 어머니에게 알리며 말하기를, “제가 팀낫에서 필리스티아인들의 딸들에 속한 한 여자를 보았나이다. 그러므로 이제 저를 위하여 그녀를 아내로 얻어 주소서.” 하였더라.

2 And he came up, and told his father and his mother, and said, I have seen a woman in Timnath of the daughters of the Philistines: now therefore get her for me to wife.

3 그때 그의 아버지와 그의 어머니가 그에게 말하기를, “너의 형제들의 딸들 가운데나 나의 온 백성 가운데 여자가 한 명도 없어서 네가 할례받지 않은 필리스티아인들 사이에서 한 아내를 얻으러 가느냐?” 하였더라. 그러자 삼손이 그의 아버지에게 말하기를, “저를 위하여 그녀를 얻어 주소서. 이는 그녀가 저를 매우 기쁘게 하기 때문이니이다.” 하였더라.

3 Then his father and his mother said unto him, Is there never a woman among the daughters of thy brethren, or among all my people, that thou goest to take a wife of the uncircumcised Philistines? And Samson said unto his father, Get her for me; for she pleaseth me well.

4 그러나 그의 아버지와 그의 어머니는 그것이 주께로부터 비롯된 것이었다는 것을 몰랐으니, 그분께서 필리스티아인들을 대적하는 계기를 찾으신 것이라. 이는 그 당시에 필리스티아인들이 이스라엘 위에 통치권을 가졌기 때문이라.

4 But his father and his mother knew not that it was of the LORD, that he sought an occasion against the Philistines: for at that time the Philistines had dominion over Israel.

5 ¶ 그때 삼손과 그의 아버지와 그의 어머니가 팀낫으로 내려가서 팀낫의 포도원들에 이르렀더라. 그런데 보라, 젊은 사자가 그를 대적하여 포효하였더라.

5 ¶ Then went Samson down, and his father and his mother, to Timnath, and came to the vineyards of Timnath: and, behold, a young lion roared against him.

6 그러자 주의 영이 그의 위에 막강하게 임하셨으니, 그가 마치 새끼 염소를 찢듯이 그를 찢었는데 그는 자신의 손안에 아무것도 가지고 있지 아니하였더라. 그러나 그는 그의 아버지나 그의 어머니에게 자신이 한 일을 알리지 아니하였더라.

6 And the Spirit of the LORD came mightily upon him, and he rent him as he would have rent a kid, and he had nothing in his hand: but he told not his father or his mother what he had done.

7 그리고 그가 내려가서 그 여자와 대화하였더라. 그런데 그녀가 삼손을 매우 기쁘게 하였더라.

7 And he went down, and talked with the woman; and she pleased Samson well.

8 ¶ 그리고 얼마 후에 그가 그녀를 취하려고 되돌아갔는데, 그가 사자의 사체를 보려고 옆으로 돌아갔더라. 그런데 보라, 사자의 사체 안에 벌들의 군집과 꿀이 있었더라.

8 ¶ And after a time he returned to take her, and he turned aside to see the carcase of the lion: and, behold, there was a swarm of bees and honey in the carcase of the lion.

9 그러자 그가 그의 두 손으로 그것의 일부를 취하여 가면서 먹다가 그의 아버지와 어머니에게 이르러 그가 그것들을 주었으니, 그들이 먹었더라. 그러나 그가 그들에게 자신이 사자의 사체에서 그 꿀을 취하였다고 알리지 아니하였더라.

9 And he took thereof in his hands, and went on eating, and came to his father and mother, and he gave them, and they did eat: but he told not them that he had taken the honey out of the carcase of the lion.

10 ¶ 그렇게 하여 그의 아버지가 그 여자에게 내려갔더라. 그리고 삼손이 거기에서 잔치를 베풀었더라. 이는 청년들이 그렇게 하곤 하였기 때문이라.

10 ¶ So his father went down unto the woman: and Samson made there a feast; for so used the young men to do.

11 그리고 그들이 그를 보았을 때 이러한 일이 있었으니, 그들이 그와 함께 있게 하려고 삼십 명의 벗들을 데려왔더라.

11 And it came to pass, when they saw him, that they brought thirty companions to be with him.

12 ¶ 그러자 삼손이 그들에게 이같이 말하였더라. “내가 이제 너희에게 한 수수께끼를 내겠노라. 만일 너희가 칠 일 동안의 잔치 내에 그것을 확실히 찾아 나에게 그것을 분명하게 밝힌다면, 그때는 내가 너희에게 삼십 벌의 얇은 옷들과 삼십 벌의 갈아입을 의복들을 주겠노라.

12 ¶ And Samson said unto them, I will now put forth a riddle unto you: if ye can certainly declare it me within the seven days of the feast, and find it out, then I will give you thirty sheets and thirty change of garments:

13 그러나 만일 너희가 그것을 나에게 분명히 밝힐 수 없다면, 그때는 너희가 나에게 삼십 벌의 얇은 옷들과 삼십 벌의 갈아입을 의복들을 주어야 하리라.” 그러자 그들이 그에게 말하기를, “우리가 그것을 들을 수 있도록 너의 수수께끼를 내 보라.” 하였더라.

13 But if ye cannot declare it me, then shall ye give me thirty sheets and thirty change of garments. And they said unto him, Put forth thy riddle, that we may hear it.

14 이에 삼손이 그들에게 말하기를, “먹는 자에게서 음식이 나왔고, 강한 자에게서 달콤함이 나왔도다.” 하였더라. 그런데 그들이 삼 일 동안 그 수수께끼를 풀이할 수 없었더라.

14 And he said unto them, Out of the eater came forth meat, and out of the strong came forth sweetness. And they could not in three days expound the riddle.

15 그러자 일곱째 날에 이러한 일이 있었으니, 그들이 삼손의 아내에게 말하기를, “그가 우리에게 수수께끼를 분명히 밝힐 수 있도록 너의 남편을 유혹하라. 그렇지 않으면 우리가 너와 너의 아버지의 집을 불로 태우리라. 너희는 우리가 가진 것을 빼앗으려고 우리를 불렀느냐? 그런 것이 아니냐?” 하였더라.

15 And it came to pass on the seventh day, that they said unto Samson's wife, Entice thy husband, that he may declare unto us the riddle, lest we burn thee and thy father's house with fire: have ye called us to take that we have? is it not so?

16 이에 삼손의 아내가 그의 앞에서 울며 말하기를, “당신은 저를 증오할 뿐, 저를 사랑하지 아니하나이다. 당신이 제 백성의 자식들에게 수수께끼를 냈는데도 그것을 저에게 알려주지 아니하였나이다.” 하였더라. 그러자 그가 그녀에게 말하기를, “보라, 내가 그것을 나의 아버지나 나의 어머니에게도 알리지 아니하였도다. 그런데 내가 그것을 너에게 알려야 하겠느냐?” 하였더라.

16 And Samson's wife wept before him, and said, Thou dost but hate me, and lovest me not: thou hast put forth a riddle unto the children of my people, and hast not told it me. And he said unto her, Behold, I have not told it my father nor my mother, and shall I tell it thee?

17 이어서 그녀가 그들의 잔치가 진행되는 칠 일 동안 그의 앞에서 울었더라. 그러다가 일곱째 날에 이러한 일이 있었으니, 그녀가 그를 심히 괴롭힌 까닭에 그가 그녀에게 알려주었더라. 이에 그녀가 그 수수께끼를 그녀의 백성의 자식들에게 알렸더라.

17 And she wept before him the seven days, while their feast lasted: and it came to pass on the seventh day, that he told her, because she lay sore upon him: and she told the riddle to the children of her people.

18 이윽고 일곱째 날 해가 지기 전에 그 도시의 남자들이 그에게 말하기를, “꿀보다 더 달콤한 것이 무엇이며, 사자보다 더 강한 것이 무엇이냐?” 하였더라. 이에 그가 그들에게 말하기를, “만일 너희가 나의 암송아지로 밭을 갈지 아니하였더라면 너희는 나의 수수께끼를 알아내지 못하였으리라.” 하였더라.

18 And the men of the city said unto him on the seventh day before the sun went down, What is sweeter than honey? and what is stronger than a lion? And he said unto them, If ye had not plowed with my heifer, ye had not found out my riddle.

19 ¶ 그러자 주의 영이 그의 위에 임하셨으니, 그가 아슈클론으로 내려가서 그들 중 삼십 명의 남자들을 살해하였으며 그들에게서 노획물을 취하고 수수께끼를 풀이한 자들에게 갈아입을 의상들을 주었더라. 그런즉 그의 분노가 타올랐으니, 그가 자기 아버지의 집으로 올라갔더라.

19 ¶ And the Spirit of the LORD came upon him, and he went down to Ashkelon, and slew thirty men of them, and took their spoil, and gave change of garments unto them which expounded the riddle. And his anger was kindled, and he went up to his father's house.

20 반면에 삼손의 아내는, 삼손이 자기 친구로 삼았던, 그의 벗에게 주어졌더라.

20 But Samson's wife was given to his companion, whom he had used as his friend.
