사사기 6장

1 이후에 이스라엘 자녀들이 주의 목전에 악을 행하였더라. 그러자 주께서 칠 년 동안 미디안의 손안에 그들을 넘기셨더라.

1 And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD: and the LORD delivered them into the hand of Midian seven years.

2 그러자 미디안의 손이 이스라엘을 대적하여 승리하였더라. 이에 이스라엘 자녀들은 미디안족들로 인하여 산들 속에 있는 토굴들과, 동굴들과, 강한 요새들을 자신들에게 만들어 두었더라.

2 And the hand of Midian prevailed against Israel: and because of the Midianites the children of Israel made them the dens which are in the mountains, and caves, and strong holds.

3 그러자 이와 같은 일이 있었으니, 이스라엘이 씨를 뿌렸을 때면 미디안족들과 아말렉족들과 동방의 후손들이 올라왔는데 바로 저들이 그들을 대적하여 올라왔더라.

3 And so it was, when Israel had sown, that the Midianites came up, and the Amalekites, and the children of the east, even they came up against them;

4 그러면서 저들은 그들을 대적하여 주둔하였고 땅의 소산을 파괴시켰는데, 네가 가자에 이르는 데까지 모든 곳에서, 이스라엘을 위한 식량을 남기지 아니하였고, 또한 양도, 소도, 나귀도 그리하였더라.

4 And they encamped against them, and destroyed the increase of the earth, till thou come unto Gaza, and left no sustenance for Israel, neither sheep, nor ox, nor ass.

5 이는 저들이 자신들의 가축들과 자신들의 천막들을 가지고 올라왔고, 저들은 풀무치들같이 허다한 수가 왔기 때문이요, 저들과 저들의 낙타들이 모두 무수하였기 때문이라. 그리하여 저들은 그 지역을 멸하려고 그 안으로 진입하였더라.

5 For they came up with their cattle and their tents, and they came as grasshoppers for multitude; for both they and their camels were without number: and they entered into the land to destroy it.

6 그러자 미디안족들 때문에 이스라엘이 대단히 빈궁해졌더라. 이에 이스라엘 자녀들이 주께 부르짖었더라.

6 And Israel was greatly impoverished because of the Midianites; and the children of Israel cried unto the LORD.

7 ¶ 그러자 이스라엘 자녀들이 미디안족들로 인하여 주께 부르짖었을 때 이러한 일이 있었으니,

7 ¶ And it came to pass, when the children of Israel cried unto the LORD because of the Midianites,

8 주께서 한 예언자를 이스라엘 자녀들에게 보내셨고 그가 그들에게 이같이 말하였더라. “이스라엘의 주 하나님이 이같이 말하노라. 내가 이집트에서 너희를 데리고 올라왔고, 속박의 집에서 너희를 데리고 나왔도다.

8 That the LORD sent a prophet unto the children of Israel, which said unto them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, I brought you up from Egypt, and brought you forth out of the house of bondage;

9 그리하여 내가 이집트인들의 손에서, 또 너희를 압제한 모든 자들의 손에서 너희를 구출하였으며 너희 앞에서 그들을 내쫓았고 그들의 지역을 너희에게 주었도다.

9 And I delivered you out of the hand of the Egyptians, and out of the hand of all that oppressed you, and drave them out from before you, and gave you their land;

10 그러면서 내가 너희에게 말하기를, ‘나는 주 너희 하나님이로다. 너희가 거하고 있는 지역을 소유한 아모리족들의 신들을 두려워하지 말라.’ 하였도다. 그러나 너희는 나의 음성에 순종하지 아니하였노라.”

10 And I said unto you, I am the LORD your God; fear not the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but ye have not obeyed my voice.

11 ¶ 그러자 주의 천사가 와서 오프라에 있던 상수리나무 아래에 앉았으니, 그곳은 아비에젤족인 요아시에게 귀속되어 있었더라. 그리고 그의 아들 기드온은 포도즙 틀로 밀을 타작하였으니, 그것을 미디안족들로부터 숨기기 위함이더라.

11 ¶ And there came an angel of the LORD, and sat under an oak which was in Ophrah, that pertained unto Joash the Abiezrite: and his son Gideon threshed wheat by the winepress, to hide it from the Midianites.

12 그리하여 주의 천사가 그에게 나타나 그에게 말하기를, “너, 막강한 용사여, 주께서 너와 함께 계시노라.” 하였도다.

12 And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him, and said unto him, The LORD is with thee, thou mighty man of valour.

13 그러자 기드온이 그에게 말하기를, “오, 나의 주여, 주께서 저희와 함께 계시거든 그렇다면 어찌하여 이 모든 것이 저희에게 닥쳤나이까? 또 우리 조상들이 우리에게 알리며 말하기를, ‘주께서 우리를 이집트에서 데리고 올라오지 아니하셨느냐?’ 한 그분의 모든 기적들이 어디 있나이까? 오히려 지금 주께서는 저희를 저버리셨으며 미디안족들의 손안에 저희를 넘기셨나이다.” 하였더라.

13 And Gideon said unto him, Oh my Lord, if the LORD be with us, why then is all this befallen us? and where be all his miracles which our fathers told us of, saying, Did not the LORD bring us up from Egypt? but now the LORD hath forsaken us, and delivered us into the hands of the Midianites.

14 이에 주께서 그를 바라보시고 말씀하시기를, “너의 이 막강함으로 가라. 그리하여 너는 미디안족들의 손에서 이스라엘을 구원할지니라. 내가 너를 보내지 아니하였느냐?” 하셨느니라.

14 And the LORD looked upon him, and said, Go in this thy might, and thou shalt save Israel from the hand of the Midianites: have not I sent thee?

15 그러자 기드온이 그분께 말씀드리기를, “오, 나의 주여, 제가 무엇으로 이스라엘을 구원하리이까? 보소서, 제 가족은 므낫세 가운데서도 가난하며, 저는 저의 아버지 집에서 가장 작은 자이니이다.” 하였더라.

15 And he said unto him, Oh my Lord, wherewith shall I save Israel? behold, my family is poor in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father's house.

16 이에 주께서 그에게 말씀하시기를, “반드시 내가 너와 함께 있겠노라. 그런즉 너는 미디안족들을 한 사람같이 칠지니라.” 하셨느니라.

16 And the LORD said unto him, Surely I will be with thee, and thou shalt smite the Midianites as one man.

17 그러자 기드온이 그분께 말씀드리기를, “이제 만일 제가 당신의 목전에서 은혜를 발견하였다면 그때는 제게 당신께서 저와 대화하고 계신다는 표적을 보여 주시옵소서.

17 And he said unto him, If now I have found grace in thy sight, then shew me a sign that thou talkest with me.

18 제가 당신께 간구하오니, 제가 당신께 나아와서 제 증여물을 꺼내서 그것을 당신 앞에 차려 놓을 때까지 이곳에서 떠나지 마시옵소서.” 하였더라. 이에 그분께서 말씀하시기를, “네가 다시 올 때까지 내가 머물겠노라.” 하셨느니라.

18 Depart not hence, I pray thee, until I come unto thee, and bring forth my present, and set it before thee. And he said, I will tarry until thou come again.

19 ¶ 그러자 기드온이 들어가서 새끼 염소 한 마리와, 곡물 가루 일 에파에서 만든, 누룩이 들어 있지 않고 둥글납작한 빵들을 준비하였더라. 그가 바구니 안에 고기를 담았고, 그가 냄비 안에 국물을 담았으며, 그것을 상수리나무 아래에 있는 그분께 내와 그것을 차려 드렸더라.

19 ¶ And Gideon went in, and made ready a kid, and unleavened cakes of an ephah of flour: the flesh he put in a basket, and he put the broth in a pot, and brought it out unto him under the oak, and presented it.

20 이에 하나님의 천사가 그에게 말하기를, “고기와, 누룩이 들어 있지 않고 둥글납작한 빵들을 가져다가 그것들을 이 반석 위에 놓고 국물을 쏟아부으라.” 하였으니, 그가 그렇게 하였더라.

20 And the angel of God said unto him, Take the flesh and the unleavened cakes, and lay them upon this rock, and pour out the broth. And he did so.

21 ¶ 그때 주의 천사가 그의 손에 있던 지팡이의 끝을 앞으로 내밀었고 고기와, 누룩이 들어 있지 않고 둥글납작한 빵들에 대었더라. 그러자 반석에서 불이 일어나 고기와, 누룩이 들어 있지 않고 둥글납작한 빵들을 소멸시켰더라. 그 뒤에 주의 천사가 그의 목전에서 떠났더라.

21 ¶ Then the angel of the LORD put forth the end of the staff that was in his hand, and touched the flesh and the unleavened cakes; and there rose up fire out of the rock, and consumed the flesh and the unleavened cakes. Then the angel of the LORD departed out of his sight.

22 그러자 기드온이 그가 주의 천사였음을 알아차렸으니, 기드온이 말씀드리기를, “슬프도소이다, 오, 주 하나님이여! 이는 제가 주의 천사를 얼굴과 얼굴을 마주하여 보았기 때문이니이다.” 하였더라.

22 And when Gideon perceived that he was an angel of the LORD, Gideon said, Alas, O Lord GOD! for because I have seen an angel of the LORD face to face.

23 그러자 주께서 그에게 말씀하시기를, “너에게 평안이 있기를 바라노라. 두려워하지 말라. 너는 죽지 아니하리라.” 하셨느니라.

23 And the LORD said unto him, Peace be unto thee; fear not: thou shalt not die.

24 그때 기드온이 거기에다 주께 제단을 쌓았고 그것을 여호와샬롬이라 불렀더라. 오늘날까지 그것이 여전히 아비에젤족들의 오프라에 있느니라.

24 Then Gideon built an altar there unto the LORD, and called it Jehovahshalom: unto this day it is yet in Ophrah of the Abiezrites.

25 ¶ 이윽고 그날 밤에 이러한 일이 있었으니, 주께서 그에게 이같이 말씀하셨느니라. “너의 아버지의 어린 수송아지, 곧 칠 년 된 둘째 수송아지를 취하고, 너의 아버지가 소유한 바알의 제단을 무너뜨리며, 그것 옆에 있는 작은 수풀을 찍어 쓰러뜨리라.

25 ¶ And it came to pass the same night, that the LORD said unto him, Take thy father's young bullock, even the second bullock of seven years old, and throw down the altar of Baal that thy father hath, and cut down the grove that is by it:

26 그런 다음에 이 반석 꼭대기에 지정된 곳에서 주 너의 하나님께 제단을 쌓고 둘째 수송아지를 취한 다음 네가 찍어 쓰러뜨릴 작은 수풀의 목재로 번제의 희생 제물을 바치라.”

26 And build an altar unto the LORD thy God upon the top of this rock, in the ordered place, and take the second bullock, and offer a burnt sacrifice with the wood of the grove which thou shalt cut down.

27 그때 기드온이 자기 종들 중 열 명의 남자들을 데려다가 주께서 그에게 말씀하신 대로 실행하였더라. 그런즉 그가 자기 아버지의 집안과 그 도시의 남자들을 두려워하였으므로 이와 같은 일이 있었으니, 그가 그것을 낮에 할 수 없었기에, 밤에 그것을 행하였더라.

27 Then Gideon took ten men of his servants, and did as the LORD had said unto him: and so it was, because he feared his father's household, and the men of the city, that he could not do it by day, that he did it by night.

28 ¶ 그러고 나서 그 도시의 남자들이 아침에 일찍 일어났는데, 보라, 바알의 제단이 쓰러져 있었고, 그 옆에 있던 작은 수풀은 찍혀 쓰러져 있었으며, 둘째 수송아지는 쌓아진 제단 위에 바쳐져 있었더라.

28 ¶ And when the men of the city arose early in the morning, behold, the altar of Baal was cast down, and the grove was cut down that was by it, and the second bullock was offered upon the altar that was built.

29 그런즉 그들이 서로 말하기를, “누가 이런 짓을 행하였느냐?” 하였으니, 그들이 조사하고 물은 후에 그들이 말하기를, “요아시의 아들 기드온이 이런 짓을 행하였도다.” 하였더라.

29 And they said one to another, Who hath done this thing? And when they enquired and asked, they said, Gideon the son of Joash hath done this thing.

30 그때 도시의 남자들이 요아시에게 말하기를, “너의 아들을 끌어내어 그로 하여금 죽게 하라. 이는 그가 바알의 제단을 쓰러뜨렸기 때문이요, 그가 그 옆에 있던 작은 수풀을 찍어 쓰러뜨렸기 때문이라.” 하였더라.

30 Then the men of the city said unto Joash, Bring out thy son, that he may die: because he hath cast down the altar of Baal, and because he hath cut down the grove that was by it.

31 그러자 요아시가 그를 대적하여 서 있던 모든 이에게 말하기를, “너희가 바알을 위하여 변호하려고 하느냐? 너희가 그를 구원하겠느냐? 그를 위하여 변호하려는 자, 그는 아직 아침일 때 사형에 처해질지어다. 만일 그가 신이라면 그가 스스로 변호하게 하라. 이는 누군가 그의 제단을 쓰러뜨렸기 때문이라.” 하였더라.

31 And Joash said unto all that stood against him, Will ye plead for Baal? will ye save him? he that will plead for him, let him be put to death whilst it is yet morning: if he be a god, let him plead for himself, because one hath cast down his altar.

32 그러므로 그날에 그가 그를 여룹바알이라 불렀으니, “바알이 그를 대적하여 변호하게 하라.” 하고 말한 것이라. 이는 그가 바알의 제단을 무너뜨렸기 때문이라.

32 Therefore on that day he called him Jerubbaal, saying, Let Baal plead against him, because he hath thrown down his altar.

33 ¶ 그때 모든 미디안족들과 아말렉족들과 동방의 후손들이 함께 모여 건너가서 이즈르엘 골짜기 가운데 진을 쳤더라.

33 ¶ Then all the Midianites and the Amalekites and the children of the east were gathered together, and went over, and pitched in the valley of Jezreel.

34 그러나 주의 영이 기드온에게 임하셨으니, 그가 나팔을 불었더라. 그러자 아비에젤이 그를 따라 모였더라.

34 But the Spirit of the LORD came upon Gideon, and he blew a trumpet; and Abiezer was gathered after him.

35 이어서 그가 온 므낫세를 통틀어 전령들을 보냈더니, 므낫세도 그를 따라 모였더라. 이어서 그는 아셸과 스불룬과 납탈리에게도 전령들을 보냈더라. 그러자 그들이 그들을 맞이하러 올라왔더라.

35 And he sent messengers throughout all Manasseh; who also was gathered after him: and he sent messengers unto Asher, and unto Zebulun, and unto Naphtali; and they came up to meet them.

36 ¶ 그러자 기드온이 하나님께 이같이 말씀드렸더라. “만일 당신께서 친히 말씀하신 대로 제 손을 통하여 이스라엘을 구원하려 하신다면,

36 ¶ And Gideon said unto God, If thou wilt save Israel by mine hand, as thou hast said,

37 보소서, 제가 양털에서 난 양털 뭉치 하나를 마당 안에 두겠나이다. 이후에 만일 이슬이 그 양털 뭉치에만 있고 그 밖에 온 땅이 말라 있다면 그때는 제가 당신께서 말씀하신 대로 제 손을 통하여 친히 이스라엘을 구원하려 하시는 줄 알겠나이다.”

37 Behold, I will put a fleece of wool in the floor; and if the dew be on the fleece only, and it be dry upon all the earth beside, then shall I know that thou wilt save Israel by mine hand, as thou hast said.

38 그러자 그것이 그렇게 되었더라. 이는 그가 아침 일찍 일어나서 그 양털 뭉치를 한꺼번에 꽉 눌렀고 그 양털 뭉치를 비틀어 이슬을 짰더니 물이 대접에 가득하였기 때문이라.

38 And it was so: for he rose up early on the morrow, and thrust the fleece together, and wringed the dew out of the fleece, a bowl full of water.

39 그런 다음에 기드온이 하나님께 말씀드리기를, “당신의 분노가 저를 대적하여 달아오르지 않도록 하여 주시옵소서. 그리하시면 제가 이번 한 번만 고하겠나이다. 제가 당신께 간구하오니, 이번 한 번만 양털 뭉치로 제가 확인해 볼 수 있게 허락하시옵소서. 이제 그 양털 뭉치만 말라 있고 온 지면 위에는 이슬이 있게 하여 주시옵소서.” 하였더라.

39 And Gideon said unto God, Let not thine anger be hot against me, and I will speak but this once: let me prove, I pray thee, but this once with the fleece; let it now be dry only upon the fleece, and upon all the ground let there be dew.

40 그러자 하나님께서 그날 밤 그렇게 해 주셨더라. 이는 그 양털 뭉치만 말라 있었고 온 지면 위에는 이슬이 있었기 때문이라.

40 And God did so that night: for it was dry upon the fleece only, and there was dew on all the ground.
