열왕기하 7장

1 그때 엘리사가 말하기를, “너희는 주의 말씀을 들으라. ‘주가 이같이 말하노라. 내일 이 무렵에는 사마리아의 성문 안에서 고운 곡물 가루 한 분량이 일 셰켈에 팔릴 것이요, 보리 두 분량이 일 셰켈에 팔릴 것이라.’” 하였더라.

1 Then Elisha said, Hear ye the word of the LORD; Thus saith the LORD, To morrow about this time shall a measure of fine flour be sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, in the gate of Samaria.

2 그때 한 고관, 곧 왕이 그의 손에 기대는 자가 하나님의 사람에게 대답하여 말하기를, “보라, 만일 주께서 하늘에 창문들을 만드신들 이런 일이 있을 수 있겠느냐?” 하였더라. 그러자 그가 말하기를, “보라, 네가 그것을 너의 두 눈으로 볼 것이나 그것을 먹지는 못하리라.” 하였더라.

2 Then a lord on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God, and said, Behold, if the LORD would make windows in heaven, might this thing be? And he said, Behold, thou shalt see it with thine eyes, but shalt not eat thereof.

3 ¶ 그런데 성문으로 들어가는 진입로에는 나병에 걸린 남자들 네 명이 있었더라. 그리고 그들은 서로 이같이 말하였더라. “우리가 어찌하여 우리가 죽을 때까지 여기에 앉아만 있는 것이냐?

3 ¶ And there were four leprous men at the entering in of the gate: and they said one to another, Why sit we here until we die?

4 만일 우리가 말하기를, ‘우리가 도시 안으로 들어가리라.’ 한다 해도 그때는 기근이 도시 안에 있고 우리는 거기서 죽을 것이라. 그리고 만일 우리가 여기 가만히 앉아 있는다 해도 우리는 또한 죽는도다. 그러므로 이제 오라, 우리가 시리아인들의 군대에 들이닥치자. 혹 그들이 우리를 살려 둔다면 우리가 살 것이라. 그리고 설령 그들이 우리를 죽인다 해도 우리가 죽는 것뿐이리라.”

4 If we say, We will enter into the city, then the famine is in the city, and we shall die there: and if we sit still here, we die also. Now therefore come, and let us fall unto the host of the Syrians: if they save us alive, we shall live; and if they kill us, we shall but die.

5 그런즉 그들이 황혼에 일어나서 시리아인들의 진영으로 가려고 하였더라. 그리하여 그들이 시리아 진영의 맨 끝부분에 도달하였을 때, 보라, 거기에 한 사람도 없었더라.

5 And they rose up in the twilight, to go unto the camp of the Syrians: and when they were come to the uttermost part of the camp of Syria, behold, there was no man there.

6 이는 주께서 시리아인들의 군대에게 병거들의 소음과 말들의 소음을 듣게 하셨기 때문이니, 곧 엄청난 군대의 소음이라. 그런즉 그들이 서로 말하기를, “보라, 이스라엘 왕이 우리를 대적하여 히타이트족들의 왕들과 이집트인들의 왕들을 고용하여 우리에게 임하게 하였도다.” 하였더라.

6 For the Lord had made the host of the Syrians to hear a noise of chariots, and a noise of horses, even the noise of a great host: and they said one to another, Lo, the king of Israel hath hired against us the kings of the Hittites, and the kings of the Egyptians, to come upon us.

7 이러한 이유로 그들이 황혼에 일어나서 도망쳤고 그들의 천막들과 그들의 말들과 그들의 나귀들과 심지어 진영을 있는 그대로 남겨 둔 채 그들의 생명을 위하여 도망쳤더라.

7 Wherefore they arose and fled in the twilight, and left their tents, and their horses, and their asses, even the camp as it was, and fled for their life.

8 그리하여 이 나병 환자들이 진영의 맨 끝에 도착하였을 때 그들은 한 천막 안으로 들어갔고 먹고 마셨으며 거기서부터 은과 금과 의복을 날랐고 가서 그것을 숨겼더라. 그리고 다시 와서 또 다른 천막 안으로 들어간 다음 거기서부터 또한 나른 뒤에 가서 그것을 숨겼더라.

8 And when these lepers came to the uttermost part of the camp, they went into one tent, and did eat and drink, and carried thence silver, and gold, and raiment, and went and hid it; and came again, and entered into another tent, and carried thence also, and went and hid it.

9 그때 그들이 서로 말하기를, “우리가 잘하고 있지 아니하도다. 이날은 좋은 소식들의 날인데 우리는 우리의 침묵을 지키고 있도다. 만일 우리가 아침 햇살이 비출 때까지 지체하면 어떤 해로움이 우리 위에 임하리라. 그러므로 이제 오라. 이는 우리가 가서 왕의 집안사람들에게 알리기 위함이라.” 하였더라.

9 Then they said one to another, We do not well: this day is a day of good tidings, and we hold our peace: if we tarry till the morning light, some mischief will come upon us: now therefore come, that we may go and tell the king's household.

10 그렇게 하여 그들이 도시의 문지기에게 와서 그들을 불렀더라. 그러면서 그들이 저들에게 알리며 말하기를, “우리가 시리아인들의 진영에 이르렀는데, 보라, 거기에 아무도 없었고 사람의 목소리도 없었으니, 다만 묶여 있는 말들과 묶여 있는 나귀들과 천막들만 그것들 그대로 있었도다.” 하였더라.

10 So they came and called unto the porter of the city: and they told them, saying, We came to the camp of the Syrians, and, behold, there was no man there, neither voice of man, but horses tied, and asses tied, and the tents as they were.

11 그리하여 그가 문지기들을 불렀더라. 그리고 그들이 그것을 왕의 집 내부로 알렸더라.

11 And he called the porters; and they told it to the king's house within.

12 ¶ 그러자 왕이 밤중에 일어났고 그의 신하들에게 이같이 말하였더라. “내가 이제 너희에게 시리아인들이 우리에게 한 것을 알려주겠노라. 그들은 우리가 배가 고픈 것을 아느니라. 그러므로 그들이 들에 자신들의 몸을 숨기려고 진영에서 나가며 말하기를, ‘그들이 도시에서 나올 때 우리가 그들을 생포하고 도시 안으로 쳐들어가자.’ 한 것이라.”

12 ¶ And the king arose in the night, and said unto his servants, I will now shew you what the Syrians have done to us. They know that we be hungry; therefore are they gone out of the camp to hide themselves in the field, saying, When they come out of the city, we shall catch them alive, and get into the city.

13 그러자 그의 신하들 중 한 명이 대답하였으니, 말하기를, “제가 당신께 간구하오니, 몇 사람이 남아 있는 말들 중 다섯 마리를 취하도록 허락하소서. 그 말들은 도시 안에 남겨진 것이오니, (보소서, 그것들이 그곳 안에 남겨진 이스라엘의 온 무리와 같으며, 보소서, 제가 말씀드리기로는 그것들이 바로 소멸된 이스라엘인들의 무리 전체와 같나이다.) 우리가 사람을 보내서 살펴보는 것을 허락하여 주소서.” 하였더라.

13 And one of his servants answered and said, Let some take, I pray thee, five of the horses that remain, which are left in the city, (behold, they are as all the multitude of Israel that are left in it: behold, I say, they are even as all the multitude of the Israelites that are consumed:) and let us send and see.

14 그러므로 그들이 병거용 말들 두 필을 취하였더라. 그런 다음에 왕이 시리아인들의 군대를 따라가도록 보내며 말하기를, “가서 살펴보라.” 하였더라.

14 They took therefore two chariot horses; and the king sent after the host of the Syrians, saying, Go and see.

15 그리하여 그들이 그들을 쫓아가서 요르단에 이르렀더라. 그런데 보라, 모든 길이 의복들과 그릇들로 가득하였으니, 그것들은 시리아인들이 스스로 급하여 팽개친 것들이라. 그런즉 전령들이 되돌아가서 왕에게 알렸더라.

15 And they went after them unto Jordan: and, lo, all the way was full of garments and vessels, which the Syrians had cast away in their haste. And the messengers returned, and told the king.

16 이에 백성이 나가서 시리아인들의 천막들을 탈취하였더라. 그렇게 하여 주의 말씀에 따라 고운 곡물 가루 한 분량이 일 셰켈에, 보리 두 분량이 일 셰켈에 팔렸더라.

16 And the people went out, and spoiled the tents of the Syrians. So a measure of fine flour was sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, according to the word of the LORD.

17 ¶ 그리고 왕이 그의 손에 자신이 기대던 그 고관을 성문의 책무를 맡도록 임명하였더라. 그리고 백성이 성문에서 그를 밟는 바람에 그가 죽었으니, 왕이 그에게 내려왔을 때 전한 하나님의 사람이 말한 대로였더라.

17 ¶ And the king appointed the lord on whose hand he leaned to have the charge of the gate: and the people trode upon him in the gate, and he died, as the man of God had said, who spake when the king came down to him.

18 그리고 하나님의 사람이 왕에게 전하여 말하기를, “내일 이 무렵에 사마리아의 성문 안에서 보리 두 분량이 일 셰켈이 되고, 고운 곡물 가루 한 분량이 일 셰켈이 되리라.” 하였을 때 이러한 일이 있었으니,

18 And it came to pass as the man of God had spoken to the king, saying, Two measures of barley for a shekel, and a measure of fine flour for a shekel, shall be to morrow about this time in the gate of Samaria:

19 그리고 그 고관이 하나님의 사람에게 대답하여 말하기를, “이제 보라. 만일 주께서 하늘에 창문들을 만드신들 그러한 일이 있을 수 있겠느냐?” 하였더라. 그러자 그가 말하기를, “보라, 네가 너의 두 눈으로 그것을 볼 것이나 그것을 먹지는 못하리라.” 하였더라.

19 And that lord answered the man of God, and said, Now, behold, if the LORD should make windows in heaven, might such a thing be? And he said, Behold, thou shalt see it with thine eyes, but shalt not eat thereof.

20 그런데 그런 일이 그에게 이처럼 닥친 것이라. 이는 백성이 성문 안에서 그를 밟는 바람에 그가 죽었기 때문이라.

20 And so it fell out unto him: for the people trode upon him in the gate, and he died.
