요한계시록 17장

1 그런데 일곱 호리병들을 가진 일곱 천사들 중 하나가 와서는 나와 대화하며 나에게 이같이 말하였더라. “이리 오라. 내가 너에게 많은 물들 위에 앉은 큰 음녀의 심판을 보여주겠노라.

1 And there came one of the seven angels which had the seven vials, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither; I will shew unto thee the judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon many waters:

2 그녀와 더불어 땅의 왕들이 음행하였고 땅의 거주자들이 그녀의 음행의 포도주로 취하게 되었도다.”

2 With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication.

3 그렇게 해서 그가 영 안에서 나를 광야로 멀리 이동시켰더라. 그리고 신성모독하는 이름들로 가득하고 일곱 머리들과 열 뿔들을 지닌 주홍색 짐승 위에 한 여자가 앉아 있는 것을 내가 보았더라.

3 So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.

4 그리고 그 여자는 자주색 옷과 주홍색 옷으로 차려입혀져 있었고, 금과 보석들과 진주들로 꾸며져 있었으며, 가증함들과 그녀의 음행의 더러움으로 가득한 금잔 하나를 그녀의 손에 가지고 있었더라.

4 And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication:

5 그리고 그녀의 이마 위에는 한 이름이 기록되어 있었는데, “신비라, 거대한 바빌론이라, 땅의 창녀들과 가증한 것들의 어미라.” 하였더라.

5 And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.

6 또한 내가 성도들의 피에 그리고 예수님의 순교자들의 피에 취한 그 여자를 보았더라. 그리고 내가 그녀를 보았을 때 나는 대단히 경악스러워하며 기이하게 여겼더라.

6 And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration.

7 그러자 그 천사가 나에게 이같이 말하였더라. “네가 어찌 놀라워하였느냐? 내가 너에게 그 여자의 신비와 그녀를 태운 일곱 머리들과 열 뿔들을 지닌 그 짐승의 신비를 알려 주겠노라.

7 And the angel said unto me, Wherefore didst thou marvel? I will tell thee the mystery of the woman, and of the beast that carrieth her, which hath the seven heads and ten horns.

8 네가 본 그 짐승은 과거에는 있었고 현재에는 없느니라. 그리고 미래에는 끝없는 구렁에서 올라와 파멸로 들어갈 것이라. 그리고 과거에는 있었고 현재에는 없는데 여전히 있는 그 짐승을 지상에 거하는 자들이 볼 때 그들이 기이하게 여기리니, 그들의 이름은 세상의 기초가 세워진 이래로 생명책 안에 기록되지 않았도다.

8 The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.

9 그리고 여기에 지혜 있는 생각이 있도다. 그 일곱 머리들은 일곱 산들이니, 그 산들 위에 그 여자가 앉아 있도다.

9 And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth.

10 그리고 일곱 왕들이 있도다. 다섯 명은 쓰러졌고 한 명은 있으나 다른 이는 아직 오지 아니하였도다. 그리고 그가 오면 그는 반드시 짧은 기간 동안 지속하리라.

10 And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, and the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space.

11 그런즉 과거에는 있었고 현재에는 없는 그 짐승, 바로 그가 여덟째요, 일곱에 속해 있으며 파멸로 들어가느니라.

11 And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition.

12 그리고 네가 본 열 뿔들은 열 왕들이라. 그들이 아직 왕국을 받지 않았으나 왕들로서 그 짐승과 더불어 한 시간 동안 권세를 받느니라.

12 And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast.

13 이들이 한 생각을 가지고 자신들의 권세와 힘을 그 짐승에게 주리라.

13 These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast.

14 이들은 어린양과 전쟁을 벌일 것이요, 어린양께서 그들을 이기시리라. 이는 그분께서 만주의 주시요, 만왕의 왕이시요, 그와 함께 있는 자들은 부르심을 받고 선택된 신실한 자들이기 때문이라.”

14 These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.

15 그리고 그가 나에게 이같이 말하니라. “네가 본, 그 음녀가 앉아 있는 물들은 백성들과 무리들과 민족들과 어족들이라.

15 And he saith unto me, The waters which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues.

16 그리고 이들, 곧 네가 본 그 짐승 위에 있는 열 뿔들은 그 음녀를 증오할 것이요, 그녀를 황량하고 벌거벗겨지게 만들 것이요, 그녀의 살을 먹고 그녀를 불로 태울 것이라.

16 And the ten horns which thou sawest upon the beast, these shall hate the whore, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire.

17 이는 하나님께서 그분의 뜻을 성취하게 하시려고 하나님의 말씀들이 성취될 때까지 그들의 마음속에 결의하여 그들의 왕국을 그 짐승에게 줄 생각을 집어넣으셨기 때문이라.

17 For God hath put in their hearts to fulfil his will, and to agree, and give their kingdom unto the beast, until the words of God shall be fulfilled.

18 그리고 네가 본 여자는 땅의 왕들을 통치하는 저 거대한 도시라.”

18 And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth.
