출애굽기 19장

1 셋째 달에 이스라엘 자녀들이 이집트 지역에서 나와 앞으로 나아갔으니, 같은 날 그들이 시나이 광야 가운데로 들어왔더라.

1 In the third month, when the children of Israel were gone forth out of the land of Egypt, the same day came they into the wilderness of Sinai.

2 이는 그들이 르피딤에서 출발하여 시나이 사막에 이르렀으며 광야 가운데 진을 쳤기 때문이라. 그리하여 이스라엘은 거기 산 앞에서 주둔하였더라.

2 For they were departed from Rephidim, and were come to the desert of Sinai, and had pitched in the wilderness; and there Israel camped before the mount.

3 그리고 모세가 하나님께로 올라갔으니, 주께서는 산에서 그를 부르시며 이같이 말씀하셨느니라. “이와 같이 너는 야곱의 집에 말하고 이스라엘 자녀들에게 알릴지니라.

3 And Moses went up unto God, and the LORD called unto him out of the mountain, saying, Thus shalt thou say to the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel;

4 ‘내가 이집트인들에게 무엇을 행하였는지와 내가 어떻게 독수리들의 날개들로 너희를 받쳐서 너희를 나에게로 데려왔는지 너희가 보아 왔느니라.

4 Ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, and how I bare you on eagles' wings, and brought you unto myself.

5 그러므로 이제 만일 너희가 진정 나의 음성에 순종하고 나의 언약을 지킨다면 그때 너희는 나에게 모든 백성들보다 뛰어난 독특한 보물이 되리라. 이는 온 땅이 내 것이기 때문이라.

5 Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine:

6 그리고 너희는 나에게 제사장들의 왕국과 거룩한 민족이 되리라.’ 이것들이 네가 이스라엘 자녀들에게 전할 말들이라.”

6 And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel.

7 ¶ 이후에 모세가 와서 백성의 장로들을 불러 주께서 자신에게 명령하신 이 모든 말씀들을 그들의 얼굴 앞에 내어놓았더라.

7 ¶ And Moses came and called for the elders of the people, and laid before their faces all these words which the LORD commanded him.

8 그러자 모든 백성이 함께 대답하여 말하기를, “주께서 이르신 모든 것을 저희가 실행하겠나이다.” 하였더라. 이에 모세가 백성의 말들을 주께 다시 가져왔더라.

8 And all the people answered together, and said, All that the LORD hath spoken we will do. And Moses returned the words of the people unto the LORD.

9 그러자 주께서 모세에게 말씀하시기를, “보라, 내가 짙은 구름 속에서 너에게 오나니, 내가 너와 이야기할 때 백성이 들을 수 있도록 하여 너를 영원토록 믿게 하려 함이라.” 하셨느니라. 이에 모세가 백성의 말들을 주께 알렸더라.

9 And the LORD said unto Moses, Lo, I come unto thee in a thick cloud, that the people may hear when I speak with thee, and believe thee for ever. And Moses told the words of the people unto the LORD.

10 ¶ 그러자 주께서 모세에게 이같이 말씀하셨느니라. “백성에게로 가서 오늘과 내일 그들을 성결하게 구별시키라. 그리고 그들로 하여금 자신들의 옷을 빨게 하라.

10 ¶ And the LORD said unto Moses, Go unto the people, and sanctify them to day and to morrow, and let them wash their clothes,

11 그런즉 셋째 날을 대비하여 준비하라. 이는 셋째 날에 모든 백성의 목전에서 주가 시나이산 위로 내려올 것이기 때문이라.

11 And be ready against the third day: for the third day the LORD will come down in the sight of all the people upon mount Sinai.

12 그리고 너는 백성에게 주변 경계선들을 설정하며 이같이 말할지니라. ‘너희가 그 산속으로 올라오거나 그것의 경계에 닿지 않도록 스스로 주의하라. 누구든지 그 산에 닿는 자는 반드시 사형에 처해질지니라.

12 And thou shalt set bounds unto the people round about, saying, Take heed to yourselves, that ye go not up into the mount, or touch the border of it: whosoever toucheth the mount shall be surely put to death:

13 그것에 손 하나도 대지 말지니, 오히려 그는 반드시 돌에 맞아 죽거나 화살에 관통되어야 하리라. 그것이 짐승이든지 사람이든지 간에 그것은 살지 못하리라. 나팔이 길게 울릴 때 그들은 산으로 올라올지니라.’”

13 There shall not an hand touch it, but he shall surely be stoned, or shot through; whether it be beast or man, it shall not live: when the trumpet soundeth long, they shall come up to the mount.

14 ¶ 그런즉 모세가 산에서 내려와 백성에게 이르러 백성을 성결하게 구별시켰으니, 그들이 자신들의 옷을 빨았더라.

14 ¶ And Moses went down from the mount unto the people, and sanctified the people; and they washed their clothes.

15 그런 다음에 그가 백성에게 말하기를, “셋째 날을 대비하여 준비하고 너희의 아내들에게 다가가지 말라.” 하였더라.

15 And he said unto the people, Be ready against the third day: come not at your wives.

16 ¶ 이윽고 셋째 날 아침에 이러한 일이 있었으니, 산 위에 천둥들과 번개들과 짙은 구름과 극도로 큰 나팔 음이 있었으므로 진영에 있던 모든 백성이 떨었더라.

16 ¶ And it came to pass on the third day in the morning, that there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud upon the mount, and the voice of the trumpet exceeding loud; so that all the people that was in the camp trembled.

17 그러자 모세가 하나님을 맞이하기 위하여 백성을 진영에서 데리고 나갔으니, 그들이 산기슭에 섰더라.

17 And Moses brought forth the people out of the camp to meet with God; and they stood at the nether part of the mount.

18 그러자 시나이산이 온통 어떤 연기로 자욱하였더라. 이는 주께서 불 가운데서 그 위로 내려오신 까닭이라. 그리고 그곳의 연기가 용광로의 연기같이 올라갔고 산 전체가 대단히 크게 진동하였더라.

18 And mount Sinai was altogether on a smoke, because the LORD descended upon it in fire: and the smoke thereof ascended as the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mount quaked greatly.

19 그리고 나팔 음이 오랫동안 울리고 점점 더 커졌을 때 모세가 고하였더니, 하나님께서 그에게 음성으로 대답하셨더라.

19 And when the voice of the trumpet sounded long, and waxed louder and louder, Moses spake, and God answered him by a voice.

20 그런즉 주께서 시나이산 위, 곧 산꼭대기에 내려오셨더라. 그리고 주께서 산꼭대기로 올라오라고 모세를 부르셨으니, 모세가 올라갔더라.

20 And the LORD came down upon mount Sinai, on the top of the mount: and the LORD called Moses up to the top of the mount; and Moses went up.

21 그러자 주께서 모세에게 이같이 말씀하셨느니라. “내려가서 백성에게 명할지니, 그들이 자세히 보려고 주를 향하여 뚫고 들어와서 그들 중 많은 이들이 목숨을 잃지 않도록 하려는 것이라.

21 And the LORD said unto Moses, Go down, charge the people, lest they break through unto the LORD to gaze, and many of them perish.

22 그리고 주께 가까이 다가오는 제사장들도 스스로를 성결하게 구별시킬지니, 주가 그들 위에 갑작스럽게 임하지 않게 하려는 것이라.”

22 And let the priests also, which come near to the LORD, sanctify themselves, lest the LORD break forth upon them.

23 그러자 모세가 주께 이같이 말씀드렸더라. “백성은 시나이산으로 올라올 수 없나이다. 이는 당신께서 저희에게 명하시며 말씀하시기를, ‘산 주변에 경계선들을 설정하고 그것을 성결하게 구별하라.’ 하셨기 때문이니이다.”

23 And Moses said unto the LORD, The people cannot come up to mount Sinai: for thou chargedst us, saying, Set bounds about the mount, and sanctify it.

24 이에 주께서 그에게 말씀하시기를, “너는 여기서 떠나 내려가라. 그리고 너, 곧 너와 네 곁에 있는 아론은 함께 올라올지니라. 그러나 제사장들과 백성이 주께로 올라오려고 뚫고 들어오지 않게 할지니, 그가 그들 위에 갑작스럽게 임하지 않게 하려는 것이라.” 하셨느니라.

24 And the LORD said unto him, Away, get thee down, and thou shalt come up, thou, and Aaron with thee: but let not the priests and the people break through to come up unto the LORD, lest he break forth upon them.

25 그렇게 하여 모세가 백성에게로 내려가 그들에게 전하였더라.

25 So Moses went down unto the people, and spake unto them.
