출애굽기 32장

1 그런데 백성이 모세가 산에서 내려오는 것이 지연되는 것을 보았을 때 백성은 스스로 아론에게로 함께 모여 그에게 말하기를, “일어나 우리 앞에 갈 신들을 우리에게 만들어 달라. 이집트 지역에서 우리를 데리고 올라온 남자인 이 모세로 말하자면, 우리는 그가 어찌 되었는지 모르기 때문이라.” 하였더라.

1 And when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down out of the mount, the people gathered themselves together unto Aaron, and said unto him, Up, make us gods, which shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him.

2 그러자 아론이 그들에게 말하기를, “금귀고리들을 빼내라. 곧, 너희의 아내들과 너희의 아들들과 너희의 딸들의 귀에 달려 있는 것들이니, 그것들을 나에게 가져오라.” 하였더라.

2 And Aaron said unto them, Break off the golden earrings, which are in the ears of your wives, of your sons, and of your daughters, and bring them unto me.

3 이에 모든 백성이 자신들의 귀에 달려 있던 금귀고리들을 빼내서 아론에게로 그것들을 가져왔더라.

3 And all the people brake off the golden earrings which were in their ears, and brought them unto Aaron.

4 그러자 그가 그들의 손에서 그것들을 받았으며 그가 그것으로 주조된 송아지 하나를 만든 뒤에, 조각 도구로 그것의 모양을 내었더라. 이에 그들이 말하기를, “오, 이스라엘아, 이것들이 너를 이집트 지역에서 데리고 올라온 너의 신들이라.” 하였더라.

4 And he received them at their hand, and fashioned it with a graving tool, after he had made it a molten calf: and they said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.

5 그리고 아론이 그것을 보고 나서 그는 그것 앞에 제단을 쌓았더라. 이에 아론이 포고령을 내리어 말하기를, “내일은 주를 위한 명절이라.” 하였더라.

5 And when Aaron saw it, he built an altar before it; and Aaron made proclamation, and said, To morrow is a feast to the LORD.

6 그리고 그들은 이튿날 일찍 일어나서 번제물들을 바쳤고 화평 제물들을 가져왔더라. 그러자 백성이 앉아서 먹고 마시며 일어나서 뛰놀았더라.

6 And they rose up early on the morrow, and offered burnt offerings, and brought peace offerings; and the people sat down to eat and to drink, and rose up to play.

7 ¶ 이에 주께서 모세에게 이같이 말씀하셨느니라. “가라. 너는 내려가라. 이는 네가 이집트 지역에서 데리고 나온 너의 백성이 스스로 부패하였기 때문이라.

7 ¶ And the LORD said unto Moses, Go, get thee down; for thy people, which thou broughtest out of the land of Egypt, have corrupted themselves:

8 그들은 내가 그들에게 명령한 길에서 급속하게 벗어났느니라. 그들이 자신들을 위하여 주조된 송아지 하나를 만들어 그것을 경배하였으며, 그것에게 희생 제물을 주어 말하기를, ‘오, 이스라엘아, 이것들이 너를 이집트 지역에서 데리고 올라온 너의 신들이라.’ 하였도다.”

8 They have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them: they have made them a molten calf, and have worshipped it, and have sacrificed thereunto, and said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which have brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.

9 이어서 주께서 모세에게 이같이 말씀하셨느니라. “내가 이 백성을 보아 왔으나, 보라, 고개가 뻣뻣하게 된 백성이로다.

9 And the LORD said unto Moses, I have seen this people, and, behold, it is a stiffnecked people:

10 그러므로 이제 나를 내버려 두어 그들을 대적하여 나의 진노가 뜨거워지게 하고 내가 그들을 소멸하게 하라. 그런 다음에 내가 너로부터 위대한 민족을 만들겠노라.”

10 Now therefore let me alone, that my wrath may wax hot against them, and that I may consume them: and I will make of thee a great nation.

11 그러자 모세가 주 그의 하나님께 간청하여 이같이 말씀드렸더라. “주여, 어찌하여 당신께서 위대한 권능으로, 또 막강한 손으로 이집트 지역에서 데리고 나오신 백성을 대적하여 당신의 진노가 뜨거워지셨나이까?

11 And Moses besought the LORD his God, and said, LORD, why doth thy wrath wax hot against thy people, which thou hast brought forth out of the land of Egypt with great power, and with a mighty hand?

12 어찌 이집트인들이 이야기하기를, ‘이는 그가 위해를 가하려고 그들을 데리고 나와 산들 속에서 그들을 살해하였고 땅의 표면으로부터 그들을 소멸시켰기 때문이라.’하고 말해야 하나이까? 당신의 맹렬한 진노에서 돌이키시고 당신의 백성을 대적하여 내리시려는 이 해악에 관하여 돌이켜 주옵소서.

12 Wherefore should the Egyptians speak, and say, For mischief did he bring them out, to slay them in the mountains, and to consume them from the face of the earth? Turn from thy fierce wrath, and repent of this evil against thy people.

13 당신의 종들인 아브라함과 이삭과 이스라엘을 기억하옵소서. 당신께서 그들에게 스스로를 두고 맹세하시어 그들에게 말씀하시기를, ‘내가 너희의 씨를 하늘의 별들같이 번성하게 하겠으며 내가 말한 이 모든 지역을 내가 너희의 씨에게 주겠으니, 그들이 그것을 영원토록 상속하리라.’ 하셨나이다.”

13 Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, thy servants, to whom thou swarest by thine own self, and saidst unto them, I will multiply your seed as the stars of heaven, and all this land that I have spoken of will I give unto your seed, and they shall inherit it for ever.

14 그러자 주께서 그분의 백성에게 행하기로 작정하신 그 해악에 관하여 돌이키셨더라.

14 And the LORD repented of the evil which he thought to do unto his people.

15 ¶ 그리하여 모세가 돌이켜 산에서 내려왔는데 두 증언 판들이 그의 손에 있었더라. 그 판들에는 그것들의 양면에 글이 기록되어 있었는데 한쪽 면과 다른 쪽 면에 그것들이 기록되어 있었더라.

15 ¶ And Moses turned, and went down from the mount, and the two tables of the testimony were in his hand: the tables were written on both their sides; on the one side and on the other were they written.

16 그리고 그 판들은 하나님의 작품이었으며 그 글은 판들 위에 새겨진 하나님의 글이었더라.

16 And the tables were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God, graven upon the tables.

17 그런데 백성이 소리를 지르는 동안 여호수아가 그들의 소음을 듣고 나서 그가 모세에게 말하기를, “진영 안에 전쟁의 소음이 있나이다.” 하였더라.

17 And when Joshua heard the noise of the people as they shouted, he said unto Moses, There is a noise of war in the camp.

18 그러자 그가 말하기를, “그것은 승전으로 인하여 함성을 지르는 자들의 음성이 아니요, 정복을 당하여 울부짖는 자들의 음성도 아니니라. 다만 노래하는 자들의 시끄러운 소리를 내가 듣노라.” 하였더라.

18 And he said, It is not the voice of them that shout for mastery, neither is it the voice of them that cry for being overcome: but the noise of them that sing do I hear.

19 ¶ 그러고 나서 그가 진영 가까이에 이르자마자 이러한 일이 있었으니, 그가 송아지와 이스라엘 자녀들이 춤추는 것을 보았더라. 그러자 모세의 분노가 뜨거워졌고, 그가 자기 두 손에서 그 판들을 던졌으며, 산 밑에서 그것들을 깨뜨렸더라.

19 ¶ And it came to pass, as soon as he came nigh unto the camp, that he saw the calf, and the dancing: and Moses' anger waxed hot, and he cast the tables out of his hands, and brake them beneath the mount.

20 그런 다음에 그가 그들이 만든 송아지를 취하여 그것을 불에 태웠으며 그것을 가루로 분쇄한 후 물 위에 그것을 흩어 놓고 이스라엘 자녀들에게 그것을 마시게 하였더라.

20 And he took the calf which they had made, and burnt it in the fire, and ground it to powder, and strawed it upon the water, and made the children of Israel drink of it.

21 그런 다음에 모세가 아론에게 말하기를, “이 백성이 너에게 무슨 일을 하였기에 너는 그들에게 이처럼 크나큰 죄를 가져왔느냐?” 하였더라.

21 And Moses said unto Aaron, What did this people unto thee, that thou hast brought so great a sin upon them?

22 그러자 아론이 이같이 말하였더라. “내 주의 분노가 뜨거워지지 않게 하소서. 당신은 이 백성을 아시나니, 그들이 악독함에 놓여 있나이다.

22 And Aaron said, Let not the anger of my lord wax hot: thou knowest the people, that they are set on mischief.

23 이는 그들이 저에게 말하기를, ‘우리 앞에 갈 신들을 우리에게 만들어 달라. 이집트 지역에서 우리를 데리고 올라온 남자인 이 모세로 말하자면, 우리는 그가 어찌 되었는지 모르기 때문이라.’ 하였기 때문이니이다.

23 For they said unto me, Make us gods, which shall go before us: for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him.

24 그리하여 제가 그들에게 말하기를, ‘누구든지 어떤 금이라도 소지하였다면 그들은 그것을 빼낼지어다.’ 하였나이다. 그렇게 하여 그들이 그것을 저에게 주었으며 그때 제가 그것을 불속에 던졌더니, 이 송아지가 나왔나이다.”

24 And I said unto them, Whosoever hath any gold, let them break it off. So they gave it me: then I cast it into the fire, and there came out this calf.

25 ¶ 그러고 나서 모세가 백성이 벌거벗은 것을 보았을 때, (이는 아론이 그들을 벌거벗게 만들어 그들의 원수들 가운데서 그들의 수치에 이르도록 하였기 때문이라.)

25 ¶ And when Moses saw that the people were naked; (for Aaron had made them naked unto their shame among their enemies:)

26 그때 모세가 진영의 관문에 서서 말하기를, “누가 주의 편이냐? 그는 나에게 올지어다.” 하였더라. 이에 레위의 모든 자손들이 스스로 그에게 함께 모여들었더라.

26 Then Moses stood in the gate of the camp, and said, Who is on the LORD'S side? let him come unto me. And all the sons of Levi gathered themselves together unto him.

27 그러자 모세가 그들에게 말하기를, “이스라엘의 주 하나님께서 이같이 말씀하시느니라. ‘각 사람은 모두 그의 옆에 자기 칼을 차고 진영을 구석구석 다니며 관문에서 관문으로 드나들라. 그러면서 저마다 자기 형제를, 저마다 자기 동지를, 저마다 자기 이웃을 살해하라.’” 하였더라.

27 And he said unto them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Put every man his sword by his side, and go in and out from gate to gate throughout the camp, and slay every man his brother, and every man his companion, and every man his neighbour.

28 이에 레위의 자녀들이 모세의 말대로 행하였더라. 그리하여 그날에 백성 중에서 약 삼천 명의 사람들이 쓰러졌더라.

28 And the children of Levi did according to the word of Moses: and there fell of the people that day about three thousand men.

29 이는 모세가 말하기를, “오늘 너희 자신을 주께 거룩하게 구별하여 저마다 바로 자기 아들 위와 자기 형제 위에 임할지니, 그분으로 하여금 이날 너희 위에 복을 부여하시게 하려 함이라.” 하였기 때문이라.

29 For Moses had said, Consecrate yourselves to day to the LORD, even every man upon his son, and upon his brother; that he may bestow upon you a blessing this day.

30 ¶ 그러고 나서 이튿날 이러한 일이 있었으니, 모세가 백성에게 말하기를, “너희가 크나큰 죄를 지었도다. 그런즉 이제 내가 주께로 올라가겠노라. 혹시라도 내가 너희의 죄에 대하여 속죄를 이행할 수 있을까 함이라.” 하였더라.

30 ¶ And it came to pass on the morrow, that Moses said unto the people, Ye have sinned a great sin: and now I will go up unto the LORD; peradventure I shall make an atonement for your sin.

31 그런 다음에 모세가 주께로 돌아가 이같이 말씀드렸더라. “오, 이 백성이 크나큰 죄를 짓고 자기들을 위하여 금으로 신들을 만들었나이다.

31 And Moses returned unto the LORD, and said, Oh, this people have sinned a great sin, and have made them gods of gold.

32 그렇지만 이제 만일 당신께서 그들의 죄를 용서하려 하신다면 좋으려니와.... 만일 그렇지 않으시다면 제가 당신께 간구하오니, 당신께서 기록해 오신 당신의 책에서 저를 지워 버리소서.”

32 Yet now, if thou wilt forgive their sin--; and if not, blot me, I pray thee, out of thy book which thou hast written.

33 그러자 주께서 모세에게 이같이 말씀하셨느니라. “누구든지 나를 대적하여 죄를 짓는 자는 내가 나의 책에서 그를 지워 버리겠노라.

33 And the LORD said unto Moses, Whosoever hath sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book.

34 그러므로 이제 가라. 내가 너에게 일러 준 곳으로 백성을 인도하라. 보라, 내 천사가 네 앞에 가리라. 그럼에도 불구하고 내가 벌하는 그날에 내가 그들의 죄를 벌하여 그들 위에 임하게 하겠노라.”

34 Therefore now go, lead the people unto the place of which I have spoken unto thee: behold, mine Angel shall go before thee: nevertheless in the day when I visit I will visit their sin upon them.

35 그리하여 주께서 백성에게 재앙을 내리셨으니, 그들이 아론이 만든 송아지를 만들었기 때문이라.

35 And the LORD plagued the people, because they made the calf, which Aaron made.
