사무엘기상 2장

1 그러고 나서 한나가 기도하며 이같이 말씀드렸더라. “제 마음이 주를 크게 기뻐하고 제 뿔이 주 안에서 크게 높아지나이다. 제 입이 저의 원수들 위에서 크게 벌어지나이다. 이는 제가 당신의 구원을 크게 기뻐하기 때문이니이다.

1 And Hannah prayed, and said, My heart rejoiceth in the LORD, mine horn is exalted in the LORD: my mouth is enlarged over mine enemies; because I rejoice in thy salvation.

2 주와 같이 거룩한 분은 아무도 없나이다. 이는 당신 외에 다른 신은 아무도 없기 때문이니이다. 우리 하나님과 같은 어떤 반석도 없나이다.

2 There is none holy as the LORD: for there is none beside thee: neither is there any rock like our God.

3 더 이상 그처럼 지극히 교만하게 말하지 말라. 너희의 입에서 불손함이 나오지 않게 하라. 이는 주께서 지식의 한 하나님이시요, 활동들이 그분에 의하여 저울질되기 때문이라.

3 Talk no more so exceeding proudly; let not arrogancy come out of your mouth: for the LORD is a God of knowledge, and by him actions are weighed.

4 막강한 남자들의 활들은 부러지고, 걸려 넘어진 자들은 힘으로 띠가 둘러지는도다.

4 The bows of the mighty men are broken, and they that stumbled are girded with strength.

5 충만하였던 자들은 빵을 위하여 스스로 품을 팔았도다. 그런데 굶주렸던 자들은 배고픔이 그쳤도다. 그렇게 하여 불임인 자가 일곱 명을 낳았으며, 많은 자식들을 가진 여자는 나약해졌도다.

5 They that were full have hired out themselves for bread; and they that were hungry ceased: so that the barren hath born seven; and she that hath many children is waxed feeble.

6 주께서는 죽이기도 하시고, 살리기도 하시는도다. 그분께서는 음부까지 끌어내리기도 하시고, 끌어올리기도 하시는도다.

6 The LORD killeth, and maketh alive: he bringeth down to the grave, and bringeth up.

7 주께서는 가난하게도 하시고, 부유하게도 하시는도다. 그분께서는 낮은 데로 내리기도 하시고, 위로 올리기도 하시는도다.

7 The LORD maketh poor, and maketh rich: he bringeth low, and lifteth up.

8 그분께서 티끌에서 가난한 자들을 일으켜 세우시고, 거름 더미에서 거지를 들어올리시니, 그들을 통치자들 사이에 두려 하심이요, 그들이 영광의 보좌를 상속하게 하려 하심이라. 이는 땅의 기둥들이 주의 것이요, 그분께서 그것들 위에 세상을 세우셨기 때문이라.

8 He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth up the beggar from the dunghill, to set them among princes, and to make them inherit the throne of glory: for the pillars of the earth are the LORD'S, and he hath set the world upon them.

9 그분께서 그분의 성도들의 발을 지키실 것이니, 사악한 자들은 어둠 속에서 말이 없으리라. 이는 힘으로는 그분을 제압할 사람이 전혀 없을 것이기 때문이라.

9 He will keep the feet of his saints, and the wicked shall be silent in darkness; for by strength shall no man prevail.

10 주의 대적들은 산산이 부서지리라. 그분께서 하늘로부터 그들 위에 천둥을 내리시리라. 주께서 땅의 끝들을 심판하시리라. 그리고 그분께서 그분의 왕에게 힘을 주시고 그분의 기름 부음 받은 자의 뿔을 크게 높이시리라.”

10 The adversaries of the LORD shall be broken to pieces; out of heaven shall he thunder upon them: the LORD shall judge the ends of the earth; and he shall give strength unto his king, and exalt the horn of his anointed.

11 이후에 엘카나는 라마흐에 있는 그의 집으로 갔더라. 그리고 그 아이는 제사장 엘리 앞에서 주를 섬겼더라.

11 And Elkanah went to Ramah to his house. And the child did minister unto the LORD before Eli the priest.

12 ¶ 이때 엘리의 아들들은 벨리알의 아들들이었으니, 그들은 주를 알지 아니하였더라.

12 ¶ Now the sons of Eli were sons of Belial; they knew not the LORD.

13 그리하여 그 제사장들이 백성에게 하는 관례가 있었으니, 곧 누군가 희생 제물을 바쳤을 때, 고기가 삶아지는 동안 그 제사장의 종이 세 갈래로 나누어진 고기 갈고리 하나를 자기 손에 들고 왔더라.

13 And the priests' custom with the people was, that, when any man offered sacrifice, the priest's servant came, while the flesh was in seething, with a fleshhook of three teeth in his hand;

14 그런 다음에는 그가 납작한 냄비나 주전자나 가마솥이나 냄비 안에 그것을 찔러 넣었으며, 고기 갈고리가 끄집어내는 모든 것을 그 제사장이 자신을 위하여 취하였더라. 실로에서 그들이 거기로 온 모든 이스라엘인들에게 그와 같이 행하였더라.

14 And he struck it into the pan, or kettle, or caldron, or pot; all that the fleshhook brought up the priest took for himself. So they did in Shiloh unto all the Israelites that came thither.

15 또한 그들이 지방을 태우기 전에 그 제사장의 종이 와서 희생 제물을 바친 사람에게 말하기를, “제사장을 위하여 불에 구울 고기를 달라. 이는 그가 삶은 고기가 아닌 날고기를 너에게서 얻으려 하기 때문이라.” 하였더라.

15 Also before they burnt the fat, the priest's servant came, and said to the man that sacrificed, Give flesh to roast for the priest; for he will not have sodden flesh of thee, but raw.

16 그러다가 만일 어떤 사람이 그에게 말하기를, “그들로 하여금 지방을 태우는 것을 바로 그만두게 하지 마소서. 태운 다음에 당신의 혼이 희망하는 만큼 취하소서.” 한다면, 그때는 그가 그에게 대답하기를, “아니라. 다만 너는 그것을 지금 나에게 달라. 그리고 만일 그렇게 하지 않는다면, 나는 그것을 강제로 가져가겠노라.” 하였더라.

16 And if any man said unto him, Let them not fail to burn the fat presently, and then take as much as thy soul desireth; then he would answer him, Nay; but thou shalt give it me now: and if not, I will take it by force.

17 이러한 이유로 주 앞에 그 청년들의 죄가 아주 막심하였더라. 이는 사람들이 주의 제물을 혐오하였기 때문이라.

17 Wherefore the sin of the young men was very great before the LORD: for men abhorred the offering of the LORD.

18 ¶ 그러나 사무엘은 아이면서도 아마포 에봇을 두른 채 주 앞에서 섬겼더라.

18 ¶ But Samuel ministered before the LORD, being a child, girded with a linen ephod.

19 이뿐만 아니라 그의 어머니는 그에게 작은 웃옷을 만들어 주었으니, 그녀가 그녀의 남편과 더불어 매년 드리는 희생 제물을 바치러 올라갔을 때 그것을 해마다 그에게 가져갔더라.

19 Moreover his mother made him a little coat, and brought it to him from year to year, when she came up with her husband to offer the yearly sacrifice.

20 ¶ 그러자 엘리가 엘카나와 그의 아내를 축복하며 말하기를, “주께서 이 여자를 통해 너에게 씨를 주사 그 빌려 드린 것, 곧 주께 빌려 드린 것을 대신하게 하시기를 바라노라.” 하였더라. 그러고 나서 그들이 그들 자신의 집으로 갔더라.

20 ¶ And Eli blessed Elkanah and his wife, and said, The LORD give thee seed of this woman for the loan which is lent to the LORD. And they went unto their own home.

21 그런즉 주께서 한나를 찾아오셨으니, 그녀가 임신하여 세 아들들과 두 딸들을 낳았더라. 그리고 아이 사무엘은 주 앞에서 자랐더라.

21 And the LORD visited Hannah, so that she conceived, and bare three sons and two daughters. And the child Samuel grew before the LORD.

22 ¶ 이제 엘리가 매우 늙었는데 그의 아들들이 온 이스라엘에 행한 모든 것을 들었으니, 회중의 성막 문에서 회동한 여자들과 그들이 어떻게 동침하였는지를 들었더라.

22 ¶ Now Eli was very old, and heard all that his sons did unto all Israel; and how they lay with the women that assembled at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.

23 그리하여 그가 그들에게 이같이 말하였더라. “어찌하여 너희가 그런 짓들을 하느냐? 이는 내가 이 모든 백성을 통하여 너희의 악한 처신들을 듣기 때문이라.

23 And he said unto them, Why do ye such things? for I hear of your evil dealings by all this people.

24 내 아들들아, 아니 되느니라. 이는 내가 듣는 것이 좋은 보고가 아니기 때문이라. 너희는 주의 백성으로 하여금 불법을 행하게 하는도다.

24 Nay, my sons; for it is no good report that I hear: ye make the LORD'S people to transgress.

25 만일 어떤 사람이 다른 누구를 대적하여 죄를 짓는다면 판관이 그를 재판하리라. 그러나 만일 사람이 주를 대적하여 죄를 짓는다면, 누가 그를 위하여 간청하겠느냐?” 그럼에도 불구하고 그들이 자신들의 아버지의 음성에 경청하지 아니하였으니, 주께서 그들을 살해하려 하신 까닭이라.

25 If one man sin against another, the judge shall judge him: but if a man sin against the LORD, who shall intreat for him? Notwithstanding they hearkened not unto the voice of their father, because the LORD would slay them.

26 그리고 아이 사무엘은 점점 자라나 주께, 또 사람들에게 모두 호의를 입었더라.

26 And the child Samuel grew on, and was in favour both with the LORD, and also with men.

27 ¶ 그리고 하나님의 사람이 엘리에게 와서 그에게 말하기를, “주께서 이같이 말하노라. 그들이 이집트에서 파라오의 집에 있었을 때 내가 너의 조상의 집에 명백하게 나타났느냐?

27 ¶ And there came a man of God unto Eli, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Did I plainly appear unto the house of thy father, when they were in Egypt in Pharaoh's house?

28 그리고 내가 그를 이스라엘의 모든 지파들 중에서 선택하여 나의 제사장이 되게 하고 나의 제단 위에 제물을 바치게 하며 분향하게 하고 내 앞에서 에봇을 입도록 하였느냐? 그리고 내가 이스라엘 자녀들에 속하는 불로써 드려지는 모든 제물들을 너의 아버지의 집에 주었느냐?

28 And did I choose him out of all the tribes of Israel to be my priest, to offer upon mine altar, to burn incense, to wear an ephod before me? and did I give unto the house of thy father all the offerings made by fire of the children of Israel?

29 그렇다면 어찌 너희는 내가 나의 거처에서 명령한 나의 희생 제물과 나의 봉헌물을 발로 차 버리느냐? 그리고 어찌 너의 아들들을 나보다 훨씬 존귀하게 여겨 나의 백성 이스라엘의 모든 제물들에서 제일가는 것으로 너희 자신을 살찌우느냐?

29 Wherefore kick ye at my sacrifice and at mine offering, which I have commanded in my habitation; and honourest thy sons above me, to make yourselves fat with the chiefest of all the offerings of Israel my people?

30 이러한 이유로 이스라엘의 주 하나님이 말하노라. 내가 정녕 너의 집과 너의 아버지의 집이 내 앞에서 영원토록 살아가리라고 말했었노라. 그러나 이제 주가 말하노니, 내가 결단코 그리하지 아니하리라. 이는 나를 존귀하게 여기는 자들을 내가 존귀하게 여길 것이요, 나를 멸시하는 자들은 가볍게 여겨질 것이기 때문이라.

30 Wherefore the LORD God of Israel saith, I said indeed that thy house, and the house of thy father, should walk before me for ever: but now the LORD saith, Be it far from me; for them that honour me I will honour, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed.

31 보라, 그날들이 오나니, 내가 너의 팔과 너의 아버지의 집의 팔을 잘라 버릴 날이요, 너의 집에 노인이 한 명도 없게 될 날이라.

31 Behold, the days come, that I will cut off thine arm, and the arm of thy father's house, that there shall not be an old man in thine house.

32 그런즉 하나님이 이스라엘에 줄 모든 번성 가운데 너는 나의 거처에서 원수를 보리라. 또 너의 집에는 영원토록 노인이 한 명도 없으리라.

32 And thou shalt see an enemy in my habitation, in all the wealth which God shall give Israel: and there shall not be an old man in thine house for ever.

33 그리고 너에게 속한 그 남자, 곧 내가 나의 제단으로부터 끊어 버리지 않을 자는 너의 두 눈을 쇠하게 하고 너의 마음을 비통하게 하는 존재가 되리라. 그리고 너의 집의 모든 생출이 그들의 꽃다운 나이에 죽으리라.

33 And the man of thine, whom I shall not cut off from mine altar, shall be to consume thine eyes, and to grieve thine heart: and all the increase of thine house shall die in the flower of their age.

34 그리고 이것이 너에게 표적이 되리니, 너의 두 아들들에게, 곧 홉니와 피느하스에게 임할 일이라. 그들, 곧 그들이 둘 다 한날에 죽으리라.

34 And this shall be a sign unto thee, that shall come upon thy two sons, on Hophni and Phinehas; in one day they shall die both of them.

35 그리고 나는 한 신실한 제사장을 나에게 일으켜 세우겠으니, 그는 나의 마음속에 있는 것과 나의 생각 속에 있는 것에 따라 실행하리라. 그리고 내가 그에게 확실한 집을 세워 주겠노라. 그리하면 그가 나의 기름 부음 받은 자 앞에서 영원토록 살아가리라.

35 And I will raise me up a faithful priest, that shall do according to that which is in mine heart and in my mind: and I will build him a sure house; and he shall walk before mine anointed for ever.

36 그리고 이러한 일이 있으리니, 너의 집에 남겨진 모든 자마다 그에게 와서 은화 한 개와 빵 한입을 위하여 굽신거리면서 말하기를, ‘제가 당신께 간구하오니, 저로 하여금 빵 한 조각을 먹을 수 있도록 제사장직들 중 하나에 저를 넣어 주소서.’ 하리라.”

36 And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left in thine house shall come and crouch to him for a piece of silver and a morsel of bread, and shall say, Put me, I pray thee, into one of the priests' offices, that I may eat a piece of bread.
