사무엘기상 29장

1 이제 필리스티아인들이 그들의 모든 군사들을 아펙에 한데 모았고, 이스라엘인들은 이즈르엘에 있는 수원지 옆에 진을 쳤더라.

1 Now the Philistines gathered together all their armies to Aphek: and the Israelites pitched by a fountain which is in Jezreel.

2 이윽고 필리스티아인들의 군주들이 수백 명씩, 수천 명씩 도열한 채 진출하였더라. 그러나 다윗과 그의 사람들은 아키시와 함께 후위대에서 나아갔더라.

2 And the lords of the Philistines passed on by hundreds, and by thousands: but David and his men passed on in the rereward with Achish.

3 그때 필리스티아인들의 통치자들이 말하기를, “이 히브리인들이 여기에서 무엇을 하느냐?” 하였더라. 그러자 아키시가 필리스티아인들의 통치자들에게 말하기를, “이 자는 이스라엘의 왕 사울의 종 다윗이 아니냐? 그가 요즈음, 곧 근 몇 해 동안 나와 함께 있었도다. 그리고 나는 이날에 이르기까지 그가 나에게 넘어온 이래로 그에게서 잘못을 전혀 발견하지 못하였노라.” 하였더라.

3 Then said the princes of the Philistines, What do these Hebrews here? And Achish said unto the princes of the Philistines, Is not this David, the servant of Saul the king of Israel, which hath been with me these days, or these years, and I have found no fault in him since he fell unto me unto this day?

4 이에 필리스티아인들의 통치자들이 그에게 격노하였더라. 그런즉 필리스티아인들의 통치자들이 그에게 이같이 말하였더라. “이 사내를 되돌려 보내시어 그로 하여금 당신께서 그에게 지정해 주신 그의 처소로 다시 가게 하시고, 그로 하여금 우리와 함께 전투에 내려가지 않게 하소서. 이는 전투에서 그가 우리의 대적이 되지 않게 하려 함이니이다. 그런즉 그가 무엇을 가지고 자기 주인과 스스로 화해하겠나이까? 이 사람들의 머리로 아니하겠나이까?

4 And the princes of the Philistines were wroth with him; and the princes of the Philistines said unto him, Make this fellow return, that he may go again to his place which thou hast appointed him, and let him not go down with us to battle, lest in the battle he be an adversary to us: for wherewith should he reconcile himself unto his master? should it not be with the heads of these men?

5 그들이 춤들을 추며 서로 노래하며 말하기를, ‘사울이 살해한 자는 수천이요, 다윗이 살해한 자는 수만이라.’ 한 자가 이 다윗이 아니니이까?”

5 Is not this David, of whom they sang one to another in dances, saying, Saul slew his thousands, and David his ten thousands?

6 ¶ 그때 아키시가 다윗을 불러 그에게 이같이 말하였더라. “주께서 살아 계심을 두고 맹세하노니, 확실히 너는 올바르게 행동해 왔고, 군대 안에서 나와 함께 네가 나가고 네가 들어오는 것이 내 눈에 보기 좋도다. 이는 내가 오늘날에 이르기까지 네가 나에게 온 날 이래로 네 안에서 악을 발견하지 못하였기 때문이라. 그럼에도 불구하고 군주들은 너에게 호의적이지 않도다.

6 ¶ Then Achish called David, and said unto him, Surely, as the LORD liveth, thou hast been upright, and thy going out and thy coming in with me in the host is good in my sight: for I have not found evil in thee since the day of thy coming unto me unto this day: nevertheless the lords favour thee not.

7 이러한 이유로 이제 귀환하고 평안히 가라. 이는 네가 필리스티아인들의 군주들을 불쾌하게 하지 않도록 하려 함이라.”

7 Wherefore now return, and go in peace, that thou displease not the lords of the Philistines.

8 ¶ 그러자 다윗이 아키시에게 말하기를, “그러나 제가 무엇을 하였나이까? 또 당신께서는 제가 이날까지 당신 곁에 있는 동안 당신의 종에게서 무엇을 발견하셨기에 제가 나의 군주인 왕의 원수들을 대적하여 싸우러 갈 수 없나이까?” 하였더라.

8 ¶ And David said unto Achish, But what have I done? and what hast thou found in thy servant so long as I have been with thee unto this day, that I may not go fight against the enemies of my lord the king?

9 이에 아키시가 대답하여 다윗에게 말하기를, “나는 네가 나의 목전에 마치 하나님의 천사같이 선한 것을 아노라. 그럼에도 불구하고 필리스티아인들의 통치자들은 말하기를, ‘그가 우리와 함께 전투하러 올라가서는 아니 되는도다.’ 하였느니라.

9 And Achish answered and said to David, I know that thou art good in my sight, as an angel of God: notwithstanding the princes of the Philistines have said, He shall not go up with us to the battle.

10 이러한 이유에서 이제 너와 함께 온 너의 주인의 종들과 더불어 아침에 일찍 일어나라. 그리고 너희는 아침에 일찍 일어나자마자 또 햇빛이 비치자마자 출발하라.” 하였더라.

10 Wherefore now rise up early in the morning with thy master's servants that are come with thee: and as soon as ye be up early in the morning, and have light, depart.

11 그렇게 하여 다윗과 그의 사람들이 아침에 일찍 출발하려고 일어나서 필리스티아인들의 지역으로 되돌아갔더라. 그런데 필리스티아인들은 이즈르엘로 올라갔더라.

11 So David and his men rose up early to depart in the morning, to return into the land of the Philistines. And the Philistines went up to Jezreel.
