사무엘기상 21장

1 그때 다윗이 제사장 아히멜렉이 있는 놉으로 왔더라. 그런데 아히멜렉은 다윗과의 만남을 무서워하며 그에게 말하기를, “어찌하여 당신은 홀로 있고 당신과 함께한 사람이 없나이까?” 하였더라.

1 Then came David to Nob to Ahimelech the priest: and Ahimelech was afraid at the meeting of David, and said unto him, Why art thou alone, and no man with thee?

2 그러자 다윗이 제사장 아히멜렉에게 이같이 말하였더라. “왕께서 제게 한 임무를 명령하셨는데 제게 말씀하시기를, ‘내가 너를 보내는 임무와 내가 너에게 명령하는 것에 관해서는 아무도, 어떤 것도 모르게 하라.’ 하셨나이다. 그런즉 제가 저의 종들을 이러이러한 장소에 지정하였나이다.

2 And David said unto Ahimelech the priest, The king hath commanded me a business, and hath said unto me, Let no man know any thing of the business whereabout I send thee, and what I have commanded thee: and I have appointed my servants to such and such a place.

3 그러므로 지금 당신의 수하에 무엇이 있나이까? 저를 위해 빵 다섯 덩이나, 거기에 있는 것을 제 손에 주소서.”

3 Now therefore what is under thine hand? give me five loaves of bread in mine hand, or what there is present.

4 그러자 그 제사장이 다윗에게 대답하여 이같이 말하였더라. “제 수하에는 일반적인 빵은 없으나, 거룩하게 구별된 빵은 있나이다. 만일 그 청년들이 적어도 여자들에게서 자신들을 멀리하였다면, 줄 수 있나이다.”

4 And the priest answered David, and said, There is no common bread under mine hand, but there is hallowed bread; if the young men have kept themselves at least from women.

5 그러자 다윗이 제사장에게 대답하여 그에게 말하기를, “참으로 제가 나온 이후부터 이번 약 삼 일 동안 여자들이 저희로부터 멀리 있었나이다. 그런즉 진정 이날에 그것이 그릇 안에서 성결하게 구별되었을지라도 청년들의 그릇들은 거룩하며, 어떤 면에서 그 빵은 평범하나이다.” 하였더라.

5 And David answered the priest, and said unto him, Of a truth women have been kept from us about these three days, since I came out, and the vessels of the young men are holy, and the bread is in a manner common, yea, though it were sanctified this day in the vessel.

6 그렇게 하여 제사장이 그에게 거룩하게 구별된 빵을 주었더라. 이는 오직 진열하는 빵 외에는 빵이 그곳에 없었기 때문이라. 이는 주 앞에서 그것이 치워졌기 때문이니, 그것이 치워지는 날에 뜨거운 빵을 놓으려 함이라.

6 So the priest gave him hallowed bread: for there was no bread there but the shewbread, that was taken from before the LORD, to put hot bread in the day when it was taken away.

7 이때 사울의 종들에 속한 어떤 남자가 주 앞에서 발이 묶여 그날 거기에 있었으니, 그의 이름은 도엑이요, 그는 에돔족이자 사울에 속한 목부들 중 제일가는 자였더라.

7 Now a certain man of the servants of Saul was there that day, detained before the LORD; and his name was Doeg, an Edomite, the chiefest of the herdmen that belonged to Saul.

8 ¶ 이어서 다윗이 아히멜렉에게 말하기를, “또 여기 당신의 수하에 칼이나 창이 있나이까? 이는 왕의 임무가 신속함을 요한 까닭에 제가 저의 칼이나 저의 무기들을 제 곁에 챙겨 오지 않았기 때문이니이다.” 하였더라.

8 ¶ And David said unto Ahimelech, And is there not here under thine hand spear or sword? for I have neither brought my sword nor my weapons with me, because the king's business required haste.

9 그러자 제사장이 말하기를, “보소서, 당신께서 엘라 골짜기 가운데서 살해한 필리스티아인인 골리앗의 칼, 그것이 에봇 뒤에 천 안에 싸인 채 여기에 있나이다. 만일 당신께서 그것을 취하시려면, 그것을 취해 가소서. 이는 여기에 그것 이외에 다른 것이 없기 때문이니이다.” 하였더라. 이에 다윗이 말하기를, “그것만 한 것이 아무것도 없나니, 그것을 저에게 주소서.” 하였더라.

9 And the priest said, The sword of Goliath the Philistine, whom thou slewest in the valley of Elah, behold, it is here wrapped in a cloth behind the ephod: if thou wilt take that, take it: for there is no other save that here. And David said, There is none like that; give it me.

10 ¶ 그러자 다윗이 일어나 사울에 대한 두려움으로 인하여 그날 도망쳐서 가드 왕 아키시에게 갔더라.

10 ¶ And David arose, and fled that day for fear of Saul, and went to Achish the king of Gath.

11 이에 아키시의 종들이 그에게 말하기를, “이 자는 그 지역의 왕인 다윗이 아니니이까? 그들이 그에 관하여 춤들을 추고 서로 노래하며 말하기를, ‘사울이 살해한 자는 수천이요, 다윗이 살해한 자는 수만이라.’ 하지 아니하였나이까?” 하였더라.

11 And the servants of Achish said unto him, Is not this David the king of the land? did they not sing one to another of him in dances, saying, Saul hath slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands?

12 그러자 다윗이 이 말들을 자기 마음속에 담아 두었으니, 가드 왕 아키시를 심히 무서워하였더라.

12 And David laid up these words in his heart, and was sore afraid of Achish the king of Gath.

13 그리하여 그가 그들 앞에서 자신의 행동을 바꾸고 그들의 손안에서 스스로 미친 체하였으니, 현관 문짝들을 긁고 자신의 수염에 자기 침이 흘러내리게 하였더라.

13 And he changed his behaviour before them, and feigned himself mad in their hands, and scrabbled on the doors of the gate, and let his spittle fall down upon his beard.

14 그때 아키시가 그의 종들에게 이같이 말하였더라. “보라, 너희는 그 남자가 미친 것을 보는도다. 그렇다면 어찌 너희는 그를 나에게로 데려왔느냐?

14 Then said Achish unto his servants, Lo, ye see the man is mad: wherefore then have ye brought him to me?

15 내게 미친 사람들이 필요하기에 너희가 나의 면전에서 미친 사람 짓거리를 하라고 이 사내를 데려왔느냐? 이 사내가 나의 집 안으로 들어와야겠느냐?”

15 Have I need of mad men, that ye have brought this fellow to play the mad man in my presence? shall this fellow come into my house?
