민수기 23장

1 이후에 발라암이 발락에게 말하기를, “나에게 일곱 제단을 여기에 쌓아 주소서. 그런 다음에 일곱 마리의 소들과 일곱 마리의 숫양들을 여기에 예비해 주소서.” 하였더라.

1 And Balaam said unto Balak, Build me here seven altars, and prepare me here seven oxen and seven rams.

2 그러자 발라암이 이야기한 대로 발락이 행하였더라. 이에 발락과 발라암이 모든 제단 위에 저마다 수송아지 한 마리와 숫양 한 마리씩 바쳤더라.

2 And Balak did as Balaam had spoken; and Balak and Balaam offered on every altar a bullock and a ram.

3 그런 다음에 발라암이 발락에게 말하기를, “당신의 번제물 옆에 서소서. 그리하면 제가 가겠나이다. 어쩌면 주께서 저를 만나려고 오시리이다. 그리하면 그분께서 제게 보여 주시는 것은 무엇이든지 제가 당신께 알리겠나이다.” 하였더라. 그런 다음에 그가 어떤 높은 처소에 올랐더라.

3 And Balaam said unto Balak, Stand by thy burnt offering, and I will go: peradventure the LORD will come to meet me: and whatsoever he sheweth me I will tell thee. And he went to an high place.

4 이윽고 하나님께서 발라암을 만나셨더라. 이에 그가 그분께 말씀드리기를, “제가 일곱 제단을 준비하였으며, 제가 모든 제단 위에 저마다 수송아지 한 마리와 숫양 한 마리씩 바쳤나이다.” 하였더라.

4 And God met Balaam: and he said unto him, I have prepared seven altars, and I have offered upon every altar a bullock and a ram.

5 그러자 주께서 발라암의 입안에 한 말씀을 넣어 주시고 말씀하시기를, “너는 발락에게 되돌아가서 이와 같이 전할지니라.” 하셨느니라.

5 And the LORD put a word in Balaam's mouth, and said, Return unto Balak, and thus thou shalt speak.

6 그리하여 그가 발락에게로 되돌아갔는데, 보라, 발락과, 모압의 모든 통치자들이 그의 번제의 희생 제물 옆에 서 있었더라.

6 And he returned unto him, and, lo, he stood by his burnt sacrifice, he, and all the princes of Moab.

7 그러고 나서 발라암이 그의 비유를 지어 이같이 말하였더라. “모압 왕 발락이 나를 아람으로부터, 동쪽 산들에서 데려오며 말하기를, ‘오라, 나를 위하여 야곱을 저주하며, 오라, 이스라엘에게 맞서라.’ 하는도다.

7 And he took up his parable, and said, Balak the king of Moab hath brought me from Aram, out of the mountains of the east, saying, Come, curse me Jacob, and come, defy Israel.

8 내가 어떻게 하나님께서 저주하지 않으신 자를 저주하리오? 또는 내가 어떻게 주께서 맞서지 않은 자에게 맞서리요?

8 How shall I curse, whom God hath not cursed? or how shall I defy, whom the LORD hath not defied?

9 이는 바위들 꼭대기에서 내가 그를 살피고, 언덕들에서 내가 그를 보기 때문이라. 보라, 그 백성은 홀로 거할 것이요, 민족들 가운데 집계되지 아니하리라.

9 For from the top of the rocks I see him, and from the hills I behold him: lo, the people shall dwell alone, and shall not be reckoned among the nations.

10 누가 야곱의 티끌을 계산할 수 있으며 이스라엘의 사분의 일의 수를 계산할 수 있으랴? 나로 하여금 의로운 자의 죽음으로 죽게 하고, 나의 마지막 결말이 의로운 자의 결말과 같게 하라!”

10 Who can count the dust of Jacob, and the number of the fourth part of Israel? Let me die the death of the righteous, and let my last end be like his!

11 그러자 발락이 발라암에게 말하기를, “네가 나에게 무슨 짓을 하였느냐? 나의 원수들을 저주하게 하려고 내가 너를 데려왔는데, 보라, 너는 그들을 전적으로 축복하였도다.” 하였더라.

11 And Balak said unto Balaam, What hast thou done unto me? I took thee to curse mine enemies, and, behold, thou hast blessed them altogether.

12 이에 그가 대답하여 말하기를, “주께서 제 입안에 넣어 주신 것을 제가 반드시 주의해서 전해야 하지 않겠나이까?” 하였더라.

12 And he answered and said, Must I not take heed to speak that which the LORD hath put in my mouth?

13 그러자 발락이 그에게 말하기를, “오라, 내가 너에게 간구하노니, 나와 함께 또 다른 곳으로 가자. 네가 거기서 그들을 볼 수 있으리라. 너는 그들의 맨 끝부분만을 볼 것이요, 그들 전체를 보지는 못하리라. 거기서 나를 위하여 그들을 저주해 달라.” 하였더라.

13 And Balak said unto him, Come, I pray thee, with me unto another place, from whence thou mayest see them: thou shalt see but the utmost part of them, and shalt not see them all: and curse me them from thence.

14 ¶ 그러자 그가 그를 조핌의 들로 데리고 들어가서 피스가의 꼭대기로 향하였으니, 일곱 제단을 쌓고 나서 모든 제단 위에 저마다 수송아지 한 마리와 숫양 한 마리씩 바쳤더라.

14 ¶ And he brought him into the field of Zophim, to the top of Pisgah, and built seven altars, and offered a bullock and a ram on every altar.

15 그런 다음에 그가 발락에게 말하기를, “제가 저쪽에서 주를 만나는 동안 여기 당신의 번제물 옆에 서 있으소서.” 하였더라.

15 And he said unto Balak, Stand here by thy burnt offering, while I meet the LORD yonder.

16 그러자 주께서 발라암을 만나셨으니, 그의 입안에 한 말씀을 넣어 주시고 말씀하시기를, “발락에게 다시 가서 이와 같이 말하라.” 하셨느니라.

16 And the LORD met Balaam, and put a word in his mouth, and said, Go again unto Balak, and say thus.

17 이에 그가 그에게 왔을 때, 보라, 그가 그와 함께 있는 모압의 통치자들과 그의 번제물 옆에 서 있었더라. 그리고 발락이 그에게 말하기를, “주께서 무엇이라 이르시더냐?” 하였더라.

17 And when he came to him, behold, he stood by his burnt offering, and the princes of Moab with him. And Balak said unto him, What hath the LORD spoken?

18 그러자 그가 그의 비유를 지어 이같이 말하였더라. “일어나라, 발락이여, 그리고 들으라. 너 집폴의 아들이여, 나에게 경청하라.

18 And he took up his parable, and said, Rise up, Balak, and hear; hearken unto me, thou son of Zippor:

19 하나님께서는 사람이 아니시니, 그분께서는 거짓말하지 아니하시는도다. 사람의 아들도 아니시니, 그분께서는 후회하지도 아니하시는도다. 그분께서 말씀하셨는데 그분께서 그것을 행하지 아니하시겠느냐? 아니면 그분께서 이르셨는데 그분께서 그것을 이행하지 아니하시겠느냐?

19 God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?

20 보라, 내가 축복하라는 명령을 받았도다. 그런즉 그분께서 복을 주셨으니, 내가 그것을 뒤집을 수 없도다.

20 Behold, I have received commandment to bless: and he hath blessed; and I cannot reverse it.

21 그분께서는 야곱 안에서 죄악을 보지 아니하셨으며, 그분께서는 이스라엘 안에서 비뚤어짐을 보지도 아니하셨도다. 주 그의 하나님께서 그와 함께하시니, 왕의 함성이 그들 가운데 있도다.

21 He hath not beheld iniquity in Jacob, neither hath he seen perverseness in Israel: the LORD his God is with him, and the shout of a king is among them.

22 하나님께서 그들을 이집트에서 데리고 나오셨도다. 그는 마치 유니콘과 같은 힘을 지녔도다.

22 God brought them out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of an unicorn.

23 야곱을 대적할 마력은 전혀 없도다. 이스라엘을 대적할 어떠한 점술도 없도다. 이때를 따라 야곱에 관하여, 곧 이스라엘에 관하여 언급되기를, ‘하나님께서 무슨 일을 이루셨느냐!’ 하리라.

23 Surely there is no enchantment against Jacob, neither is there any divination against Israel: according to this time it shall be said of Jacob and of Israel, What hath God wrought!

24 보라, 그 백성이 거대한 사자같이 일어나고 젊은 사자같이 스스로를 들어 올리리라. 그는 자신이 먹이를 먹을 때까지, 또 그 살해당한 것의 피를 마실 때까지 눕지 아니하리라.”

24 Behold, the people shall rise up as a great lion, and lift up himself as a young lion: he shall not lie down until he eat of the prey, and drink the blood of the slain.

25 ¶ 그러자 발락이 발라암에게 말하기를, “그들을 아예 저주하지도 말고, 아예 축복하지도 말라.” 하였더라.

25 ¶ And Balak said unto Balaam, Neither curse them at all, nor bless them at all.

26 그러나 발라암이 발락에게 이같이 대답하여 말하였더라. “제가 당신께 알리며 말씀드리기를, ‘주께서 이르시는 모든 것을 제가 반드시 행해야만 하나이다.’ 하지 아니하였나이까?”

26 But Balaam answered and said unto Balak, Told not I thee, saying, All that the LORD speaketh, that I must do?

27 ¶ 그러자 발락이 발라암에게 말하기를, “오라, 내가 너에게 간구하노니, 내가 너를 또 다른 장소로 데려가겠노라. 어쩌면 그것이 하나님을 기쁘게 해 드려 네가 거기서 나를 위하여 그들을 저주해 줄 수 있으리라.” 하였더라.

27 ¶ And Balak said unto Balaam, Come, I pray thee, I will bring thee unto another place; peradventure it will please God that thou mayest curse me them from thence.

28 그리하여 발락이 발라암을 여시몬 쪽을 바라보는 프올의 꼭대기로 데려갔더라.

28 And Balak brought Balaam unto the top of Peor, that looketh toward Jeshimon.

29 그런즉 발라암이 발락에게 말하기를, “여기에서 제게 일곱 제단을 쌓아 주소서. 그리고 여기에서 제게 수송아지 일곱 마리와 숫양 일곱 마리를 예비해 주소서.” 하였더라.

29 And Balaam said unto Balak, Build me here seven altars, and prepare me here seven bullocks and seven rams.

30 그러자 발라암이 말한 대로 발락이 행하였으니, 모든 제단 위에 저마다 수송아지 한 마리와 숫양 한 마리씩 바쳤더라.

30 And Balak did as Balaam had said, and offered a bullock and a ram on every altar.
