예레미야서 16장

1 또한 주의 말씀이 나에게 임하여 이같이 말씀하셨느니라.

1 The word of the LORD came also unto me, saying,

2 “너는 이곳에서 너에게 한 아내를 취하지 말고 아들들이나 딸들도 두지 말지니라.

2 Thou shalt not take thee a wife, neither shalt thou have sons or daughters in this place.

3 이는 이곳 안에서 태어나는 아들들과 딸들에 관하여, 그들을 낳은 그들의 어머니들에 관하여, 이 지역 안에서 그들을 낳은 그들의 아버지들에 관하여 주가 이같이 말하기 때문이라.

3 For thus saith the LORD concerning the sons and concerning the daughters that are born in this place, and concerning their mothers that bare them, and concerning their fathers that begat them in this land;

4 그들이 참혹한 죽음들로 죽으리라. 그들은 애도를 받지 못할 것이요, 그들은 묻히지도 못하리니, 다만 그들이 땅의 표면 위에서 똥같이 되리라. 그리고 그들은 칼과 기근에 의하여 소멸되리라. 그리하여 그들의 사체들은 하늘의 날짐승들과 땅의 짐승들을 위한 음식이 되리라.

4 They shall die of grievous deaths; they shall not be lamented; neither shall they be buried; but they shall be as dung upon the face of the earth: and they shall be consumed by the sword, and by famine; and their carcases shall be meat for the fowls of heaven, and for the beasts of the earth.

5 이는 주가 이같이 말하기 때문이라. 애곡하는 집으로 들어가지 말라. 애도하러 가지도 말고, 그들을 두고 통곡하지도 말라. 이는 내가 이 백성에게서 나의 화평을 제거하였기 때문이니, 곧 인애와 자비들이라. 주가 말하노라.

5 For thus saith the LORD, Enter not into the house of mourning, neither go to lament nor bemoan them: for I have taken away my peace from this people, saith the LORD, even lovingkindness and mercies.

6 큰 자, 작은 자 할 것 없이 이 지역 안에서 죽으리라. 그들은 장사되지도 아니할 것이요, 사람들은 그들을 위하여 애통해하지도 아니할 것이며, 그들을 위하여 스스로를 베거나 스스로를 대머리로 만들지도 아니하리라.

6 Both the great and the small shall die in this land: they shall not be buried, neither shall men lament for them, nor cut themselves, nor make themselves bald for them:

7 또한 사람들이 죽은 자들을 위하여 그들을 위로하고자 그들을 위하여 애곡하는 가운데 자신의 몸을 찢지도 아니하리라. 사람들이 그들의 아버지나 그들의 어머니를 위하여 그들에게 위안의 잔을 마시라고 주지도 아니하리라.

7 Neither shall men tear themselves for them in mourning, to comfort them for the dead; neither shall men give them the cup of consolation to drink for their father or for their mother.

8 또한 너는 잔칫집 안으로 들어가지 말지니, 그들과 함께 먹고 마시려고 앉으려 하지 말지니라.

8 Thou shalt not also go into the house of feasting, to sit with them to eat and to drink.

9 이는 만군의 주 이스라엘의 하나님이 이같이 말하기 때문이라. 보라, 내가 너희의 날들에, 또 너희의 눈앞에서 희락의 음성과 반가움의 음성과 신랑의 음성과 신부의 음성을 이곳에서 그치게 하겠노라.

9 For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will cause to cease out of this place in your eyes, and in your days, the voice of mirth, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride.

10 ¶ 그런즉 네가 이 백성에게 이 모든 말들을 보이고 그들이 너에게 말하기를, ‘어찌 주께서 우리를 대적하여 이 모든 엄청난 해악을 천명하셨느냐? 혹은 우리의 죄악이 무엇이냐? 혹은 우리가 주 우리 하나님을 대적하여 저지른 우리의 죄가 무엇이냐?’ 할 때 이러한 일이 있으리라.

10 ¶ And it shall come to pass, when thou shalt shew this people all these words, and they shall say unto thee, Wherefore hath the LORD pronounced all this great evil against us? or what is our iniquity? or what is our sin that we have committed against the LORD our God?

11 그때 너는 그들에게 이같이 말하라. 주가 말하노라. 이는 너희의 조상들이 나를 저버리고 다른 신들을 따라 살아갔으며 그들을 섬기고 그들을 경배하며 나를 저버렸고 나의 율법을 지키지 아니하였기 때문이라.

11 Then shalt thou say unto them, Because your fathers have forsaken me, saith the LORD, and have walked after other gods, and have served them, and have worshipped them, and have forsaken me, and have not kept my law;

12 그리고 너희는 너희 조상들보다 더 악하게 행하였도다. 이는 보라, 너희 모두가 저마다 자신의 악한 마음의 상상을 따라 살아가기 때문이라. 그들이 나에게 경청하지 않으려 함이라.

12 And ye have done worse than your fathers; for, behold, ye walk every one after the imagination of his evil heart, that they may not hearken unto me:

13 그러므로 내가 너희를 이 지역에서 너희가 모르는 지역으로 쫓아내겠으니, 곧 너희도, 너희의 조상들도 모르는 지역이라. 그리하면 너희는 거기서 주야로 다른 신들을 섬기리니, 그곳에서는 내가 너희에게 호의를 보이지 아니하겠노라.

13 Therefore will I cast you out of this land into a land that ye know not, neither ye nor your fathers; and there shall ye serve other gods day and night; where I will not shew you favour.

14 ¶ 그러므로 보라, 그날들이 오나니, 더 이상 ‘이집트 지역에서 이스라엘 자녀들을 데리고 올라오신 주께서 살아 계시는도다.’ 하고 언급되지 아니하리라. 주가 말하노라.

14 ¶ Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that it shall no more be said, The LORD liveth, that brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt;

15 오히려 이러한 말이 있으리니, ‘이스라엘 자녀들을 북쪽 지역과 친히 그들을 그리 내모신 모든 지역들에서 데리고 올라오신 주께서 살아 계시는도다.’ 하리라. 그리고 내가 그들을 친히 그들의 조상들에게 주었던 그들의 지역으로 다시 데려오겠노라.

15 But, The LORD liveth, that brought up the children of Israel from the land of the north, and from all the lands whither he had driven them: and I will bring them again into their land that I gave unto their fathers.

16 ¶ 보라, 내가 사람들을 보내서 많은 어부들을 데려오라고 보내겠노라. 주가 말하노라. 그리하면 그들이 저들을 낚으리라. 그러고 난 뒤에 나는 많은 사냥꾼들을 데려오라고 보내겠으니, 그들이 각각의 모든 산과 모든 언덕에서 저들을 사냥할 것이요, 바위 굴들에서 그리하리라.

16 ¶ Behold, I will send for many fishers, saith the LORD, and they shall fish them; and after will I send for many hunters, and they shall hunt them from every mountain, and from every hill, and out of the holes of the rocks.

17 이는 나의 눈들이 그들의 모든 길들 위에 있기 때문이라. 그들은 나의 얼굴을 떠나 숨지 못하리라. 그들의 불법도 나의 눈들로부터 숨겨지지 아니하리라.

17 For mine eyes are upon all their ways: they are not hid from my face, neither is their iniquity hid from mine eyes.

18 그리하여 먼저 나는 그들의 죄악과 그들의 죄를 두 배로 갚겠노라. 이는 그들이 나의 토지를 더럽히고 그들이 나의 유산을 그들의 혐오스럽고도 가증한 것들의 사체들로 채웠기 때문이라.

18 And first I will recompense their iniquity and their sin double; because they have defiled my land, they have filled mine inheritance with the carcases of their detestable and abominable things.

19 오, 나의 힘이시요, 나의 견고한 요새시며, 고난의 날에 나의 피난처이신 주여, 이방인들이 땅의 끝들에서부터 당신께 나아올 것이요, 말하기를, ‘과연 우리 조상들은 거짓말들과 헛된 것과 그 안에 유익이 전혀 없는 것들을 상속하였나이다.’ 하리이다.

19 O LORD, my strength, and my fortress, and my refuge in the day of affliction, the Gentiles shall come unto thee from the ends of the earth, and shall say, Surely our fathers have inherited lies, vanity, and things wherein there is no profit.

20 사람이 신들이 아닌 것들을 자신에게 신들로 만들어 두어야 하겠나이까?

20 Shall a man make gods unto himself, and they are no gods?

21 그러므로 보라, 이번에 내가 그들로 하여금 단번에 알게 하겠노라. 나는 그들에게 나의 손과 나의 막강함을 알게 하겠노라. 그리하면 그들은 나의 이름이 주라는 것을 알리라.

21 Therefore, behold, I will this once cause them to know, I will cause them to know mine hand and my might; and they shall know that my name is The LORD.
