예레미야서 9장

1 오, 나의 머리가 물들이고 나의 두 눈이 눈물들의 원천이라면, 내가 내 백성의 딸의 살해된 자들로 인하여 주야로 울 수 있다면 얼마나 좋을까!

1 Oh that my head were waters, and mine eyes a fountain of tears, that I might weep day and night for the slain of the daughter of my people!

2 오, 내가 광야 가운데서 도보 여행자들의 숙박처를 얻었다면, 내가 나의 백성을 버려두고 그들을 떠나갔다면 얼마나 좋을까! 이는 그들이 모두 간음하는 자들이요, 배신하는 사람들의 집회이기 때문이라.

2 Oh that I had in the wilderness a lodging place of wayfaring men; that I might leave my people, and go from them! for they be all adulterers, an assembly of treacherous men.

3 그런즉 그들이 거짓말들을 위해서는 자신들의 혀를 그들의 활처럼 구부리는도다. 그러나 그들은 땅 위의 진리를 위해서는 용맹하지 아니하도다. 그들이 악에서 악으로 추진하므로 그들은 나를 모르는도다. 주가 말하노라.

3 And they bend their tongues like their bow for lies: but they are not valiant for the truth upon the earth; for they proceed from evil to evil, and they know not me, saith the LORD.

4 너희는 모두 저마다 자기 이웃을 주의하라. 그리하여 너희는 어떤 형제도 신뢰하지 말라. 이는 모든 형제가 저마다 모조리 찬탈할 것이요, 모든 이웃이 저마다 중상들을 하며 활보할 것이기 때문이라.

4 Take ye heed every one of his neighbour, and trust ye not in any brother: for every brother will utterly supplant, and every neighbour will walk with slanders.

5 그리고 그들은 모두 저마다 자기 이웃을 속이며 진리를 말하지 아니하리라. 그들이 자신들의 혀를 가르쳐서 거짓말들을 내뱉게 하였고 죄악을 저질러 스스로 지치게 하는도다.

5 And they will deceive every one his neighbour, and will not speak the truth: they have taught their tongue to speak lies, and weary themselves to commit iniquity.

6 너의 거처가 속임수 한복판에 있도다. 그들이 속임수로 인하여 나를 알기를 거부하는도다. 주가 말하노라.

6 Thine habitation is in the midst of deceit; through deceit they refuse to know me, saith the LORD.

7 그러므로 만군의 주가 이같이 말하노라. 보라, 내가 그들을 녹이고, 그들을 정련하겠노라. 그런즉 내가 나의 백성의 딸을 어떻게 하랴?

7 Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, Behold, I will melt them, and try them; for how shall I do for the daughter of my people?

8 그들의 혀는 쏘아 버린 화살과 같으니, 그것이 속임수를 내뱉는도다. 어떤 이가 자기 입으로는 자기 이웃에게 평화적으로 이야기하나, 그가 마음속으로는 숨어 기다리는도다.

8 Their tongue is as an arrow shot out; it speaketh deceit: one speaketh peaceably to his neighbour with his mouth, but in heart he layeth his wait.

9 ¶ 내가 이런 것들로 인하여 그들을 벌하지 아니하겠느냐? 주가 말하노라. 그리고 나의 혼이 이와 같은 민족에게 복수가 이루어지게 하지 않겠느냐?

9 ¶ Shall I not visit them for these things? saith the LORD: shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?

10 내가 산들로 인하여 울고 통곡하는 것을 짓고 광야의 거처들로 인하여 애가를 짓겠으니, 그것들이 타 버려서 아무도 그것들을 지나다니지 아니하는 까닭이라. 또한 사람들은 가축들의 음성도 들을 수 없도다. 하늘들의 날짐승과 짐승들 모두 도망한 상태이니, 그들이 떠났도다.

10 For the mountains will I take up a weeping and wailing, and for the habitations of the wilderness a lamentation, because they are burned up, so that none can pass through them; neither can men hear the voice of the cattle; both the fowl of the heavens and the beast are fled; they are gone.

11 그리고 나는 예루살렘을 무더기들과 용들의 소굴로 만들겠노라. 그리고 나는 유다의 도시들을 황량하게 만들어서 거주자 한 명도 없게 하리라.

11 And I will make Jerusalem heaps, and a den of dragons; and I will make the cities of Judah desolate, without an inhabitant.

12 ¶ 이 일을 이해할 수 있는 지혜로운 사람이 누구냐? 또 주의 입이 그에게 말하면 그것을 선언할 수 있는 자가 누구냐? 그 지역이 멸망하여 광야같이 타 버리고 지나다니는 자가 아무도 없는 것은 무엇 때문이냐?

12 ¶ Who is the wise man, that may understand this? and who is he to whom the mouth of the LORD hath spoken, that he may declare it, for what the land perisheth and is burned up like a wilderness, that none passeth through?

13 그런즉 주가 말하노라. 이는 그들이 내가 그들 앞에 세운 나의 율법을 저버렸고 나의 음성에 순종하지 아니하였으며 그 가운데 살아가지도 아니하였기 때문이라.

13 And the LORD saith, Because they have forsaken my law which I set before them, and have not obeyed my voice, neither walked therein;

14 오히려 그들은 그들의 본심에서 나오는 상상과 그들의 조상들이 그들에게 가르친 바알들을 따라 살아갔도다.

14 But have walked after the imagination of their own heart, and after Baalim, which their fathers taught them:

15 그러므로 만군의 주, 이스라엘의 하나님이 이같이 말하노라. 보라, 내가 그들, 곧 이 백성을 쑥으로 먹이고, 그들에게 쓸개즙을 탄 물을 마시도록 주겠노라.

15 Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will feed them, even this people, with wormwood, and give them water of gall to drink.

16 또한 내가 그들을 이방 민족들 사이로 흩겠으니, 그들이나 그들의 조상들도 몰랐던 민족들이라. 그리고 나는 그들 뒤로 칼을 보내겠으니, 내가 그들을 진멸시킬 때까지 그리하겠노라.

16 I will scatter them also among the heathen, whom neither they nor their fathers have known: and I will send a sword after them, till I have consumed them.

17 ¶ 만군의 주가 이같이 말하노라. 너희는 숙고하라. 그리고 애곡하는 여자들이 올 수 있도록 그들을 부르라. 그리고 영민한 여자들이 올 수 있도록 그들을 부르러 사람을 보내라.

17 ¶ Thus saith the LORD of hosts, Consider ye, and call for the mourning women, that they may come; and send for cunning women, that they may come:

18 그리하여 우리의 눈에서 눈물들이 흘러내리고 우리의 눈꺼풀이 물들을 왈칵 쏟도록 그들로 하여금 서둘러 우리를 위하여 곡소리를 짓게 하라.

18 And let them make haste, and take up a wailing for us, that our eyes may run down with tears, and our eyelids gush out with waters.

19 이는 통곡의 음성이 시온에서 들리기 때문이라. 어떻게 우리가 약탈당하였는가! 우리가 대단히 당혹스러웠으니, 우리가 그 지역을 저버린 까닭이요, 우리의 주거지들이 우리를 쫓아낸 까닭이라.

19 For a voice of wailing is heard out of Zion, How are we spoiled! we are greatly confounded, because we have forsaken the land, because our dwellings have cast us out.

20 오, 너희, 여자들아, 그럼에도 주의 말씀을 들으라. 그리하여 너희 귀가 그분의 입의 말씀을 받게 하고 너희 딸들에게 곡소리를 가르치며 모두 저마다 자기 이웃에게 애가를 가르치라.

20 Yet hear the word of the LORD, O ye women, and let your ear receive the word of his mouth, and teach your daughters wailing, and every one her neighbour lamentation.

21 이는 사망이 밖에서는 자녀들을, 거리들에서는 청년들을 끊어 버리려고 우리의 창문들 안으로 올라오고 우리의 궁전들 안으로 진입하였기 때문이라.

21 For death is come up into our windows, and is entered into our palaces, to cut off the children from without, and the young men from the streets.

22 전하라, 주가 이같이 말하노라. 심지어 사람들의 사체들이 벌판 위에서 똥같이 떨어질 것이요, 수확하는 사람을 따라 한 줌씩 떨어져 있는 것과 같고 그것들을 거두어들일 자가 아무도 없으리라.

22 Speak, Thus saith the LORD, Even the carcases of men shall fall as dung upon the open field, and as the handful after the harvestman, and none shall gather them.

23 ¶ 주가 이같이 말하노라. 지혜로운 사람은 자기 지혜를 자랑하지 말지어다. 또한 막강한 사람은 자기 위세를 자랑하지 말지어다. 부유한 사람은 자기 재물들을 자랑하지 말지어다.

23 ¶ Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches:

24 오직 자랑하는 자는 이것을 자랑할지니, 그가 명철하여 나를 아는 것, 곧 내가 땅에서 인애와 공의와 의를 집행하는 주임을 아는 것을 자랑하라. 이는 이러한 것들을 내가 크게 즐거워하기 때문이라. 주가 말하노라.

24 But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD.

25 ¶ 주가 말하노라. 보라, 내가 할례받은 모든 자들에게 할례받지 아니한 자들과 더불어 형벌을 내릴 그날들이 오나니,

25 ¶ Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will punish all them which are circumcised with the uncircumcised;

26 곧, 이집트와 유다와 에돔과 암몬의 후손들과 모압과 맨 끝 구석들 안에 있는 모든 자들과 광야 가운데 거하는 모든 자들이라. 이는 이 모든 민족들이 할례받지 아니하였으며 이스라엘 집 전체가 마음속에 할례받지 아니하였기 때문이라.”

26 Egypt, and Judah, and Edom, and the children of Ammon, and Moab, and all that are in the utmost corners, that dwell in the wilderness: for all these nations are uncircumcised, and all the house of Israel are uncircumcised in the heart.
