예레미야서 46장

1 이방인들을 대적하여 예언자 예레미야에게 임한 주의 말씀이라.

1 The word of the LORD which came to Jeremiah the prophet against the Gentiles;

2 이는 이집트를 대적한 것이요, 카르케미시 안에 있는 유프라테스강 가에 있었던 이집트 왕 파라오느코의 군사를 대적한 것이니, 그 군사를 유다 왕 요시야의 아들 여호야킴의 제사년에 바빌론 왕 네부카드레자르가 쳤더라.

2 Against Egypt, against the army of Pharaohnecho king of Egypt, which was by the river Euphrates in Carchemish, which Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon smote in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah.

3 너희는 원형 방패와 방패를 정비하여 전투를 향하여 가까이 다가가라.

3 Order ye the buckler and shield, and draw near to battle.

4 너희, 기병들아, 말들에 군장을 갖추고 일어서라. 그리하여 너희의 투구들을 쓰고 앞으로 나오라. 창들에 광을 내고 사슬갑옷들을 입으라.

4 Harness the horses; and get up, ye horsemen, and stand forth with your helmets; furbish the spears, and put on the brigandines.

5 어찌 어쩔 줄 몰라 뒤로 돌이켜 떠난 자들을 내가 보았느냐? 그리하여 그들의 막강한 이들이 쳐부수어졌고 빠른 속도로 도망하였으며 뒤도 돌아보지 아니하였도다. 이는 두려움이 주위에 있었기 때문이라. 주가 말하노라.

5 Wherefore have I seen them dismayed and turned away back? and their mighty ones are beaten down, and are fled apace, and look not back: for fear was round about, saith the LORD.

6 빠른 자가 멀리 도망하지 못하게 하고 막강한 남자도 탈출하지 못하게 하라. 그들이 걸려 넘어지고, 유프라테스강 가에서 북쪽을 향하여 쓰러지리라.

6 Let not the swift flee away, nor the mighty man escape; they shall stumble, and fall toward the north by the river Euphrates.

7 홍수같이 올라오며, 자신의 물들이 강들같이 움직이는 이 자는 누구인가?

7 Who is this that cometh up as a flood, whose waters are moved as the rivers?

8 이집트는 홍수처럼 일어날 것이요, 그의 물들은 강들처럼 일렁이는도다. 그리하여 그가 말하기를, “내가 올라가서 땅을 덮겠노라. 내가 그 도시와 그곳의 거주자들을 멸하겠노라.” 하는도다.

8 Egypt riseth up like a flood, and his waters are moved like the rivers; and he saith, I will go up, and will cover the earth; I will destroy the city and the inhabitants thereof.

9 너희, 말들아, 올라오라. 그리고 너희, 병거들아, 맹위를 떨치라. 그리고 방패를 다루는 에티오피아인들과 리비아인들아, 활을 다루고 당기는 리디아인들아, 막강한 남자들은 앞으로 나올지어다.

9 Come up, ye horses; and rage, ye chariots; and let the mighty men come forth; the Ethiopians and the Libyans, that handle the shield; and the Lydians, that handle and bend the bow.

10 이는 이날이 만군의 주 하나님의 날이요, 그가 자신의 대적들에게 자신의 원수를 갚는 복수의 날이기 때문이라. 그런즉 그 칼이 집어삼키리니 그것이 물리도록 먹고 그들의 피로 취하리라. 이는 만군의 주 하나님이 유프라테스강 가의 북쪽 지방에서 희생 제물을 얻을 것이기 때문이라.

10 For this is the day of the Lord GOD of hosts, a day of vengeance, that he may avenge him of his adversaries: and the sword shall devour, and it shall be satiate and made drunk with their blood: for the Lord GOD of hosts hath a sacrifice in the north country by the river Euphrates.

11 오, 처녀인 이집트의 딸아, 길르앗 내부로 올라가서 향유 연고를 취하라. 너는 많은 약들을 헛되이 쓰리라. 이는 네가 치료받지 못할 것이기 때문이라.

11 Go up into Gilead, and take balm, O virgin, the daughter of Egypt: in vain shalt thou use many medicines; for thou shalt not be cured.

12 민족들이 너의 수치를 들었고, 너의 부르짖음이 육지를 가득 채웠도다. 이는 막강한 남자가 막강한 남자에게 걸려 넘어졌고, 그들이 모두 함께 쓰러졌기 때문이라.

12 The nations have heard of thy shame, and thy cry hath filled the land: for the mighty man hath stumbled against the mighty, and they are fallen both together.

13 ¶ 바빌론 왕 네부카드레자르가 어떻게 와서 이집트 지역을 칠 것인지 주께서 예언자 예레미야에게 전하신 말씀이라.

13 ¶ The word that the LORD spake to Jeremiah the prophet, how Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon should come and smite the land of Egypt.

14 너희는 이집트에서 선언하고, 믹돌에서 공표하며, 놉흐와 타파네스에서 공표하라. 너희는 말하기를, “굳게 서서 자신을 예비하라.” 하라. 이는 칼이 너의 주위에서 집어삼킬 것이기 때문이라.

14 Declare ye in Egypt, and publish in Migdol, and publish in Noph and in Tahpanhes: say ye, Stand fast, and prepare thee; for the sword shall devour round about thee.

15 어찌 너의 용맹한 남자들이 쓸려 가 버렸느냐? 주가 그들을 몰아낸 까닭에 그들이 서지 못하였더라.

15 Why are thy valiant men swept away? they stood not, because the LORD did drive them.

16 그가 많은 이를 쓰러지게 하였으니, 진정 한 사람이 다른 사람 위에 쓰러졌도다. 그런즉 그들이 말하기를, “일어나라. 우리가 압제하는 칼을 피하여 우리의 본래 백성에게로 돌아가고, 우리가 태어난 지역으로 돌아가자.” 하였도다.

16 He made many to fall, yea, one fell upon another: and they said, Arise, and let us go again to our own people, and to the land of our nativity, from the oppressing sword.

17 그들은 거기서 부르짖기를, “이집트 왕 파라오는 요란한 소리에 불과하도다, 그가 정해진 때를 놓쳤도다.” 하였도다.

17 They did cry there, Pharaoh king of Egypt is but a noise; he hath passed the time appointed.

18 내가 살아 있음을 두고 맹세하노니, 그의 이름이 만군의 주인 왕이 말하노라. “타볼이 산들 가운데 있는 것같이, 칼멜이 바다 옆에 있는 것같이 확실하게, 그가 그렇게 오리라.”

18 As I live, saith the King, whose name is the LORD of hosts, Surely as Tabor is among the mountains, and as Carmel by the sea, so shall he come.

19 오, 너, 이집트에 거하는 딸아, 포로로 끌려갈 채비를 몸소 갖추라. 이는 놉흐가 불모지가 되고 황량해져서 거주자가 한 명도 없을 것이기 때문이라.

19 O thou daughter dwelling in Egypt, furnish thyself to go into captivity: for Noph shall be waste and desolate without an inhabitant.

20 이집트는 아주 수려한 암송아지 같으나 멸망이 오는도다. 그것은 북쪽에서 나오는도다.

20 Egypt is like a very fair heifer, but destruction cometh; it cometh out of the north.

21 또한 그녀의 고용된 남자들은 그녀의 한복판에 살진 수송아지들같이 있도다. 이는 그들도 물러나게 되었고, 함께 멀리 도망하게 되었기 때문이라. 그들의 재난의 날이자 그들의 감찰의 때가 그들 위에 임한 까닭에 그들이 서지 못하였도다.

21 Also her hired men are in the midst of her like fatted bullocks; for they also are turned back, and are fled away together: they did not stand, because the day of their calamity was come upon them, and the time of their visitation.

22 그것의 음성은 뱀처럼 가리라. 이는 그들이 군사와 함께 진군하고 벌목꾼들같이 도끼들을 들고 그녀를 대적하여 올 것이기 때문이라.

22 The voice thereof shall go like a serpent; for they shall march with an army, and come against her with axes, as hewers of wood.

23 그녀의 숲이 탐사될 수 없을지라도 그들이 그것을 찍어 쓰러뜨리리라. 주가 말하노라. 이는 그들이 풀무치들보다 더 많으며 무수한 까닭이라.

23 They shall cut down her forest, saith the LORD, though it cannot be searched; because they are more than the grasshoppers, and are innumerable.

24 이집트의 딸이 당혹스러워하리니, 그녀가 북방 백성의 손안에 넘겨지리라.

24 The daughter of Egypt shall be confounded; she shall be delivered into the hand of the people of the north.

25 만군의 주 이스라엘의 하나님이 이같이 말하노라. 보라, 내가 노의 무리와, 파라오와, 이집트에게 그들의 신들과 그들의 왕들과 더불어 형벌을 내리겠으니, 곧 파라오와 그를 신뢰한 모든 자들이라.

25 The LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, saith; Behold, I will punish the multitude of No, and Pharaoh, and Egypt, with their gods, and their kings; even Pharaoh, and all them that trust in him:

26 그리고 내가 그들의 생명을 찾는 자들의 손안에, 바빌론 왕 네부카드레자르의 손안에, 그의 종들의 손안에 그들을 넘기겠노라. 그러고 난 후에 그곳은 옛날들에 그러하였듯이 거주하는 곳이 되리라. 주가 말하노라.

26 And I will deliver them into the hand of those that seek their lives, and into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of his servants: and afterward it shall be inhabited, as in the days of old, saith the LORD.

27 ¶ 오, 나의 종 야곱아, 그러나 너는 두려워하지 말라. 그리고 오, 이스라엘아, 좌절하지 말라. 이는 보라, 내가 너를 멀리 떨어진 곳으로부터 구원할 것이요, 너의 씨를 그들의 포로 생활의 지역으로부터 구원할 것이기 때문이라. 그리하면 야곱이 귀환하여 안식 가운데서 안락하게 있을 것이요, 아무도 그를 무섭게 하지 못하리라.

27 ¶ But fear not thou, O my servant Jacob, and be not dismayed, O Israel: for, behold, I will save thee from afar off, and thy seed from the land of their captivity; and Jacob shall return, and be in rest and at ease, and none shall make him afraid.

28 오, 나의 종 야곱아, 너는 두려워하지 말라. 주가 말하노라. 이는 내가 너와 함께 있기 때문이요, 내가 너를 그리로 몰아낸 모든 민족들을 내가 완전히 끝낼 것이기 때문이라. 그러나 내가 너는 완전히 끝내지 아니하겠으니, 다만 너를 적당한 정도로 바로잡겠노라. 그럼에도 내가 너를 전적으로 처벌하지 아니한 채 남겨 두지는 아니하겠노라.

28 Fear thou not, O Jacob my servant, saith the LORD: for I am with thee; for I will make a full end of all the nations whither I have driven thee: but I will not make a full end of thee, but correct thee in measure; yet will I not leave thee wholly unpunished.
