욥기 29장

1 더욱이 욥이 그의 비유를 이어갔고 이같이 말하였더라.

1 Moreover Job continued his parable, and said,

2 “오, 내가 지나간 달들에 있는 것과 같고, 하나님께서 나를 보존하셨을 때의 날들에 있는 것과 같다면 얼마나 좋을까!

2 Oh that I were as in months past, as in the days when God preserved me;

3 그분의 불빛이 나의 머리 위를 비추었을 때요, 그분의 빛을 통하여 내가 어둠을 통과하여 걸었을 때라.

3 When his candle shined upon my head, and when by his light I walked through darkness;

4 내가 하나님의 비밀이 나의 장막 위에 있었던 때인 나의 젊은 시절의 날들에 있는 것과 같다면 얼마나 좋을까!

4 As I was in the days of my youth, when the secret of God was upon my tabernacle;

5 전능하신 분께서 아직 나와 함께 계셨을 때요, 나의 자식들이 내 주위에 있었을 때요,

5 When the Almighty was yet with me, when my children were about me;

6 내가 나의 걸음들을 버터로 씻고, 반석이 나에게 기름의 강들을 쏟아 냈을 때요,

6 When I washed my steps with butter, and the rock poured me out rivers of oil;

7 내가 도시를 가로질러 성문에서 나갔을 때요, 내가 나의 좌석을 거리 안에 예비하였을 때라.

7 When I went out to the gate through the city, when I prepared my seat in the street!

8 청년들은 나를 보고 자신들을 숨겼도다. 또 나이 많은 자들은 일어나 서 있었도다.

8 The young men saw me, and hid themselves: and the aged arose, and stood up.

9 통치자들이 말하기를 자제하였고, 그들의 손을 자신들의 입에 올렸도다.

9 The princes refrained talking, and laid their hand on their mouth.

10 귀족들은 자신들의 침묵을 지켰고 그들의 혀는 그들의 입천장에 달라붙었도다.

10 The nobles held their peace, and their tongue cleaved to the roof of their mouth.

11 귀가 나의 말을 듣던 그때, 그것이 나를 축복하였도다. 또 눈이 나를 보던 그때, 그것이 나에게 증거하였도다.

11 When the ear heard me, then it blessed me; and when the eye saw me, it gave witness to me:

12 이는 내가 부르짖던 가난한 자와, 아버지 없는 자와, 자신을 도와 줄 사람이 아무도 없는 자를 구출한 까닭이라.

12 Because I delivered the poor that cried, and the fatherless, and him that had none to help him.

13 망하기 직전이었던 자의 복이 나에게 임하였도다. 또 나는 과부의 마음을 즐거움으로 노래하게 하였도다.

13 The blessing of him that was ready to perish came upon me: and I caused the widow's heart to sing for joy.

14 나는 의를 입었고 그것이 나를 옷 입혔도다. 나의 판결은 예복과 보관 같았도다.

14 I put on righteousness, and it clothed me: my judgment was as a robe and a diadem.

15 내가 눈먼 자에게는 두 눈이 되었고, 절뚝거리는 자에게는 두 발이 되었도다.

15 I was eyes to the blind, and feet was I to the lame.

16 내가 가난한 자들에게 아버지가 되었도다. 내가 몰랐던 사정을 내가 샅샅이 찾아내었도다.

16 I was a father to the poor: and the cause which I knew not I searched out.

17 또 내가 사악한 자들의 턱을 부수었고 그의 치아들에서 약탈물을 뽑아냈도다.

17 And I brake the jaws of the wicked, and plucked the spoil out of his teeth.

18 그때 내가 말하기를, ‘내가 나의 보금자리 안에서 죽을 것이요, 내가 모래같이 나의 날들을 크게 늘리리라.’ 하였도다.

18 Then I said, I shall die in my nest, and I shall multiply my days as the sand.

19 나의 뿌리는 물들 옆에서 뻗어 나갔고, 이슬은 밤새 나의 가지 위에 내렸도다.

19 My root was spread out by the waters, and the dew lay all night upon my branch.

20 나의 영광은 내 안에서 신선하였고, 나의 활은 나의 손에서 새롭게 되었도다.

20 My glory was fresh in me, and my bow was renewed in my hand.

21 나에게는 사람들이 귀를 열고 기다려 주었으며 나의 조언 앞에 잠잠하였도다.

21 Unto me men gave ear, and waited, and kept silence at my counsel.

22 내 말들이 있은 후에는 그들이 다시 고하지 아니하였도다. 그리하여 나의 이야기가 그들 위에 떨어졌도다.

22 After my words they spake not again; and my speech dropped upon them.

23 그리고 그들이 비를 바라듯이 나를 기다렸도다. 그런즉 그들이 나중 비를 바라듯이 자신들의 입을 넓게 벌렸도다.

23 And they waited for me as for the rain; and they opened their mouth wide as for the latter rain.

24 설령 내가 그들을 비웃었어도 그들은 그것을 믿지 아니하였도다. 그런즉 그들이 나의 얼굴빛을 암울하게 하지 아니하였도다.

24 If I laughed on them, they believed it not; and the light of my countenance they cast not down.

25 나는 그들의 길을 선별하였고 우두머리로 앉았으며 군사 안에 있는 왕같이, 애곡하는 자들을 위로하는 이같이 지냈도다.

25 I chose out their way, and sat chief, and dwelt as a king in the army, as one that comforteth the mourners.
