욥기 8장

1 그때 슈아족 빌닷이 대답하여 이같이 말하였더라.

1 Then answered Bildad the Shuhite, and said,

2 “얼마나 오랫동안 네가 이런 것들을 말하겠느냐? 그리고 얼마나 오랫동안 너의 입의 말들이 강한 바람같이 되겠느냐?

2 How long wilt thou speak these things? and how long shall the words of thy mouth be like a strong wind?

3 하나님께서 공의를 그르치시느냐? 아니면 전능하신 분께서 정의를 그르치시느냐?

3 Doth God pervert judgment? or doth the Almighty pervert justice?

4 만일 너의 자녀들이 그분을 대적하여 죄를 짓고 그분께서 그들의 불법으로 인하여 그들을 내치셨다 할지라도

4 If thy children have sinned against him, and he have cast them away for their transgression;

5 만일 네가 알맞은 때에 하나님께 구하려 하였고 전능하신 분께 너의 간구를 올렸다면

5 If thou wouldest seek unto God betimes, and make thy supplication to the Almighty;

6 만일 네가 순수하고 올발랐다면 반드시 지금 그분께서 너를 위하여 깨어나시어 너의 의의 거처를 번영하게 만드셨으리라.

6 If thou wert pure and upright; surely now he would awake for thee, and make the habitation of thy righteousness prosperous.

7 비록 너의 시작은 미미하였을지라도 너의 나중 결말은 대단히 융성하리라.

7 Though thy beginning was small, yet thy latter end should greatly increase.

8 그런즉 내가 너에게 간구하노니, 이전 세월의 사람들에게 물어보고 그들 조상들이 탐구한 것들에 이르도록 너 자신을 예비하라.

8 For enquire, I pray thee, of the former age, and prepare thyself to the search of their fathers:

9 (이는 우리가 불과 어제부터 존재하여 아무것도 모르기 때문이요, 우리의 날들이 땅 위에서 그림자인 까닭이라.)

9 (For we are but of yesterday, and know nothing, because our days upon earth are a shadow:)

10 그들이 너를 가르치고 너에게 말하며 그들의 마음에서 우러나온 말들을 발설하지 아니하랴?

10 Shall not they teach thee, and tell thee, and utter words out of their heart?

11 골풀이 진창 없이 자라날 수 있느냐? 붓꽃이 물 없이 자랄 수 있느냐?

11 Can the rush grow up without mire? can the flag grow without water?

12 그것이 여전히 그의 푸름 가운데 있고 베어져 쓰러지지 아니한 동안에도 그것은 다른 어떤 풀잎보다 먼저 시드느니라.

12 Whilst it is yet in his greenness, and not cut down, it withereth before any other herb.

13 하나님을 잊어버린 모든 자들의 행로들이 그와 같으니라. 그리고 위선자의 소망은 망하느니라.

13 So are the paths of all that forget God; and the hypocrite's hope shall perish:

14 그의 소망은 끊어져 버릴 것이요, 그의 신뢰는 거미줄이 되리라.

14 Whose hope shall be cut off, and whose trust shall be a spider's web.

15 그가 그의 집에 기댈 것이나 그것이 서 있지 아니하리라. 그가 그것을 굳게 붙들 것이나 그것이 견디지 못하리라.

15 He shall lean upon his house, but it shall not stand: he shall hold it fast, but it shall not endure.

16 그는 해 앞에서 푸르며 그의 가지는 그의 정원 안에서 새싹을 틔우는도다.

16 He is green before the sun, and his branch shooteth forth in his garden.

17 그의 뿌리들은 무더기 주위를 감싸며 돌들의 처소를 보는도다.

17 His roots are wrapped about the heap, and seeth the place of stones.

18 만일 그분께서 그를 그의 처소로부터 멸망시키지 아니하신다면, 그때 그것은 그분을 부인하며 말하기를, ‘나는 당신을 본 적이 없나이다.’ 하리라.

18 If he destroy him from his place, then it shall deny him, saying, I have not seen thee.

19 보라, 이것은 그분의 길의 즐거움이요, 그 땅에서 다른 이들이 자라리라.

19 Behold, this is the joy of his way, and out of the earth shall others grow.

20 보라, 하나님께서는 완전한 사람을 내치지 아니할 것이요, 그분께서는 악행을 일삼는 자들을 돕지도 아니하실 것이라.

20 Behold, God will not cast away a perfect man, neither will he help the evil doers:

21 그분께서 너의 입을 웃음으로, 너의 입술을 환희로 채우실 때까지 그리하시리라.

21 Till he fill thy mouth with laughing, and thy lips with rejoicing.

22 너를 증오하는 자들은 수치로 옷 입혀질 것이요, 사악한 자들의 거주지는 무로 돌아가리라.”

22 They that hate thee shall be clothed with shame; and the dwelling place of the wicked shall come to nought.
