욥기 34장
1 더 나아가서 엘리후가 답하여 이같이 말하였더라.
1 Furthermore Elihu answered and said,
2 “오, 당신들, 지혜로운 사람들이여, 나의 말들을 들으소서. 또 지식을 지닌 당신들이여, 나의 말을 귀담아들으소서.
2 Hear my words, O ye wise men; and give ear unto me, ye that have knowledge.
3 이는 입이 음식을 맛보듯이 귀가 말들을 평가하기 때문이니이다.
3 For the ear trieth words, as the mouth tasteth meat.
4 우리가 우리에게 판단을 선택하게 하소서. 우리가 우리 가운데서 무엇이 선한지 알게 하소서.
4 Let us choose to us judgment: let us know among ourselves what is good.
5 이는 욥이 이같이 말하였기 때문이니이다. ‘나는 의롭도다. 그리고 하나님께서는 나의 판단을 앗아 가셨도다.
5 For Job hath said, I am righteous: and God hath taken away my judgment.
6 내가 나의 의를 반대하여 거짓말하랴? 불법이 없었는데도 나의 상처는 치료가 불가능하도다.’
6 Should I lie against my right? my wound is incurable without transgression.
7 어떤 사람이 경멸하기를 물처럼 마셔 버리는 욥과 같으리요?
7 What man is like Job, who drinketh up scorning like water?
8 욥이 죄악의 일꾼들과 함께 사귀고 다니며, 사악한 사람들과 동행하는도다.
8 Which goeth in company with the workers of iniquity, and walketh with wicked men.
9 이는 그가 말하기를, ‘사람이 하나님과 함께 스스로 크게 즐거워하는 것은 아무 유익이 없도다.’ 하였기 때문이니이다.
9 For he hath said, It profiteth a man nothing that he should delight himself with God.
10 그러므로 나에게 경청하소서. 당신들 명철의 사람들이여, 그분께서 사악함을 행하셔야 한다는 것은 하나님과는 동떨어져 있나이다. 또 그분께서 죄악을 저지르셔야 한다는 것은 전능하신 분과는 동떨어져 있나이다.
10 Therefore hearken unto me, ye men of understanding: far be it from God, that he should do wickedness; and from the Almighty, that he should commit iniquity.
11 이는 그분께서 사람의 행위를 그에게 돌려주시고 모든 사람마다 그의 길들에 따라 얻도록 하실 것이기 때문이니이다.
11 For the work of a man shall he render unto him, and cause every man to find according to his ways.
12 진정 하나님께서는 분명히 사악하게 행하지 아니하실 것이요, 전능하신 분께서는 공의를 그르치시지도 아니하실 것이니이다.
12 Yea, surely God will not do wickedly, neither will the Almighty pervert judgment.
13 누가 땅 위에 책무를 그분께 드렸나이까? 아니면 누가 온 세상을 알맞게 두었나이까?
13 Who hath given him a charge over the earth? or who hath disposed the whole world?
14 만일 그분께서 자신의 마음을 사람 위에 두신다면, 혹 그분께서 그의 영과 그의 호흡을 자신에게로 거두신다면,
14 If he set his heart upon man, if he gather unto himself his spirit and his breath;
15 모든 육체가 함께 사라지리니 사람이 진토로 다시 돌아가리이다.
15 All flesh shall perish together, and man shall turn again unto dust.
16 만일 지금 당신이 명철을 지니고 있다면 이것을 들으소서. 나의 말들의 음성에 경청하소서.
16 If now thou hast understanding, hear this: hearken to the voice of my words.
17 과연 의를 증오하시는 분이 통치하시리이까? 당신이 지극히 정의로우신 분을 정죄하겠나이까?
17 Shall even he that hateth right govern? and wilt thou condemn him that is most just?
18 왕에게 ‘당신은 사악하도다.’ 하고 말하는 것이 적합하나이까? 또 통치자들에게 ‘당신들은 불경건하도다.’ 하고 말하는 것이 적합하나이까?
18 Is it fit to say to a king, Thou art wicked? and to princes, Ye are ungodly?
19 하물며 통치자들의 외모들을 받아들이지 아니하시는 분이요, 부자를 가난한 자보다 더 유념하지도 아니하시는 분께는 얼마나 덜 적합하겠나이까? 이는 그들 모두가 그분의 두 손이 지으신 것들이기 때문이니이다.
19 How much less to him that accepteth not the persons of princes, nor regardeth the rich more than the poor? for they all are the work of his hands.
20 한순간에 그들은 죽을 것이요, 백성은 한밤중에 곤경을 당하여 사라져 버릴 것이니이다. 또 막강한 자는 손을 대지 않고 제거되리이다.
20 In a moment shall they die, and the people shall be troubled at midnight, and pass away: and the mighty shall be taken away without hand.
21 이는 그분의 눈들이 사람의 길들 위에 있기 때문이요, 그분께서 그의 모든 행보들을 살펴보시기 때문이니이다.
21 For his eyes are upon the ways of man, and he seeth all his goings.
22 죄악의 일꾼들이 자신들을 숨길 수 있는, 어둠도, 사망의 그림자도 없나이다.
22 There is no darkness, nor shadow of death, where the workers of iniquity may hide themselves.
23 이는 그분께서 옳은 것이 아닌 것을 사람에게 부과하지 아니하실 것이기 때문이니이다. 이로써 그는 하나님과 함께 심판으로 들어가야 하나이다.
23 For he will not lay upon man more than right; that he should enter into judgment with God.
24 그분께서 수도 없이 막강한 사람들을 산산조각으로 부수시고, 그들 대신 다른 자들을 세우시리이다.
24 He shall break in pieces mighty men without number, and set others in their stead.
25 그러므로 그분께서 그들의 행위들을 아시나니, 친히 그들을 밤중에 뒤집으시므로 그들이 멸망당하나이다.
25 Therefore he knoweth their works, and he overturneth them in the night, so that they are destroyed.
26 그분께서 다른 이들이 환히 보는 가운데 그들을 사악한 사람들로서 치시는도다.
26 He striketh them as wicked men in the open sight of others;
27 이는 그들이 그분을 떠나 뒤로 돌아섰고 그분의 길들을 조금도 숙고하려 하지 않기 때문이니이다.
27 Because they turned back from him, and would not consider any of his ways:
28 이처럼 그들은 가난한 자의 부르짖음이 그분께 이르도록 초래하나니, 그분께서 고난받는 자들의 부르짖음을 들으시나이다.
28 So that they cause the cry of the poor to come unto him, and he heareth the cry of the afflicted.
29 그분께서 평강을 주실 때 대체 누가 어지럽게 할 수 있나이까? 또 그분께서 자신의 얼굴을 숨기실 때 대체 누가 그분을 볼 수 있나이까? 그것이 민족을 대적하여 이루어지든지, 사람만을 대적하여 이루어지든지 그러하리이다.
29 When he giveth quietness, who then can make trouble? and when he hideth his face, who then can behold him? whether it be done against a nation, or against a man only:
30 이는 위선자가 통치하지 못하게 하려 함이요, 백성이 올무에 걸리지 않도록 하려는 것이니이다.
30 That the hypocrite reign not, lest the people be ensnared.
31 분명히 하나님께 이와 같은 말이 전해지는 것이 온당하나이다. ‘제가 징계를 받아 왔나이다. 제가 더는 범죄하지 아니하겠나이다.
31 Surely it is meet to be said unto God, I have borne chastisement, I will not offend any more:
32 제가 보지 아니한 것을 친히 제게 가르쳐 주옵소서. 설령 제가 죄악을 행하였어도 제가 더 이상 그것을 행하지 아니하겠나이다.’
32 That which I see not teach thou me: if I have done iniquity, I will do no more.
33 그것이 당신의 생각대로 되어야 하겠나이까? 당신이 거부하든지, 당신이 선택하든지 간에 그분께서 그것을 갚으실 것이요, 내가 갚는 것이 아니니이다. 그러므로 당신이 아는 것을 이야기하소서.
33 Should it be according to thy mind? he will recompense it, whether thou refuse, or whether thou choose; and not I: therefore speak what thou knowest.
34 명철의 사람들이 나에게 말하게 하소서. 또 지혜로운 사람이 나에게 경청하게 하소서.
34 Let men of understanding tell me, and let a wise man hearken unto me.
35 욥이 지식 없이 이야기하였고 그의 말들은 지혜가 없었나이다.
35 Job hath spoken without knowledge, and his words were without wisdom.
36 나의 열망은 욥이 끝까지 정련을 받는 것이니, 그의 대답들이 사악한 사람들을 위한 것이기 때문이니이다.
36 My desire is that Job may be tried unto the end because of his answers for wicked men.
37 이는 그가 그의 죄에 반역을 더하기에 그가 우리 가운데서 자신의 두 손으로 손뼉을 치고 하나님을 대적하는 자신의 말들을 크게 늘렸기 때문이니이다.”
37 For he addeth rebellion unto his sin, he clappeth his hands among us, and multiplieth his words against God.
