잠언 11장

1 거짓된 저울은 주께 가증함이라. 그러나 공정한 저울추는 그분의 큰 즐거움이라.

1 A false balance is abomination to the LORD: but a just weight is his delight.

2 교만이 올 때는 그 뒤에 수치도 오느니라. 그러나 겸허한 자에게는 지혜가 있느니라.

2 When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom.

3 올바른 자들의 온전함은 그들을 안내하리라. 그러나 불법자들의 비뚤어짐은 그들을 멸망시키리라.

3 The integrity of the upright shall guide them: but the perverseness of transgressors shall destroy them.

4 재물들은 진노의 날에 유익이 없느니라. 그러나 의는 죽음으로부터 구출하느니라.

4 Riches profit not in the day of wrath: but righteousness delivereth from death.

5 완전한 자의 의는 그의 길을 인도하리라. 그러나 사악한 자는 자기 자신의 사악함으로 인하여 쓰러지리라.

5 The righteousness of the perfect shall direct his way: but the wicked shall fall by his own wickedness.

6 올바른 자들의 의는 그들을 구출하리라. 그러나 불법자들은 그들 자신의 간악함 가운데 붙잡히리라.

6 The righteousness of the upright shall deliver them: but transgressors shall be taken in their own naughtiness.

7 사악한 사람이 죽을 때 그의 기대가 사라질 것이요, 부정한 사람들의 소망도 사라지리라.

7 When a wicked man dieth, his expectation shall perish: and the hope of unjust men perisheth.

8 의로운 자는 곤경에서 구출되나니, 사악한 자가 그를 대신하여 오느니라.

8 The righteous is delivered out of trouble, and the wicked cometh in his stead.

9 위선자는 그의 입으로 자기 이웃을 멸망시키느니라. 그러나 의인은 지식을 통하여 구출되리라.

9 An hypocrite with his mouth destroyeth his neighbour: but through knowledge shall the just be delivered.

10 의로운 자들이 잘될 때는 그 도시가 크게 기뻐하느니라. 그리고 사악한 자들이 멸망할 때는 환호가 있느니라.

10 When it goeth well with the righteous, the city rejoiceth: and when the wicked perish, there is shouting.

11 올바른 자들의 복을 통하여 도시가 크게 높여지느니라. 그러나 사악한 자들의 입을 통하여 그 도시가 뒤엎어지느니라.

11 By the blessing of the upright the city is exalted: but it is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked.

12 지혜가 결여된 자는 자기 이웃을 멸시하느니라. 그러나 명철의 사람은 자신의 침묵을 지키느니라.

12 He that is void of wisdom despiseth his neighbour: but a man of understanding holdeth his peace.

13 소문을 퍼뜨리는 자는 비밀들을 누설하느니라. 그러나 신실한 영을 지닌 자는 그 사안을 감추느니라.

13 A talebearer revealeth secrets: but he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth the matter.

14 조언이 없는 곳에서는 백성이 몰락하느니라. 그러나 조언자들이 많으면 안전이 있느니라.

14 Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.

15 타국인을 위하여 보증인이 되는 자는 그것으로 인하여 피해를 입으리라. 그리고 보증 서기를 증오하는 자는 안전하니라.

15 He that is surety for a stranger shall smart for it: and he that hateth suretiship is sure.

16 은혜로운 여자는 명예를 지니느니라. 그리고 강한 남자들은 재물들을 지니느니라.

16 A gracious woman retaineth honour: and strong men retain riches.

17 자비로운 사람은 자기 자신의 혼에 선을 행하느니라. 그러나 잔인한 자는 자기 자신의 육체를 괴롭게 하느니라.

17 The merciful man doeth good to his own soul: but he that is cruel troubleth his own flesh.

18 사악한 자는 속임수로 가득한 일을 수행하느니라. 그러나 의를 뿌리는 자에게는 확실한 보상이 있으리라.

18 The wicked worketh a deceitful work: but to him that soweth righteousness shall be a sure reward.

19 의가 생명을 향하는 것같이 악을 추구하는 자도 이처럼 악을 추구하다가 자기 자신의 죽음에 이르느니라.

19 As righteousness tendeth to life: so he that pursueth evil pursueth it to his own death.

20 왜곡된 마음을 지닌 자들은 주께 가증함이라. 그러나 자신들의 길 가운데서 올바른 자들은 그분께 큰 즐거움이라.

20 They that are of a froward heart are abomination to the LORD: but such as are upright in their way are his delight.

21 손에 손을 잡을지라도 사악한 자는 형벌을 면하지 못하리라. 그러나 의로운 자들의 씨는 구출되리라.

21 Though hand join in hand, the wicked shall not be unpunished: but the seed of the righteous shall be delivered.

22 돼지 코에 있는 금 장신구같이 분별이 없는 어여쁜 여자도 그러하니라.

22 As a jewel of gold in a swine's snout, so is a fair woman which is without discretion.

23 의로운 자들의 열망은 선할 뿐이라. 그러나 사악한 자들의 기대는 진노니라.

23 The desire of the righteous is only good: but the expectation of the wicked is wrath.

24 흩어져도 여전히 늘어나는 일이 있느니라. 그리고 과도하게 아끼는데도 오히려 빈궁으로 향하는 일이 있느니라.

24 There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty.

25 관대한 혼은 윤택해지리라. 그런즉 물을 주는 자는 자신도 물을 받으리라.

25 The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.

26 곡식을 움켜쥐는 자는 백성이 그를 저주하리라. 그러나 곡식을 파는 자의 머리 위에는 복이 있으리라.

26 He that withholdeth corn, the people shall curse him: but blessing shall be upon the head of him that selleth it.

27 부지런히 선을 찾는 자는 호의를 얻어 내느니라. 그러나 해로움을 추구하는 자, 그에게는 그것이 임하리라.

27 He that diligently seeketh good procureth favour: but he that seeketh mischief, it shall come unto him.

28 자신의 재물들을 신뢰하는 자는 쓰러지리라. 그러나 의로운 자는 가지같이 번창하리라.

28 He that trusteth in his riches shall fall: but the righteous shall flourish as a branch.

29 자기 자신의 집을 곤경에 빠뜨리는 자는 바람을 상속하리라. 그리고 어리석은 자는 마음이 지혜로운 자의 종이 되리라.

29 He that troubleth his own house shall inherit the wind: and the fool shall be servant to the wise of heart.

30 의로운 자의 열매는 생명나무요, 혼들을 쟁취하는 자는 지혜로우니라.

30 The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.

31 보라, 의로운 자는 땅에서 되갚음을 받을 것이요, 사악한 자와 죄인은 훨씬 더 많이 되갚음을 받으리라.

31 Behold, the righteous shall be recompensed in the earth: much more the wicked and the sinner.
