잠언 28장
1 사악한 자들은 추격하는 사람이 전혀 없을 때도 도망하느니라. 그러나 의로운 자들은 사자같이 담대하니라.
1 The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion.
2 한 지역의 불법으로 인하여 그곳의 통치자들이 많으니라. 그러나 명철과 지식이 있는 한 사람에 의하여 그곳의 상태가 연장되리라.
2 For the transgression of a land many are the princes thereof: but by a man of understanding and knowledge the state thereof shall be prolonged.
3 가난한 사람들을 압제하는 가난한 사람은 양식을 전혀 남기지 않고 휩쓸어 가는 비 같으니라.
3 A poor man that oppresseth the poor is like a sweeping rain which leaveth no food.
4 율법을 저버리는 자들은 사악한 자들을 칭찬하느니라. 그러나 율법을 지키는 자들은 그들과 다투느니라.
4 They that forsake the law praise the wicked: but such as keep the law contend with them.
5 악인들은 공의를 이해하지 않느니라. 그러나 주를 찾는 자들은 모든 것들을 이해하느니라.
5 Evil men understand not judgment: but they that seek the LORD understand all things.
6 부유한 자라 할지라도 자기 길들 가운데서 비뚤어져 있는 자보다는 자신의 올바름 가운데서 살아가는 가난한 자가 더 나으니라.
6 Better is the poor that walketh in his uprightness, than he that is perverse in his ways, though he be rich.
7 율법을 지키는 자는 누구나 지혜로운 아들이라. 그러나 방탕한 사람들의 벗이 되는 자는 자기 아버지를 수치스럽게 하느니라.
7 Whoso keepeth the law is a wise son: but he that is a companion of riotous men shameth his father.
8 고리대금과 부정한 소득으로 자신의 재물을 늘리는 자, 그는 가난한 자들을 동정할 자를 위하여 그것을 모으리라.
8 He that by usury and unjust gain increaseth his substance, he shall gather it for him that will pity the poor.
9 율법을 듣는 데서 자신의 귀를 돌려 버리는 자는 그의 기도마저 가증함이 되리라.
9 He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination.
10 의로운 자들을 악한 길로 이탈하게 하는 자는 누구나 자기 자신의 구렁 속에 스스로 빠지리라. 그러나 올바른 자들은 좋은 것들을 소유하리라.
10 Whoso causeth the righteous to go astray in an evil way, he shall fall himself into his own pit: but the upright shall have good things in possession.
11 부유한 사람은 자기 자신의 망상 속에서 지혜롭게 되느니라. 그러나 명철이 있는 가난한 자는 그를 찾아내느니라.
11 The rich man is wise in his own conceit; but the poor that hath understanding searcheth him out.
12 의로운 사람들이 크게 기뻐할 때 커다란 영광이 있느니라. 그러나 사악한 자들이 일어날 때 사람이 숨겨지느니라.
12 When righteous men do rejoice, there is great glory: but when the wicked rise, a man is hidden.
13 자기 죄들을 감추는 자는 번성하지 못하리라. 그러나 죄들을 자백하고 버리는 자는 누구나 자비를 얻으리라.
13 He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.
14 항상 두려워하는 사람은 행복하니라. 그러나 자기 마음을 완악하게 하는 자는 해로움 속으로 빠지리라.
14 Happy is the man that feareth alway: but he that hardeneth his heart shall fall into mischief.
15 포효하는 사자와 어슬렁거리는 곰같이 가난한 백성을 다스리는 사악한 치리자도 그러하니라.
15 As a roaring lion, and a ranging bear; so is a wicked ruler over the poor people.
16 명철이 부족한 통치자는 또한 엄청난 압제자라. 그러나 탐욕을 증오하는 자는 자신의 날들을 연장하리라.
16 The prince that wanteth understanding is also a great oppressor: but he that hateth covetousness shall prolong his days.
17 어떤 인물의 피라도 노리고 폭력을 행하는 사람은 구렁으로 도망하리니, 아무도 그를 막지 말지어다.
17 A man that doeth violence to the blood of any person shall flee to the pit; let no man stay him.
18 올바르게 살아가는 자는 누구나 구원을 받으리라. 그러나 자기 길들 가운데서 비뚤어져 있는 자는 갑자기 쓰러지리라.
18 Whoso walketh uprightly shall be saved: but he that is perverse in his ways shall fall at once.
19 자기 토지를 경작하는 자는 풍부한 양의 빵을 얻으리라. 그러나 허황된 인물들을 뒤따르는 자는 매우 빈궁하게 되리라.
19 He that tilleth his land shall have plenty of bread: but he that followeth after vain persons shall have poverty enough.
20 신실한 사람은 복들로 넘칠 것이라. 그러나 서둘러 부유하게 되려고 하는 자는 무죄하지 아니하리라.
20 A faithful man shall abound with blessings: but he that maketh haste to be rich shall not be innocent.
21 외모들을 보는 것은 좋지 않으니라. 이는 그 사람이 빵 한 조각을 위해서 불법을 행할 것이기 때문이라.
21 To have respect of persons is not good: for for a piece of bread that man will transgress.
22 서둘러 부유해지려고 하는 자는 악한 눈을 가지고 있어 빈궁이 자기 위에 임할 것을 숙고하지 아니하느니라.
22 He that hasteth to be rich hath an evil eye, and considereth not that poverty shall come upon him.
23 사람을 꾸짖는 자는 혀로 아첨하는 자보다 이후에 더 많은 호의를 발견하리라.
23 He that rebuketh a man afterwards shall find more favour than he that flattereth with the tongue.
24 누구라도 자기 아버지나 자기 어머니를 강탈하고 말하기를, “그것은 불법이 아니니라.” 하는 바로 그자는 멸망시키는 자의 벗이니라.
24 Whoso robbeth his father or his mother, and saith, It is no transgression; the same is the companion of a destroyer.
25 마음이 교만한 자는 분쟁을 일으키느니라. 그러나 자신의 신뢰를 주께 두는 자는 윤택해지리라.
25 He that is of a proud heart stirreth up strife: but he that putteth his trust in the LORD shall be made fat.
26 자기 자신의 마음을 신뢰하는 자는 어리석은 자니라. 그러나 지혜롭게 살아가는 자는 누구나 구출을 받으리라.
26 He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered.
27 가난한 자에게 주는 자는 부족하지 아니하리라. 그러나 자기 두 눈을 가리는 자는 많은 저주를 받으리라.
27 He that giveth unto the poor shall not lack: but he that hideth his eyes shall have many a curse.
28 사악한 자들이 일어날 때 사람들은 자신들을 숨기느니라. 그러나 그들이 망할 때 의로운 자들이 늘어나느니라.
28 When the wicked rise, men hide themselves: but when they perish, the righteous increase.
