잠언 4장

1 너희, 자녀들아, 아버지의 훈계를 듣고 명철을 알기 위해 집중하라.

1 Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding.

2 이는 내가 너희에게 선한 교리를 주기 때문이니, 너희는 나의 법을 저버리지 말라.

2 For I give you good doctrine, forsake ye not my law.

3 이는 내가 나의 아버지의 아들이었으며, 나의 어머니의 목전에 유약하고 유일하게 사랑받는 아들이었기 때문이라.

3 For I was my father's son, tender and only beloved in the sight of my mother.

4 아버지도 나를 가르치며 나에게 이같이 말씀하셨느니라. “너의 마음으로 하여금 나의 말들을 간직하게 하라. 나의 명령들을 지키라. 그리하면 살리라.

4 He taught me also, and said unto me, Let thine heart retain my words: keep my commandments, and live.

5 지혜를 얻고 명철을 얻으라. 그것을 잊지 말고 나의 입의 말들로부터 벗어나지 말라.

5 Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.

6 그녀를 저버리지 말라. 그리하면 그녀가 너를 보존하리라. 그녀를 사랑하라. 그리하면 그녀가 너를 지키리라.

6 Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee.

7 지혜는 제일가는 것이라. 그러므로 지혜를 얻으라. 그리고 네가 얻는 모든 것으로 명철을 얻으라.

7 Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.

8 그녀를 크게 높이라. 그리하면 그녀가 너를 높이리라. 네가 그녀를 포용할 때면 그녀가 너를 존귀로 데려가리라.

8 Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her.

9 그녀가 너의 머리에 은혜의 장식을 달아 주리니, 그녀가 너에게 영광의 왕관을 건네주리라.”

9 She shall give to thine head an ornament of grace: a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee.

10 오, 나의 아들아, 들으라. 그리고 나의 말들을 받아들이라. 그리하면 너의 생명의 연수들이 많아지리라.

10 Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings; and the years of thy life shall be many.

11 내가 지혜의 길 가운데 너를 가르쳤노라. 내가 옳은 행로들 가운데 너를 이끌었노라.

11 I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have led thee in right paths.

12 네가 갈 때면 너의 걸음들이 위축되지 아니하리라. 또한 네가 달릴 때면 너는 걸려 넘어지지 아니하리라.

12 When thou goest, thy steps shall not be straitened; and when thou runnest, thou shalt not stumble.

13 훈계를 굳게 붙들라. 그녀를 놓아주지 말라. 그녀를 지키라. 이는 그녀가 너의 생명이기 때문이라.

13 Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go: keep her; for she is thy life.

14 ¶ 사악한 자들의 행로에 들어서지 말고 악한 사람들의 길로 다니지 말라.

14 ¶ Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men.

15 그 길을 피하라. 그 곁으로 지나가지도 말고 거기서 돌이켜 떠나라.

15 Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away.

16 이는 그들이 위해를 가하지 아니하면, 그들은 잠들지 아니하기 때문이라. 그리고 그들이 누군가를 쓰러뜨리지 않으면 그들의 잠은 달아나느니라.

16 For they sleep not, except they have done mischief; and their sleep is taken away, unless they cause some to fall.

17 이는 그들이 사악함의 빵을 먹고 폭력의 술을 마시기 때문이라.

17 For they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of violence.

18 그러나 의인들의 행로는 빛나는 빛과 같아서 점점 더 빛나 완전한 날에 이르느니라.

18 But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.

19 사악한 자들의 길은 어둠과 같으니라. 그들은 무엇에 걸려 넘어지는지도 모르느니라.

19 The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble.

20 ¶ 나의 아들아, 나의 말들에 집중하라. 나의 말들에 너의 귀를 기울이라.

20 ¶ My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings.

21 그 말들을 너의 두 눈에서 떠나게 하지 말라. 그 말들을 네 마음 한가운데 간직하라.

21 Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.

22 이는 그 말들은 그것들을 발견하는 자들에게 생명이 되고, 그들의 온 육체에 건강이 되기 때문이라.

22 For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.

23 ¶ 열심을 다하여 너의 마음을 지키라. 이는 인생의 문제들이 거기에서 나오기 때문이라.

23 ¶ Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

24 왜곡된 입을 너에게서 치워 버리고 비뚤어진 입술을 너에게서 멀리하라.

24 Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee.

25 너의 두 눈으로 하여금 바르게 보게 하고, 너의 두 눈꺼풀로 하여금 네 앞을 똑바로 보게 하라.

25 Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee.

26 너의 두 발의 행로를 깊이 생각하라. 그런 다음에 너의 모든 길들이 확고히 세워지게 하라.

26 Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established.

27 오른편이나 왼편으로 돌이키지 말라. 너의 발을 악에서 떠나게 하라.

27 Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil.
