신명기 18장

1 레위인들인 제사장들과 레위 지파 모두는 이스라엘과 함께 받는 어떤 지분도, 유산도 없으리라. 그들은 불로써 드려지는 주의 제물들과 그분의 유산을 먹으리라.

1 The priests the Levites, and all the tribe of Levi, shall have no part nor inheritance with Israel: they shall eat the offerings of the LORD made by fire, and his inheritance.

2 그러므로 그들은 자신들의 형제들 가운데서 어떤 유산도 없으리라. 그분께서 그들에게 말씀하신 대로 주께서 그들의 유산이시라.

2 Therefore shall they have no inheritance among their brethren: the LORD is their inheritance, as he hath said unto them.

3 ¶ 그리고 이것은 백성에게서, 곧 소든지 양이든지 희생 제물을 바치는 자들에게서 받을 제사장의 정당한 권리가 되리라. 그런즉 그들은 제사장에게 어깨와 두 볼살들과 위를 줄지니라.

3 ¶ And this shall be the priest's due from the people, from them that offer a sacrifice, whether it be ox or sheep; and they shall give unto the priest the shoulder, and the two cheeks, and the maw.

4 또한 너는 너의 곡식의 첫 열매와 너의 포도즙의 첫 열매와 또 너의 기름의 첫 열매와 또 너의 양 떼에서 처음 깎은 양털 뭉치를 그에게 줄지니라.

4 The firstfruit also of thy corn, of thy wine, and of thine oil, and the first of the fleece of thy sheep, shalt thou give him.

5 이는 주 너의 하나님께서 너의 모든 지파들에서 그를 선택하시어 그와 그의 아들들을 영원토록 주의 이름으로 서서 섬기게 하셨기 때문이라.

5 For the LORD thy God hath chosen him out of all thy tribes, to stand to minister in the name of the LORD, him and his sons for ever.

6 ¶ 그런데 만일 어떤 레위인이 온 이스라엘 가운데 있는 너의 성문들 중에 자신이 체류하던 어느 곳에서 나와서 자기 생각의 온 열망을 가지고 주께서 선택하실 곳으로 오는 경우,

6 ¶ And if a Levite come from any of thy gates out of all Israel, where he sojourned, and come with all the desire of his mind unto the place which the LORD shall choose;

7 그때 그는 주 그의 하나님의 이름으로 섬길지니, 거기 주 앞에 서서 섬기는 그의 모든 형제들인 레위인들이 하듯이 섬길지니라.

7 Then he shall minister in the name of the LORD his God, as all his brethren the Levites do, which stand there before the LORD.

8 그들은 그의 세습 재산을 매매함으로써 생기는 것 이외에도 동일한 몫들로 먹을 것을 가질지니라.

8 They shall have like portions to eat, beside that which cometh of the sale of his patrimony.

9 ¶ 네가 주 너의 하나님께서 너에게 주시는 지역 가운데로 들어갈 때, 너는 그 민족들의 가증함들을 따라하는 것을 배우지 말지니라.

9 ¶ When thou art come into the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations.

10 너희 가운데서 이러한 자들은 어떤 이도 발견되지 않게 할지니, 곧 그의 아들이나 그의 딸을 불에 통과하게 하는 자나 점술을 사용하는 자나 점들을 보는 자나 마력을 쓰는 자나 마녀나

10 There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch,

11 주술사나 부리는 영들에게 자문하는 자나 요술사나 강신술사라.

11 Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer.

12 이는 이런 짓들을 하는 모든 자들이 주께 가증함이기 때문이라. 그런즉 이 가증함들로 인하여 주 너의 하나님께서 그들을 너의 앞에서 내쫓으시는 것이라.

12 For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee.

13 너는 주 너의 하나님과 더불어 완전할지니라.

13 Thou shalt be perfect with the LORD thy God.

14 이는 네가 차지할 이 민족들이 점들을 보는 자들과 점술가들에게 경청하였기 때문이라. 그러나 너로 말하자면, 주 너의 하나님께서는 네가 그렇게 하는 것을 용납하지 아니하셨느니라.

14 For these nations, which thou shalt possess, hearkened unto observers of times, and unto diviners: but as for thee, the LORD thy God hath not suffered thee so to do.

15 ¶ 주 너의 하나님께서는 너의 한가운데서와 너의 형제들 한가운데서 나와 같은 한 예언자를 너에게 일으켜 세우실 것이라. 너희는 그에게 경청할지니라.

15 ¶ The LORD thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken;

16 네가 집회의 날에 호렙에서 주 너의 하나님께 간절히 청한 모든 것에 따라 말하기를, ‘제가 주 나의 하나님의 음성을 다시 듣지 않게 하시고 제가 이 거대한 불을 더 이상 보지 않게 하시어 제가 죽지 않게 하소서.’ 하였도다.

16 According to all that thou desiredst of the LORD thy God in Horeb in the day of the assembly, saying, Let me not hear again the voice of the LORD my God, neither let me see this great fire any more, that I die not.

17 그러자 주께서 나에게 이같이 말씀하셨느니라. ‘그들이 말한 그것을 그들이 잘 말하였도다.

17 And the LORD said unto me, They have well spoken that which they have spoken.

18 내가 그들의 형제들 가운데서 너와 같은 한 예언자를 그들에게 일으켜 세우겠고, 나의 말들을 그의 입안에 두겠노라. 그리하면 내가 그에게 명령할 모든 것을 그가 그들에게 전하리라.

18 I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him.

19 그런즉 이러한 일이 있으리니, 누구든지 그가 내 이름으로 전하는 나의 말들에 경청하지 아니하려는 자는 그에게서 내가 그것을 요구하겠노라.

19 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him.

20 그러나 내가 그에게 전하라고 명령하지 아니한 것을 내 이름으로 한 마디라도 주제넘게 전하거나 다른 신들의 이름으로 전하는 예언자, 바로 그 예언자는 죽어야 하리라.’

20 But the prophet, which shall presume to speak a word in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak in the name of other gods, even that prophet shall die.

21 그리고 만일 네가 너의 마음속으로 말하기를, ‘주께서 이야기하지 아니하신 말씀을 우리가 어떻게 알겠는가?’ 한다면,

21 And if thou say in thine heart, How shall we know the word which the LORD hath not spoken?

22 어떤 예언자가 주의 이름으로 이야기할 때, 만일 그것이 뒤따르지 아니하고 일어나지도 아니한다면, 그것은 주께서 이야기하신 것이 아니니, 다만 그 예언자가 그것을 주제넘게 이야기한 것이라. 너는 그를 무서워하지 말지니라.

22 When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him.
