신명기 9장
1 오, 이스라엘아, 들으라. 너는 이날 요르단을 넘어가리니, 너보다 더 강대하고 막강한 민족들과 하늘까지 위로 방비가 강화된 거대한 도시들을 차지하려고 들어가는 것이요,
1 Hear, O Israel: Thou art to pass over Jordan this day, to go in to possess nations greater and mightier than thyself, cities great and fenced up to heaven,
2 강대하고 키가 큰 백성인 아낙 족속들의 후손들을 차지하려고 들어가는 것이니, 그들은 네가 아는 자들이요, 그들에 관하여 말하기를, ‘누가 아낙의 후손들 앞에 설 수 있으랴!’ 하는 것을 네가 들었느니라.
2 A people great and tall, the children of the Anakims, whom thou knowest, and of whom thou hast heard say, Who can stand before the children of Anak!
3 그러므로 이날 주 너의 하나님께서는 너의 앞에서 건너가시는 분이심을 이해하라. 그분께서는 태워 버리는 불같이 그들을 멸하실 것이요, 그분께서는 너의 얼굴 앞에서 그들을 쓰러뜨리시리라. 이처럼 너는 주께서 너에게 말씀하신 대로 그들을 내쫓고 그들을 속히 멸할지니라.
3 Understand therefore this day, that the LORD thy God is he which goeth over before thee; as a consuming fire he shall destroy them, and he shall bring them down before thy face: so shalt thou drive them out, and destroy them quickly, as the LORD hath said unto thee.
4 주 너의 하나님께서 그들을 네 앞에서 쫓아내신 뒤에 너는 너의 마음속에 말하기를, ‘주께서 나의 의로 인하여 나를 데리고 들어오시어 이 지역을 차지하게 하셨도다.’ 하지 말라. 오직 이 민족들의 사악함 때문에 주께서 그들을 네 앞에서 내쫓으시느니라.
4 Speak not thou in thine heart, after that the LORD thy God hath cast them out from before thee, saying, For my righteousness the LORD hath brought me in to possess this land: but for the wickedness of these nations the LORD doth drive them out from before thee.
5 네가 가서 그들의 지역을 차지하는 것은 너의 의나 너의 마음의 올바름 때문이 아니니라. 오직 이 민족들의 사악함 때문에 주 너의 하나님께서 그들을 너의 앞에서 내쫓으시는 것이니, 주께서 너의 조상들인 아브라함과 이삭과 야곱에게 맹세하신 말씀을 친히 수행하려 하심이라.
5 Not for thy righteousness, or for the uprightness of thine heart, dost thou go to possess their land: but for the wickedness of these nations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee, and that he may perform the word which the LORD sware unto thy fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
6 그러므로 주 너의 하나님께서 너에게 이 좋은 지역을 주시어 그곳을 차지하게 하신 것은 너의 의로 인한 것이 아님을 이해할지니라. 이는 네가 고개가 뻣뻣한 백성이기 때문이라.
6 Understand therefore, that the LORD thy God giveth thee not this good land to possess it for thy righteousness; for thou art a stiffnecked people.
7 ¶ 네가 광야 가운데서 어떻게 주 너의 하나님을 진노하게 하였는지 기억하고 잊지 말라. 네가 이집트 지역에서 떠난 날부터 너희가 이곳에 이를 때까지 너희는 주를 대적하여 반역해 왔느니라.
7 ¶ Remember, and forget not, how thou provokedst the LORD thy God to wrath in the wilderness: from the day that thou didst depart out of the land of Egypt, until ye came unto this place, ye have been rebellious against the LORD.
8 호렙에서도 너희가 주를 진노하게 하였으므로 주께서 너에게 분노하시어 너를 멸하려 하셨느니라.
8 Also in Horeb ye provoked the LORD to wrath, so that the LORD was angry with you to have destroyed you.
9 내가 돌판들, 곧 주께서 너희와 맺으신 언약의 판들을 받으려고 그 산속으로 올라간 그때, 나는 사십 일 낮과 사십 일 밤을 산속에 거하였으며, 나는 빵도 먹지 아니하고 물도 마시지 아니하였느니라.
9 When I was gone up into the mount to receive the tables of stone, even the tables of the covenant which the LORD made with you, then I abode in the mount forty days and forty nights, I neither did eat bread nor drink water:
10 이윽고 주께서 나에게 하나님의 손가락으로 기록된 두 돌판들을 넘겨주셨느니라. 그리고 그것들 위에는 주께서 집회의 날에 산속에 있는 불 한가운데서 너희에게 이야기하신 모든 말씀들대로 기록되었느니라.
10 And the LORD delivered unto me two tables of stone written with the finger of God; and on them was written according to all the words, which the LORD spake with you in the mount out of the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly.
11 그리고 사십 일 낮과 사십 일 밤의 끝에 이러한 일이 있었으니, 주께서 나에게 두 돌판들, 곧 언약의 돌판들을 주셨느니라.
11 And it came to pass at the end of forty days and forty nights, that the LORD gave me the two tables of stone, even the tables of the covenant.
12 그리고 주께서 나에게 말씀하시기를, ‘너는 일어나 여기서 속히 내려가라. 이는 네가 이집트에서 데리고 나온 너의 백성이 스스로 부패하였기 때문이라. 그들은 내가 그들에게 명령한 길에서 속히 벗어났느니라. 그들이 자신들을 위해 주조된 형상을 만들었도다.’ 하셨느니라.
12 And the LORD said unto me, Arise, get thee down quickly from hence; for thy people which thou hast brought forth out of Egypt have corrupted themselves; they are quickly turned aside out of the way which I commanded them; they have made them a molten image.
13 이에 더하여 주께서 나에게 이같이 일러 말씀하셨느니라. ‘내가 이 백성을 보아 왔노라. 그런데 보라, 이 백성은 고개가 뻣뻣한 백성이로다.
13 Furthermore the LORD spake unto me, saying, I have seen this people, and, behold, it is a stiffnecked people:
14 내가 그들을 멸하고 그들의 이름을 하늘 아래에서 지워 없애도록 나를 내버려 두라. 그런즉 내가 너에게서 그들보다 더 막강하고 위대한 민족을 만들겠노라.’
14 Let me alone, that I may destroy them, and blot out their name from under heaven: and I will make of thee a nation mightier and greater than they.
15 그렇게 하여 내가 돌이켜 산에서 내려왔는데 산이 불탔느니라. 그리고 나의 두 손에는 언약의 두 돌판들이 있었느니라.
15 So I turned and came down from the mount, and the mount burned with fire: and the two tables of the covenant were in my two hands.
16 그런즉 내가 바라보았더니, 보라, 너희가 주 너희 하나님을 대적하여 죄를 지었고 주조된 송아지를 너희에게 만들어 두었느니라. 너희가 주께서 너희에게 명령하신 길에서 속히 벗어났도다.
16 And I looked, and, behold, ye had sinned against the LORD your God, and had made you a molten calf: ye had turned aside quickly out of the way which the LORD had commanded you.
17 그리하여 내가 그 두 돌판들을 취하여 나의 두 손에서 그것들을 내던졌으니, 너희의 눈앞에서 그것들을 깨뜨렸느니라.
17 And I took the two tables, and cast them out of my two hands, and brake them before your eyes.
18 그러고 나서 내가 처음과 같이 사십 일 낮과 사십 일 밤을 주 앞에 엎드렸느니라. 나는 너희가 지은 너희의 모든 죄들, 곧 주의 목전에서 사악하게 행함으로써 그분을 분노하게 한 죄들로 인하여 빵도 먹지 아니하고 물도 마시지 아니하였도다.
18 And I fell down before the LORD, as at the first, forty days and forty nights: I did neither eat bread, nor drink water, because of all your sins which ye sinned, in doing wickedly in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger.
19 이는 주께서 너희를 대적하여 진노하사 너희를 멸하려 하신 그 분노와 뜨거운 불쾌하심으로 인하여 내가 무서웠기 때문이라. 그러나 주께서는 그때에도 나에게 경청하셨느니라.
19 For I was afraid of the anger and hot displeasure, wherewith the LORD was wroth against you to destroy you. But the LORD hearkened unto me at that time also.
20 그리고 주께서는 아론에게 매우 분노하시어 그를 멸하려 하셨느니라. 그런데 내가 같은 시간에 아론을 위해서도 기도하였느니라.
20 And the LORD was very angry with Aaron to have destroyed him: and I prayed for Aaron also the same time.
21 그러고 나서 나는 너희의 죄, 곧 너희가 만든 그 송아지를 취하여 그것을 불로 태웠고, 그것을 발로 으깼으며, 그것을 아주 잘게 갈았으니, 심지어 그것이 티끌만큼 작아질 때까지 그리하였느니라. 그러고는 내가 그것의 티끌을 산에서 흘러내려 온 시내 속에다 던졌느니라.
21 And I took your sin, the calf which ye had made, and burnt it with fire, and stamped it, and ground it very small, even until it was as small as dust: and I cast the dust thereof into the brook that descended out of the mount.
22 그런 다음에 너희는 타베라에서, 또 맛사에서, 또 키브롯핫타아와에서 주를 진노하게 하였느니라.
22 And at Taberah, and at Massah, and at Kibrothhattaavah, ye provoked the LORD to wrath.
23 마찬가지로 주께서 카데시바네아에서 너희를 보내시며 말씀하시기를, ‘올라가서 내가 너희에게 준 지역을 차지하라.’ 하신 그때 너희는 주 너희 하나님의 명령을 대적하여 반역하였으니, 너희가 그분을 믿지 아니하였으며 그분의 음성에 경청하지도 아니하였느니라.
23 Likewise when the LORD sent you from Kadeshbarnea, saying, Go up and possess the land which I have given you; then ye rebelled against the commandment of the LORD your God, and ye believed him not, nor hearkened to his voice.
24 너희는 내가 너희를 알았던 그날부터 주를 대적하여 반역해 왔느니라.
24 Ye have been rebellious against the LORD from the day that I knew you.
25 따라서 나는 내가 처음 엎드렸던 것과 같이 사십 일 낮과 사십 일 밤을 주 앞에서 엎드려 있었느니라. 이는 주께서 친히 너희를 멸하리라고 말씀하신 까닭이라.
25 Thus I fell down before the LORD forty days and forty nights, as I fell down at the first; because the LORD had said he would destroy you.
26 그러므로 내가 주께 기도하여 이같이 말씀드렸느니라. ‘오, 주 하나님이여, 당신의 위대하심을 통하여 친히 구속하신 당신의 백성과 당신의 유산을 멸망시키지 마옵소서. 그들은 당신께서 막강한 손으로 이집트에서 데리고 나오신 자들이옵니다.
26 I prayed therefore unto the LORD, and said, O Lord GOD, destroy not thy people and thine inheritance, which thou hast redeemed through thy greatness, which thou hast brought forth out of Egypt with a mighty hand.
27 당신의 종들인 아브라함과 이삭과 야곱을 기억하소서. 이 백성의 완고함을 바라보지 마시옵고, 그들의 사악함과 그들의 죄도 바라보지 마시옵소서.
27 Remember thy servants, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; look not unto the stubbornness of this people, nor to their wickedness, nor to their sin:
28 당신께서 우리를 데리고 나오신 그 지역이 말하기를, ‘주께서 친히 그들에게 약속하신 지역 안으로 그들을 데리고 들어가실 수 없던 까닭에, 또 그분께서 그들을 증오하신 까닭에, 그들을 광야 가운데서 살해하려고 그분께서 그들을 데리고 나오셨도다.’ 하지 않게 하려 함이니이다.
28 Lest the land whence thou broughtest us out say, Because the LORD was not able to bring them into the land which he promised them, and because he hated them, he hath brought them out to slay them in the wilderness.
29 그들은 여전히 당신의 백성이자 당신의 유산이오니, 당신께서 당신의 막강한 권능으로, 당신의 펼쳐진 팔로 데리고 나오신 이들이옵니다.’
29 Yet they are thy people and thine inheritance, which thou broughtest out by thy mighty power and by thy stretched out arm.
