신명기 7장

1 주 너의 하나님께서 네가 그곳을 차지하려고 가는 그 지역 가운데로 너를 데리고 들어가시어 네 앞에서 많은 민족들, 곧 너보다 강대하고 막강한 일곱 민족들인 히타이트족들과 기르가시족들과 아모리족들과 가나안족들과 프리즈족들과 히위족들과 여부스족들을 쫓아내실 때,

1 When the LORD thy God shall bring thee into the land whither thou goest to possess it, and hath cast out many nations before thee, the Hittites, and the Girgashites, and the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, seven nations greater and mightier than thou;

2 그리고 주 너의 하나님께서 그들을 네 앞에 넘겨주실 때, 너는 그들을 치고 그들을 모조리 멸할지니라. 너는 그들과 언약을 맺지 말고, 그들에게 자비도 보이지 말지니라.

2 And when the LORD thy God shall deliver them before thee; thou shalt smite them, and utterly destroy them; thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor shew mercy unto them:

3 또한 너는 그들과 혼인들을 맺지 말지니라. 너는 너의 딸을 그의 아들에게 주지 말며, 너는 그의 딸을 너의 아들에게 얻어 주지도 말지니라.

3 Neither shalt thou make marriages with them; thy daughter thou shalt not give unto his son, nor his daughter shalt thou take unto thy son.

4 이는 그들이 너의 아들로 하여금 나를 따르는 데서 돌아서게 하여 그들이 다른 신들을 섬기게 할 것이기 때문이라. 그렇게 하여 주의 분노가 너를 대적하여 타오를 것이요, 갑작스럽게 너를 멸망시키리라.

4 For they will turn away thy son from following me, that they may serve other gods: so will the anger of the LORD be kindled against you, and destroy thee suddenly.

5 오히려 너희는 그들을 이와 같이 대할지니라. 너희는 그들의 제단들을 파괴하고, 그들의 형상들을 부수어 내며, 그들의 작은 수풀들을 절단하여 쓰러뜨리고, 그들의 새겨진 형상들을 불로 태울지니라.

5 But thus shall ye deal with them; ye shall destroy their altars, and break down their images, and cut down their groves, and burn their graven images with fire.

6 이는 네가 주 너의 하나님께 거룩한 백성이기 때문이라. 주 너의 하나님께서 너를 땅의 표면 위에 있는 모든 백성들 위에 선택하시어 그분 자신께 특별한 백성이 되도록 하셨느니라.

6 For thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God: the LORD thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth.

7 주께서는 너희가 어떤 백성보다도 수가 많아서 너희 위에 그분의 사랑을 두시거나 너희를 선택하신 것이 아니니라. 이는 너희가 모든 백성들 중 가장 적은 수였기 때문이라.

7 The LORD did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because ye were more in number than any people; for ye were the fewest of all people:

8 오히려 주께서 너희를 사랑하신 까닭에, 또 그분께서 너희의 조상들에게 친히 맹세하신 그 맹세를 지키려고 하신 까닭에 주께서는 너희를 막강한 손으로 데리고 나오셨으며, 이집트 파라오왕의 손에서, 곧 노예들의 집에서 너희를 구속하신 것이라.

8 But because the LORD loved you, and because he would keep the oath which he had sworn unto your fathers, hath the LORD brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of bondmen, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.

9 그러므로 주 너의 하나님, 그분께서는 하나님이심을 알라. 그분께서는 자신을 사랑하고 자신의 명령들을 지키는 자들에게 일천 대까지 언약과 자비를 지키시는 신실하신 하나님이라.

9 Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;

10 또 그분을 증오하는 자들에게는 그들의 얼굴에 되갚으시며 그들을 멸하시느니라. 그분께서는 그분을 증오하는 자에게 더디지 아니하시니, 그분께서 그에게는 그의 얼굴에 되갚으시리라.

10 And repayeth them that hate him to their face, to destroy them: he will not be slack to him that hateth him, he will repay him to his face.

11 그러므로 너는 이날 내가 너에게 명령하는 명령들과 규례들과 공의로운 법규들을 지키고 그것들을 실행할지니라.

11 Thou shalt therefore keep the commandments, and the statutes, and the judgments, which I command thee this day, to do them.

12 ¶ 그러니 만일 너희가 이 공의로운 법규들에 경청하고 그것들을 지켜 실행한다면 이러한 일이 있으리니, 주 너의 하나님께서 친히 너의 조상들에게 맹세하신 언약과 자비를 너에게 이행하시리라.

12 ¶ Wherefore it shall come to pass, if ye hearken to these judgments, and keep, and do them, that the LORD thy God shall keep unto thee the covenant and the mercy which he sware unto thy fathers:

13 그리하면 그분께서 너를 사랑하실 것이요, 너에게 복을 주실 것이요, 너를 번성하게 하실 것이라. 그분께서는 또한 친히 너에게 주시기로 너의 조상들에게 맹세하신 그 지역 가운데서 너의 태의 열매와 너의 지역의 열매와 너의 곡식과 너의 포도즙과 너의 기름과 너의 암소들의 소산과 너의 양 떼들에 복을 주실 것이라.

13 And he will love thee, and bless thee, and multiply thee: he will also bless the fruit of thy womb, and the fruit of thy land, thy corn, and thy wine, and thine oil, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep, in the land which he sware unto thy fathers to give thee.

14 네가 모든 백성들보다 더 복을 받으리라. 너희 가운데서 불임인 남녀가 없을 것이요, 또는 너희 가축들 가운데서 불임인 암수가 없으리라.

14 Thou shalt be blessed above all people: there shall not be male or female barren among you, or among your cattle.

15 그리고 주께서는 너에게서 모든 병을 제거하실 것이요, 네가 알고 있는 이집트의 악한 질병들 중 어떤 것도 네 위에 두지 아니하실 것이라. 그러나 너를 증오하는 모든 자들 위에는 그 질병들을 놓아 두실 것이라.

15 And the LORD will take away from thee all sickness, and will put none of the evil diseases of Egypt, which thou knowest, upon thee; but will lay them upon all them that hate thee.

16 그런즉 너는 주 너의 하나님께서 너에게 넘겨주실 모든 백성들을 진멸시킬지니라. 너의 눈은 그들에 대하여 동정을 갖지 말지니라. 또한 너는 그들의 신들을 섬기지도 말지니라. 이는 그것이 너에게 올무가 될 것이기 때문이라.

16 And thou shalt consume all the people which the LORD thy God shall deliver thee; thine eye shall have no pity upon them: neither shalt thou serve their gods; for that will be a snare unto thee.

17 만일 네가 너의 마음속에 말하기를, ‘이 민족들이 나보다 더 많도다. 어떻게 내가 그들을 추방할 수 있을까?’ 하거든

17 If thou shalt say in thine heart, These nations are more than I; how can I dispossess them?

18 너는 그들을 무서워하지 말지니라. 오직 주 너의 하나님께서 파라오에게 행하신 것과 이집트 전역에 행하신 것을 잘 기억할지니,

18 Thou shalt not be afraid of them: but shalt well remember what the LORD thy God did unto Pharaoh, and unto all Egypt;

19 너의 두 눈이 목격한 위대한 시험들과 표적들과 이적들과 막강한 손과 펼쳐진 팔이라. 그것들을 통하여 주 너의 하나님께서 너를 데리고 나오셨느니라. 주 너의 하나님께서 네가 무서워하는 모든 이들에게도 이와 같이 하시리라.

19 The great temptations which thine eyes saw, and the signs, and the wonders, and the mighty hand, and the stretched out arm, whereby the LORD thy God brought thee out: so shall the LORD thy God do unto all the people of whom thou art afraid.

20 이뿐만 아니라 주 너의 하나님께서 그들 사이로 말벌을 보내시리니, 남겨진 채 너로부터 스스로 몸을 숨긴 자들이 멸망당할 때까지라.

20 Moreover the LORD thy God will send the hornet among them, until they that are left, and hide themselves from thee, be destroyed.

21 너는 그들에게 겁먹지 말지니라. 이는 주 너의 하나님, 곧 막강하고 공포스러우신 한 하나님께서 너희 가운데 계시기 때문이라.

21 Thou shalt not be affrighted at them: for the LORD thy God is among you, a mighty God and terrible.

22 그런즉 주 너의 하나님께서 저 민족들을 네 앞에서 조금씩 조금씩 내보내실 것이니, 들짐승들이 너에게 증가하지 않도록 너는 그들을 한 번에 진멸시키지 말라.

22 And the LORD thy God will put out those nations before thee by little and little: thou mayest not consume them at once, lest the beasts of the field increase upon thee.

23 그러나 주 너의 하나님께서 그들이 멸망될 때까지 너에게 그들을 넘겨주시리니, 막강한 멸망으로 그들을 멸하시리라.

23 But the LORD thy God shall deliver them unto thee, and shall destroy them with a mighty destruction, until they be destroyed.

24 그리고 그분께서 그들의 왕들을 너의 손안에 넘겨주시리니, 너는 그들의 이름을 하늘 아래로부터 멸망시킬지니라. 네가 그들을 멸망시킬 때까지 너의 앞에 능히 설 사람이 없으리라.

24 And he shall deliver their kings into thine hand, and thou shalt destroy their name from under heaven: there shall no man be able to stand before thee, until thou have destroyed them.

25 그들의 신들이 새겨진 형상들을 너희는 불로 태울지니라. 너는 그것들 위에 있는 은이나 금을 탐하지 말며, 너에게로 그것을 취하지도 말지니, 네가 그것으로 인하여 올무에 걸리지 않게 하려 함이라. 이는 그것이 주 너의 하나님께 가증함이기 때문이라.

25 The graven images of their gods shall ye burn with fire: thou shalt not desire the silver or gold that is on them, nor take it unto thee, lest thou be snared therein: for it is an abomination to the LORD thy God.

26 또한 너는 너의 집 안으로 가증한 것을 들이지도 말지니, 네가 그것처럼 저주받은 것이 되지 않게 하려 함이라. 오히려 너는 그것을 철저히 가증하게 여길지니, 너는 그것을 철저히 혐오할지니라. 이는 그것이 저주받은 것이기 때문이라.

26 Neither shalt thou bring an abomination into thine house, lest thou be a cursed thing like it: but thou shalt utterly detest it, and thou shalt utterly abhor it; for it is a cursed thing.
