신명기 29장

1 이것들은 주께서 호렙에서 이스라엘 자녀들과 맺으신 언약 이외에 그분께서 모세에게 명령하시어 모압 지역 가운데서 그들과 맺으신 언약의 말씀들이라.

1 These are the words of the covenant, which the LORD commanded Moses to make with the children of Israel in the land of Moab, beside the covenant which he made with them in Horeb.

2 ¶ 그런즉 모세가 온 이스라엘을 불러서 그들에게 이같이 말하였느니라. “주께서 너희의 눈앞에서 이집트 지역 가운데 있는 파라오에게와 그의 모든 종들에게 행하신 것, 곧 그의 온 지역에 행하신 모든 것을 너희가 목격하였나니,

2 ¶ And Moses called unto all Israel, and said unto them, Ye have seen all that the LORD did before your eyes in the land of Egypt unto Pharaoh, and unto all his servants, and unto all his land;

3 곧, 너의 두 눈이 본 위대한 시험들과 표적들과 그 위대한 기적들이라.

3 The great temptations which thine eyes have seen, the signs, and those great miracles:

4 그럼에도 주께서 이날까지 너희에게 깨닫는 마음과 보는 눈과 듣는 귀를 주지 아니하셨도다.

4 Yet the LORD hath not given you an heart to perceive, and eyes to see, and ears to hear, unto this day.

5 그런즉 내가 사십 년 동안 광야 가운데서 너희를 이끌었노라. 너희의 옷이 너희에게서 낡아지지 아니하였고 너희의 신발이 너희 발에서 낡아지지 아니하였도다.

5 And I have led you forty years in the wilderness: your clothes are not waxen old upon you, and thy shoe is not waxen old upon thy foot.

6 너희는 빵을 먹지 아니하였고, 너희가 포도주나 독주도 마시지 아니하였으니, 내가 주 너희 하나님이라는 것을 너희로 하여금 알게 하려 함이라.

6 Ye have not eaten bread, neither have ye drunk wine or strong drink: that ye might know that I am the LORD your God.

7 그리고 너희가 이곳으로 왔을 때 헤슈본 왕 시혼과 바샨 왕 옥이 우리를 대적하여 전투하러 나아왔기에 우리가 그들을 쳤느니라.

7 And when ye came unto this place, Sihon the king of Heshbon, and Og the king of Bashan, came out against us unto battle, and we smote them:

8 그리하여 우리가 그들의 지역을 점령하였고 그곳을 르우벤족들에게와 갓족들에게와 므낫세 반 지파에게 하나의 유산으로 주었느니라.

8 And we took their land, and gave it for an inheritance unto the Reubenites, and to the Gadites, and to the half tribe of Manasseh.

9 그러므로 이 언약의 말씀들을 지키고 그것들을 실행할지니, 너희로 하여금 너희가 행하는 모든 일에서 형통하게 하려 함이라.

9 Keep therefore the words of this covenant, and do them, that ye may prosper in all that ye do.

10 ¶ 이날에 너희, 곧 너희 모두는 주 너희 하나님 앞에 서 있나니, 너희 지파들에 속한 너희의 대장들과, 너희의 장로들과, 너희의 관원들이 이스라엘의 모든 남자들과 함께 서 있으며,

10 ¶ Ye stand this day all of you before the LORD your God; your captains of your tribes, your elders, and your officers, with all the men of Israel,

11 너희의 어린것들과, 너희의 아내들과, 너를 위하여 벌목하는 자로부터 너를 위하여 물 긷는 자까지 네 진영 가운데 있는 네 타국인이 서 있느니라.

11 Your little ones, your wives, and thy stranger that is in thy camp, from the hewer of thy wood unto the drawer of thy water:

12 이는 너로 하여금 주 너의 하나님과 함께 언약 안으로 들어가게 하고, 이날에 주 너의 하나님께서 너와 맺으시는 그분의 맹세 안으로 들어가게 하려 함이요,

12 That thou shouldest enter into covenant with the LORD thy God, and into his oath, which the LORD thy God maketh with thee this day:

13 그분께서 너에게 말씀하신 대로, 또 그분께서 너의 조상들에게, 곧 아브라함에게와 이삭에게와 야곱에게 맹세하신 대로, 오늘 친히 너를 자신에게 백성으로 확고히 세우려 하심이요, 그분께서 너에게 한 하나님이 되려 하심이라.

13 That he may establish thee to day for a people unto himself, and that he may be unto thee a God, as he hath said unto thee, and as he hath sworn unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.

14 또한 내가 이 언약과 이 맹세를 너희와만 맺는 것이 아니니라.

14 Neither with you only do I make this covenant and this oath;

15 오히려 이날 우리와 함께 여기 주 우리 하나님 앞에 서 있는 자와 맺을 뿐 아니라, 이날에 우리와 함께 여기 있지 아니한 자들과도 맺는 것이라.

15 But with him that standeth here with us this day before the LORD our God, and also with him that is not here with us this day:

16 (이는 이집트 지역 가운데서 우리가 어떻게 거하였는지, 또 너희가 지나온 그 민족들을 우리가 어떻게 통과해 왔는지 너희가 알기 때문이라.

16 (For ye know how we have dwelt in the land of Egypt; and how we came through the nations which ye passed by;

17 또 그들 가운데 있던 그들의 가증함들과 그들의 우상들인 나무토막과 돌과 은과 금을 너희가 보았느니라.)

17 And ye have seen their abominations, and their idols, wood and stone, silver and gold, which were among them:)

18 이는 이날에 주 우리 하나님으로부터 자기 마음이 돌아서서 이 민족들의 신들을 섬기려고 가는 남자나 여자나 족속이나 지파가 너희 가운데 없게 하려 함이니, 너희 가운데 지독히 쓴 것과 쑥을 내는 뿌리가 하나도 없게 하려 함이라.

18 Lest there should be among you man, or woman, or family, or tribe, whose heart turneth away this day from the LORD our God, to go and serve the gods of these nations; lest there should be among you a root that beareth gall and wormwood;

19 그런데 그가 이 저주의 말씀들을 들을 때 이러한 일이 있으리니, 그가 자기 마음속으로 스스로를 축복하며 말하기를, ‘내가 내 마음의 상상 가운데 살아가며 갈증에 술취함을 더한다 할지라도 나에게 평안이 있으리라.’ 하리라.

19 And it come to pass, when he heareth the words of this curse, that he bless himself in his heart, saying, I shall have peace, though I walk in the imagination of mine heart, to add drunkenness to thirst:

20 주께서는 그를 봐주지 아니하실 것이요, 오히려 그때 주의 분노와 그분의 질투가 그 사람을 대적하여 피어오를 것이요, 이 책 안에 기록되어 있는 모든 저주들이 그의 위에 놓일 것이요, 주께서 그의 이름을 하늘 아래에서 지워 없애실 것이라.

20 The LORD will not spare him, but then the anger of the LORD and his jealousy shall smoke against that man, and all the curses that are written in this book shall lie upon him, and the LORD shall blot out his name from under heaven.

21 그리고 주께서는 이 율법 책 안에 기록되어 있는 언약의 모든 저주들에 따라 이스라엘의 모든 지파들에서 그를 악으로 구별하시리라.

21 And the LORD shall separate him unto evil out of all the tribes of Israel, according to all the curses of the covenant that are written in this book of the law:

22 그렇기에 너의 뒤를 이어 일어날 너희 자녀들에게서 나올 세대와 먼 지역에서 올 타국인이 그 지역의 재앙들과 주께서 그곳 위에 두신 병들을 볼 때, 그들이 이같이 말하리라.

22 So that the generation to come of your children that shall rise up after you, and the stranger that shall come from a far land, shall say, when they see the plagues of that land, and the sicknesses which the LORD hath laid upon it;

23 ‘그런즉 그곳의 온 지역이 유황과 소금과 타는 것이 되어 씨가 뿌려지지도 않고, 열매를 맺지도 않으며, 그 안에 어떤 풀도 자라지 아니하니, 주께서 그분의 분노 속에서 그리고 그분의 진노 속에서 괴멸시키신 소돔과 고모라와 아드마와 즈보임의 괴멸됨과 같도다.’

23 And that the whole land thereof is brimstone, and salt, and burning, that it is not sown, nor beareth, nor any grass groweth therein, like the overthrow of Sodom, and Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboim, which the LORD overthrew in his anger, and in his wrath:

24 심지어 모든 민족들이 말하기를, ‘주께서 어찌 이 지역에 이와 같이 행하셨는가? 이처럼 커다란 분노의 열기가 무엇을 의미하는가?’ 할 것이라.

24 Even all nations shall say, Wherefore hath the LORD done thus unto this land? what meaneth the heat of this great anger?

25 그때 사람들은 이같이 말하리라. ‘이는 그들이 자기 조상들의 주 하나님의 언약을 저버린 까닭이라. 그 언약은 그분께서 그들을 이집트 지역에서 데리고 나오셨을 때 친히 그들과 맺으신 것이라.

25 Then men shall say, Because they have forsaken the covenant of the LORD God of their fathers, which he made with them when he brought them forth out of the land of Egypt:

26 이는 그들이 가서 다른 신들을 섬기고 그들에게 경배하였기 때문이니, 곧 그들이 몰랐고 그분께서 그들에게 주신 적이 없는 신들이라.

26 For they went and served other gods, and worshipped them, gods whom they knew not, and whom he had not given unto them:

27 그런즉 주의 분노가 이 지역을 대적하여 타올라 이 책 안에 기록되어 있는 모든 저주들을 그곳 위에 가져오셨느니라.

27 And the anger of the LORD was kindled against this land, to bring upon it all the curses that are written in this book:

28 그리하여 주께서는 분노 속에서, 진노 속에서, 크나큰 격분 속에서 그들을 그들의 지역으로부터 뿌리째 뽑으시고 그들을 또 다른 지역으로 던지셨으니, 그것이 오늘날과 같도다.’

28 And the LORD rooted them out of their land in anger, and in wrath, and in great indignation, and cast them into another land, as it is this day.

29 은밀한 것들은 주 우리 하나님께 속하느니라. 그러나 그처럼 계시된 것들은 영원토록 우리에게와 우리 자녀들에게 속하나니, 우리로 하여금 이 율법의 모든 말씀들을 행하게 하려 하심이라.

29 The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.
