에스겔서 31장
1 제십일년 셋째 달, 그달 일 일에 주의 말씀이 나에게 임하였으니, 이같이 말씀하셨느니라.
1 And it came to pass in the eleventh year, in the third month, in the first day of the month, that the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
2 “사람의 아들아, 이집트 왕 파라오와 그의 무리에게 이같이 말하라. 너의 위대함에 있어서 너는 누구와 같으냐?
2 Son of man, speak unto Pharaoh king of Egypt, and to his multitude; Whom art thou like in thy greatness?
3 ¶ 보라, 그 아시리아인은 레바논에 있는 백향목이었으니, 아름다운 가지들이 있고 그림자를 드리우는 나뭇가지 그늘이 있으며 키가 컸도다. 그리고 그의 맨 윗부분은 굵은 원가지들 사이에 있었도다.
3 ¶ Behold, the Assyrian was a cedar in Lebanon with fair branches, and with a shadowing shroud, and of an high stature; and his top was among the thick boughs.
4 물들이 그를 창대하게 하였고 깊음은 그녀의 강들을 그의 초목들 주위로 흘려보내 그를 높이 세웠으며 그녀의 작은 강들을 들의 모든 나무들에게 내보내 주었도다.
4 The waters made him great, the deep set him up on high with her rivers running round about his plants, and sent out her little rivers unto all the trees of the field.
5 그러므로 그의 높이는 들의 모든 나무들 위로 크게 높아졌고 그의 원가지들은 번성하였으며 물들의 허다함으로 인하여 그가 새싹을 틔울 때 그의 가지들이 길어졌더라.
5 Therefore his height was exalted above all the trees of the field, and his boughs were multiplied, and his branches became long because of the multitude of waters, when he shot forth.
6 하늘의 모든 날짐승들이 그의 원가지들에 자신들의 둥지들을 지었고, 모든 들짐승들이 그의 가지들 아래에서 그들의 어린 짐승들을 낳았으니 크나큰 민족들이 모두 그의 그림자 아래에 거하였도다.
6 All the fowls of heaven made their nests in his boughs, and under his branches did all the beasts of the field bring forth their young, and under his shadow dwelt all great nations.
7 이와 같이 그가 그의 위대함에 있어서, 그의 가지들의 길이에 있어서 수려하였도다. 이는 그의 뿌리가 거대한 물들 곁에 있었기 때문이라.
7 Thus was he fair in his greatness, in the length of his branches: for his root was by great waters.
8 하나님의 동산에 있는 백향목들은 그를 숨길 수 없었도다. 전나무들은 그의 원가지들만 못하였고, 밤나무들은 그의 작은 가지들만도 못하였도다. 하나님의 동산 안에 있는 어떤 나무도 그의 아름다움에 있어서 그에게 비견되지 못하였도다.
8 The cedars in the garden of God could not hide him: the fir trees were not like his boughs, and the chesnut trees were not like his branches; nor any tree in the garden of God was like unto him in his beauty.
9 내가 그의 가지들의 허다함으로 그를 수려하게 하였도다. 그렇기에 하나님의 동산 안에 있었던, 에덴의 모든 나무들이 그를 시기하였도다.
9 I have made him fair by the multitude of his branches: so that all the trees of Eden, that were in the garden of God, envied him.
10 ¶ 그러므로 주 하나님이 이같이 말하노라. 이는 네가 높이에 있어 네 자신을 치켜세웠고, 그가 자신의 맨 윗부분을 두꺼운 원가지들 사이로 내밀어 그의 마음이 그의 높이로 인하여 치켜세워졌기 때문이라.
10 ¶ Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thou hast lifted up thyself in height, and he hath shot up his top among the thick boughs, and his heart is lifted up in his height;
11 그러므로 내가 이교도들 중 막강한 이의 손안에 그를 넘겼도다. 그가 반드시 그를 상대하리라. 내가 그의 사악함으로 인하여 그를 내쫓았도다.
11 I have therefore delivered him into the hand of the mighty one of the heathen; he shall surely deal with him: I have driven him out for his wickedness.
12 그리고 타국인들, 곧 민족들 중 공포스러운 자들이 그를 베어 버린 뒤에, 그를 버려두었도다. 그의 가지들이 산들 위와 모든 골짜기들 안에 떨어져 있고 그의 원가지들이 그 지역의 모든 강들 옆에 꺾여 있도다. 그리고 땅의 모든 백성들은 그의 그림자에서 떠나 내려가고 그를 버려두었도다.
12 And strangers, the terrible of the nations, have cut him off, and have left him: upon the mountains and in all the valleys his branches are fallen, and his boughs are broken by all the rivers of the land; and all the people of the earth are gone down from his shadow, and have left him.
13 하늘의 모든 날짐승들이 그의 폐허 위에 머물 것이요, 모든 들짐승들이 그의 가지들 위에 있으리라.
13 Upon his ruin shall all the fowls of the heaven remain, and all the beasts of the field shall be upon his branches:
14 이는 그 물가들에 있는 모든 나무들 중 무엇도 자신들의 높이로 인하여 스스로를 크게 높이지 못하게 하고, 또 두꺼운 원가지들 사이에서 자신들의 맨 윗부분을 내밀지 못하게 하며, 또 그들의 나무들, 곧 물을 마시는 모든 것들이 자신들의 높이로 우뚝 서지 못하게 하려는 취지니라. 이는 그들이 모두 죽음에 넘겨져서, 사람들의 자녀들의 한가운데서 구렁으로 내려가는 자들과 함께 땅의 아랫부분들로 향하기 때문이라.
14 To the end that none of all the trees by the waters exalt themselves for their height, neither shoot up their top among the thick boughs, neither their trees stand up in their height, all that drink water: for they are all delivered unto death, to the nether parts of the earth, in the midst of the children of men, with them that go down to the pit.
15 주 하나님이 이같이 말하노라. 그가 음부로 내려간 날에 내가 애곡이 있게 하였도다. 내가 그에게 깊음을 덮어 주었고 내가 그곳의 홍수들을 삼갔으니, 거대한 물들이 보류되었도다. 그리고 내가 레바논으로 하여금 그를 위하여 애곡하게 하였더니, 들의 모든 나무들이 그로 인하여 기진하였도다.
15 Thus saith the Lord GOD; In the day when he went down to the grave I caused a mourning: I covered the deep for him, and I restrained the floods thereof, and the great waters were stayed: and I caused Lebanon to mourn for him, and all the trees of the field fainted for him.
16 내가 그를 구렁 안으로 내려가는 자들과 함께 지옥으로 던져 버릴 때, 나는 민족들로 하여금 그의 떨어지는 소리에 요동치게 만들었도다. 그런즉 에덴의 모든 나무들, 곧 레바논의 선별된 최고의 나무들이자 물을 마시는 모든 것들은 땅의 아랫부분들 안에서 위로를 받으리라.
16 I made the nations to shake at the sound of his fall, when I cast him down to hell with them that descend into the pit: and all the trees of Eden, the choice and best of Lebanon, all that drink water, shall be comforted in the nether parts of the earth.
17 그들도 그와 함께 지옥으로 내려가 칼로 살해당한 자들에게 이르렀도다. 그리하여 그들은 그들의 팔이었던 자들이요, 이교도들의 한복판에서 그의 그림자 아래 거하던 자들이라.
17 They also went down into hell with him unto them that be slain with the sword; and they that were his arm, that dwelt under his shadow in the midst of the heathen.
18 ¶ 이와 같이 영광과 위대함에 있어서 너는 에덴의 나무들 사이에서 누구와 비견되겠느냐? 그럼에도 너는 에덴의 나무들과 함께 땅의 아랫부분들로 끌어내려지리라. 너는 칼에 의하여 살해당한 자들과 함께 할례받지 아니한 자들의 한가운데 누우리라. 파라오와 그의 모든 무리가 이러하니라. 주 하나님이 말하노라.”
18 ¶ To whom art thou thus like in glory and in greatness among the trees of Eden? yet shalt thou be brought down with the trees of Eden unto the nether parts of the earth: thou shalt lie in the midst of the uncircumcised with them that be slain by the sword. This is Pharaoh and all his multitude, saith the Lord GOD.
