창세기 21장

1 이후에 주께서 말씀하셨던 대로 그분께서 사라를 찾아오셨으며, 주께서 이르신 대로 그분께서 사라에게 행하셨더라.

1 And the LORD visited Sarah as he had said, and the LORD did unto Sarah as he had spoken.

2 이는 사라가 임신하여 아브라함의 노년에 그에게 한 아들을 낳아 주었기 때문이니, 하나님께서 그에게 말씀하셨던 그 정해진 시기에 그리되었더라.

2 For Sarah conceived, and bare Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him.

3 그러자 아브라함이 자신에게 태어난, 곧 사라가 자신에게 낳아 준 자기 아들의 이름을 이삭이라 불렀더라.

3 And Abraham called the name of his son that was born unto him, whom Sarah bare to him, Isaac.

4 그리고 아브라함은 자기 아들 이삭이 태어난 지 팔 일째에 할례를 행하였으니, 하나님께서 그에게 명령하신 대로였더라.

4 And Abraham circumcised his son Isaac being eight days old, as God had commanded him.

5 그리고 아브라함의 아들 이삭이 그에게 태어났을 때 그는 일백 세였더라.

5 And Abraham was an hundred years old, when his son Isaac was born unto him.

6 ¶ 그러자 사라가 말하기를, “하나님께서 나를 웃게 하셨도다. 그렇기에 듣는 모든 자들이 나와 함께 웃으리로다.” 하였더라.

6 ¶ And Sarah said, God hath made me to laugh, so that all that hear will laugh with me.

7 이어서 그녀가 말하기를, “누가 아브라함에게 ‘사라가 자식들에게 젖을 물릴 것이라.’하고 말하였겠는가? 이는 내가 그의 노년에 그에게 한 아들을 낳아 주었기 때문이라.” 하였더라.

7 And she said, Who would have said unto Abraham, that Sarah should have given children suck? for I have born him a son in his old age.

8 그리고 그 아이가 자라서 젖을 떼게 되었더라. 그리하여 이삭이 젖을 떼게 된 바로 그날에 아브라함이 성대한 잔치를 베풀었더라.

8 And the child grew, and was weaned: and Abraham made a great feast the same day that Isaac was weaned.

9 ¶ 그런데 이집트인 하갈이 아브라함에게 낳아 준 그녀의 아들이 이삭을 조롱하고 있는 것을 사라가 보았더라.

9 ¶ And Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, which she had born unto Abraham, mocking.

10 이러한 이유로 그녀가 아브라함에게 말하기를, “이 여자 노예와 그녀의 아들을 쫓아내소서. 이는 이 여자 노예의 아들이 내 아들, 곧 이삭과 함께 상속자가 되지 못할 것이기 때문이니이다.” 하였더라.

10 Wherefore she said unto Abraham, Cast out this bondwoman and her son: for the son of this bondwoman shall not be heir with my son, even with Isaac.

11 그러자 그의 아들로 인하여 아브라함의 목전에서 그 일이 매우 통탄스러웠더라.

11 And the thing was very grievous in Abraham's sight because of his son.

12 ¶ 그리고 하나님께서 아브라함에게 이같이 말씀하셨느니라. “그 소년과 너의 여자 노예로 인하여 너의 목전에서 그 일이 통탄스럽게 되지 않게 하라. 사라가 너에게 말한 모든 것에 있어서 그녀의 음성에 경청하라. 이는 이삭 안에서 너의 씨가 부름을 받을 것이기 때문이라.

12 ¶ And God said unto Abraham, Let it not be grievous in thy sight because of the lad, and because of thy bondwoman; in all that Sarah hath said unto thee, hearken unto her voice; for in Isaac shall thy seed be called.

13 그리고 그 여자 노예의 아들에게서도 내가 한 민족을 만들겠노라. 이는 그가 너의 씨인 까닭이라.”

13 And also of the son of the bondwoman will I make a nation, because he is thy seed.

14 그리하여 아브라함이 아침에 일찍 일어나서 빵과 물병을 취하여 그것을 하갈에게 주었으니, 그것을 그녀의 어깨 위에 그리고 그 아이에게 올려 주고 그녀를 멀리 보냈더라. 그러자 그녀가 떠나 베르셰바의 광야 가운데서 배회하였더라.

14 And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and took bread, and a bottle of water, and gave it unto Hagar, putting it on her shoulder, and the child, and sent her away: and she departed, and wandered in the wilderness of Beersheba.

15 그러다가 그 병 안에 있는 물이 다 떨어졌으니, 그녀가 그 아이를 관목들 중 하나 아래에 두었더라.

15 And the water was spent in the bottle, and she cast the child under one of the shrubs.

16 그리고 그녀가 가서 화살 사정거리만큼 충분히 멀리 떨어진 곳에서 그의 맞은편에 앉았더라. 이는 그녀가 말하기를, “나로 하여금 그 아이의 죽음을 보지 않게 하소서.” 하였기 때문이라. 그런즉 그녀가 그의 맞은편에 앉아서 그녀의 목소리를 높여 울었더라.

16 And she went, and sat her down over against him a good way off, as it were a bowshot: for she said, Let me not see the death of the child. And she sat over against him, and lift up her voice, and wept.

17 그러자 하나님께서 그 소년의 음성을 들으셨더라. 그리고 하나님의 천사가 하늘로부터 하갈을 불러 그녀에게 이같이 말하였더라. “하갈아, 무엇이 너를 고통스럽게 하느냐? 두려워하지 말라. 이는 하나님께서 그 소년이 있는 곳에서 그의 음성에 경청하셨기 때문이라.

17 And God heard the voice of the lad; and the angel of God called to Hagar out of heaven, and said unto her, What aileth thee, Hagar? fear not; for God hath heard the voice of the lad where he is.

18 일어나서 그 소년을 일으켜 세우고 너의 손으로 그를 붙들라. 이는 내가 그를 크나큰 민족으로 만들 것이기 때문이라.”

18 Arise, lift up the lad, and hold him in thine hand; for I will make him a great nation.

19 그러고는 하나님께서 그녀의 두 눈을 여셨으니, 그녀가 물이 있는 우물을 보았더라. 이에 그녀가 가서 물로 그 병을 채워 그 소년에게 마시도록 주었더라.

19 And God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water; and she went, and filled the bottle with water, and gave the lad drink.

20 그리하여 하나님께서 그 소년과 함께하셨으니, 그가 자라서 광야 가운데 거하며 활 쏘는 자가 되었더라.

20 And God was with the lad; and he grew, and dwelt in the wilderness, and became an archer.

21 그리고 그가 파란 광야 가운데 거하였으며 그의 어머니가 이집트 지역에서 그에게 한 아내를 얻어 주었더라.

21 And he dwelt in the wilderness of Paran: and his mother took him a wife out of the land of Egypt.

22 ¶ 그러고 나서 그때에 이러한 일이 있었으니, 아비멜렉과 그의 군대의 총대장 피콜이 아브라함에게 이같이 일러 말하였더라. “하나님께서 네가 행하는 모든 것에 있어서 너와 함께하시는도다.

22 ¶ And it came to pass at that time, that Abimelech and Phichol the chief captain of his host spake unto Abraham, saying, God is with thee in all that thou doest:

23 그러므로 이제 너는 나에게나 내 아들에게나 내 아들의 아들에게 거짓되이 대하지 않겠다고 여기에서 하나님을 두고 나에게 맹세하라. 오직 내가 너에게 베푼 친절에 따라 너도 나와 네가 체류한 그 지역에 그렇게 행할지니라.”

23 Now therefore swear unto me here by God that thou wilt not deal falsely with me, nor with my son, nor with my son's son: but according to the kindness that I have done unto thee, thou shalt do unto me, and to the land wherein thou hast sojourned.

24 그러자 아브라함이 말하기를, “내가 맹세하겠노라.” 하였더라.

24 And Abraham said, I will swear.

25 그러고 나서 아브라함은 물이 있는 우물로 인하여 아비멜렉을 책망하였으니, 그것은 아비멜렉의 종들이 폭력으로 갈취하여 간 것이었더라.

25 And Abraham reproved Abimelech because of a well of water, which Abimelech's servants had violently taken away.

26 이에 아비멜렉이 말하기를, “누가 이 일을 행하였는지 내가 몰랐도다. 너도 나에게 그것을 알려주지 아니하였으니, 내가 그것을 듣지 못하다가 오늘에야 들었도다.” 하였더라.

26 And Abimelech said, I wot not who hath done this thing: neither didst thou tell me, neither yet heard I of it, but to day.

27 그러자 아브라함이 양들과 소들을 가져와서 그것들을 아비멜렉에게 주었고, 그들 양자 간에 언약을 맺었더라.

27 And Abraham took sheep and oxen, and gave them unto Abimelech; and both of them made a covenant.

28 그리고 아브라함이 양 떼에서 일곱 마리의 어린 암양들을 따로 떼어 놓았더라.

28 And Abraham set seven ewe lambs of the flock by themselves.

29 이에 아비멜렉이 아브라함에게 말하기를, “네가 그것들끼리 따로 떼어 놓은 이 일곱 마리의 어린 암양들은 무엇을 의미하느냐?” 하였더라.

29 And Abimelech said unto Abraham, What mean these seven ewe lambs which thou hast set by themselves?

30 그러자 아브라함이 말하기를, “이는 그것들이 나에게 내가 이 우물을 팠다는 증거가 되도록 네가 일곱 마리의 어린 암양들을 나의 손에서 취할 것이기 때문이라.” 하였더라.

30 And he said, For these seven ewe lambs shalt thou take of my hand, that they may be a witness unto me, that I have digged this well.

31 이러한 이유로 그가 그 곳을 베르셰바라고 불렀으니, 거기서 그들이 그들 양자 간에 맹세하였기 때문이라.

31 Wherefore he called that place Beersheba; because there they sware both of them.

32 이와 같이 그들이 베르셰바에서 언약을 맺었더라. 그다음에 아비멜렉과 그의 군대의 총대장 피콜이 일어났으며, 그들이 필리스티아인들의 지역으로 되돌아갔더라.

32 Thus they made a covenant at Beersheba: then Abimelech rose up, and Phichol the chief captain of his host, and they returned into the land of the Philistines.

33 ¶ 이후에 아브라함이 베르셰바에 작은 수풀을 심었고 영원하신 하나님, 곧 주의 이름을 거기에서 불렀더라.

33 ¶ And Abraham planted a grove in Beersheba, and called there on the name of the LORD, the everlasting God.

34 그러고 나서 아브라함이 필리스티아인들의 지역 가운데서 많은 날들을 체류하였더라.

34 And Abraham sojourned in the Philistines' land many days.
