이사야서 41장

1 오, 섬들아, 내 앞에서 잠잠하라. 그리고 백성들로 하여금 자신들의 힘을 새로이 하게 하라. 그들로 하여금 가까이 오게 한 후에 그들이 이야기하게 하라. 우리가 함께 심판으로 가까이 나아가자.

1 Keep silence before me, O islands; and let the people renew their strength: let them come near; then let them speak: let us come near together to judgment.

2 동방에서 의로운 사람을 일으키고, 그를 자신의 발 앞으로 불러내며, 그의 앞에 민족들을 주고, 그로 하여금 왕들을 다스리게 한 이가 누구냐? 그분께서 그들을 그의 칼에 티끌같이, 그의 활에 날리는 그루터기같이 주셨도다.

2 Who raised up the righteous man from the east, called him to his foot, gave the nations before him, and made him rule over kings? he gave them as the dust to his sword, and as driven stubble to his bow.

3 그가 그들을 추격하였으니, 심지어 그가 자기 발로 가 본 적이 없는 길을 따라 무사히 지나갔도다.

3 He pursued them, and passed safely; even by the way that he had not gone with his feet.

4 누가 시작부터 그 세대들을 불러 그 일을 이루고 수행하였느냐? 나 주는 처음과 동시에 마지막이라. 나는 그니라.

4 Who hath wrought and done it, calling the generations from the beginning? I the LORD, the first, and with the last; I am he.

5 섬들이 그것을 보고 두려워하였도다. 땅 끝들이 무서워하며 접근하여 왔느니라.

5 The isles saw it, and feared; the ends of the earth were afraid, drew near, and came.

6 그들 모두가 저마다 자기 이웃을 도왔고, 모두가 저마다 자기 형제에게 말하기를, “훌륭한 용기를 내라.” 하였도다.

6 They helped every one his neighbour; and every one said to his brother, Be of good courage.

7 그렇게 하여 목수는 금 세공사를 격려하였고, 망치로 다듬는 자는 모루를 친 자를 격려하며 “땜질을 위한 준비가 되었다.” 말하였노라. 그런 다음에 그가 못들로 그것을 고정하여 그것이 움직이지 않게 하였도다.

7 So the carpenter encouraged the goldsmith, and he that smootheth with the hammer him that smote the anvil, saying, It is ready for the sodering: and he fastened it with nails, that it should not be moved.

8 그러나 이스라엘아, 너는 나의 종이요, 내가 선택한 야곱이요, 나의 친구 아브라함의 씨로다.

8 But thou, Israel, art my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham my friend.

9 내가 너를 땅 끝들에서 데려왔고 그곳의 우두머리인 남자들로부터 너를 불러내어 너에게 말하기를, “너는 나의 종이라. 내가 너를 선택하였으니, 너를 내치지 아니하리라.” 하였도다.

9 Thou whom I have taken from the ends of the earth, and called thee from the chief men thereof, and said unto thee, Thou art my servant; I have chosen thee, and not cast thee away.

10 ¶ 너는 두려워하지 말라. 이는 내가 너와 함께하기 때문이라. 낙담하지 말라. 이는 내가 너의 하나님이기 때문이라. 내가 너를 강하게 하겠노라. 진정 내가 너를 돕겠노라. 진정 내가 나의 의의 오른손으로 너를 드높이겠노라.

10 ¶ Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

11 보라, 너를 대적하여 노한 모든 자들이 부끄러워하고 당황하리라. 그들은 아무것도 아닌 것같이 되리라. 또 너와 분쟁하는 자들은 망하리라.

11 Behold, all they that were incensed against thee shall be ashamed and confounded: they shall be as nothing; and they that strive with thee shall perish.

12 너는 그들을 찾을 것이나 그들을 발견하지는 못하리니, 그들은 바로 너와 다투었던 자들이로다. 너를 대적하여 전쟁하는 자들은 아무것도 아닌 것같이 되고, 무가치한 것같이 되리라.

12 Thou shalt seek them, and shalt not find them, even them that contended with thee: they that war against thee shall be as nothing, and as a thing of nought.

13 이는 나, 주 너의 하나님이 너의 오른손을 잡으며 너에게 말하기를, “두려워하지 말라. 내가 너를 돕겠노라.” 할 것이기 때문이라.

13 For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.

14 너, 벌레 야곱아, 너희, 이스라엘 사람들아, 두려워하지 말라. 내가 너를 돕겠노라. 너의 구속주요, 이스라엘의 거룩한 이인 주가 말하노라.

14 Fear not, thou worm Jacob, and ye men of Israel; I will help thee, saith the LORD, and thy redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.

15 보라, 내가 너를 톱니들이 달린 날카로운 새 타작 기구로 만들겠노라. 너는 산들을 타작하고 그것들을 잘게 쳐부술 것이요, 언덕들을 쭉정이같이 만들리라.

15 Behold, I will make thee a new sharp threshing instrument having teeth: thou shalt thresh the mountains, and beat them small, and shalt make the hills as chaff.

16 너는 그것들을 까부르리니 바람이 그것들을 날려 버릴 것이요, 회오리바람이 그것들을 흩으리라. 그리고 너는 주를 크게 기뻐할 것이요, 이스라엘의 거룩한 이를 자랑하리라.

16 Thou shalt fan them, and the wind shall carry them away, and the whirlwind shall scatter them: and thou shalt rejoice in the LORD, and shalt glory in the Holy One of Israel.

17 가난하고 빈곤한 자들이 물을 구하나 아무것도 없고, 그들의 혀가 목말라 쇠할 때, 나, 주가 그들에게 경청할 것이요, 나, 이스라엘의 하나님이 그들을 저버리지 아니하겠노라.

17 When the poor and needy seek water, and there is none, and their tongue faileth for thirst, I the LORD will hear them, I the God of Israel will not forsake them.

18 내가 높은 곳들에서 강들을, 골짜기들 한가운데서 원천들을 열어 주겠노라. 내가 광야를 물웅덩이로 만들고, 메마른 지역을 물이 솟는 샘들로 만들겠노라.

18 I will open rivers in high places, and fountains in the midst of the valleys: I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water.

19 내가 광야 가운데 백향목과 싯타나무와 도금양나무와 기름나무를 심겠노라. 내가 사막 가운데 전나무와 소나무와 회양나무를 함께 두겠노라.

19 I will plant in the wilderness the cedar, the shittah tree, and the myrtle, and the oil tree; I will set in the desert the fir tree, and the pine, and the box tree together:

20 이는 주의 손이 이것을 행하고 이스라엘의 거룩한 이가 그것을 창조한 것을 그들이 보고 알고 숙고하여 다함께 이해할 수 있게 하려 함이라.

20 That they may see, and know, and consider, and understand together, that the hand of the LORD hath done this, and the Holy One of Israel hath created it.

21 주가 말하노라. 너희의 주장을 제기하라. 너희의 강력한 근거들을 내놓으라. 야곱의 왕이 말하노라.

21 Produce your cause, saith the LORD; bring forth your strong reasons, saith the King of Jacob.

22 그들로 하여금 그것들을 내놓고 어떤 일이 벌어질지를 우리에게 보이게 하라. 그들로 하여금 이전 일들과 그것들이 어떻게 될 지를 보이게 하여 우리가 그것들을 숙고하고 그것들의 나중 결말을 알 수 있게 하라. 또는 미래에 일어날 일들을 우리에게 선언하게 하라.

22 Let them bring them forth, and shew us what shall happen: let them shew the former things, what they be, that we may consider them, and know the latter end of them; or declare us things for to come.

23 너희가 신들이라는 것을 우리가 알 수 있도록 장차 다가오는 것들을 보이라. 진정 우리가 어찌할 바를 몰라하며 그것을 함께 보도록 선을 행하거나 악을 행하여 보라.

23 Shew the things that are to come hereafter, that we may know that ye are gods: yea, do good, or do evil, that we may be dismayed, and behold it together.

24 보라, 너희는 아무것도 아니요, 너희가 하는 일은 헛것에 속하는도다. 너희를 선택하는 자는 가증함이라.

24 Behold, ye are of nothing, and your work of nought: an abomination is he that chooseth you.

25 내가 북쪽으로부터 한 사람을 일으켰나니, 그가 오리라. 해가 떠오르는 데부터 그가 나의 이름을 부르리라. 그리하여 그가 교니 반죽 위로 오듯이 통치자들 위로 오리니, 마치 토기장이가 진흙을 발로 짓이기는 것과 같으리라.

25 I have raised up one from the north, and he shall come: from the rising of the sun shall he call upon my name: and he shall come upon princes as upon morter, and as the potter treadeth clay.

26 누가 시작부터 선언하여 우리로 하여금 알 수 있게 하였느냐? 또 누가 예전부터 선언하여 우리로 하여금 말하기를, “그분께서는 의로우시도다.” 하게 하였느냐? 진정 제시하는 자가 없으니, 진정 선언하는 자도 없으며, 진정 너희 말들을 듣는 자도 없도다.

26 Who hath declared from the beginning, that we may know? and beforetime, that we may say, He is righteous? yea, there is none that sheweth, yea, there is none that declareth, yea, there is none that heareth your words.

27 처음인 이가 시온에게 말하기를, “보라, 그들을 보라.” 하리라. 그런즉 내가 좋은 소식들을 가져오는 이를 예루살렘에 주겠노라.

27 The first shall say to Zion, Behold, behold them: and I will give to Jerusalem one that bringeth good tidings.

28 이는 내가 보았으나 한 사람도 없었으니, 곧 내가 그들에게 물을 때 한 마디라도 대답할 수 있는 조언자가 그들 가운데 한 명도 없었기 때문이라.

28 For I beheld, and there was no man; even among them, and there was no counsellor, that, when I asked of them, could answer a word.

29 보라, 그들은 전부 헛된 것이요, 그들의 일들은 아무것도 아니라. 그들의 주조된 형상들은 바람이자 혼란이라.

29 Behold, they are all vanity; their works are nothing: their molten images are wind and confusion.
