이사야서 42장

1 내가 드높이는 나의 종을 보라. 나의 택함받은 자니, 나의 혼이 그 안에서 크게 즐거워하는도다. 내가 나의 영을 그의 위에 두었노라. 그가 이방인들에게 공의를 가져오리라.

1 Behold my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect, in whom my soul delighteth; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles.

2 그는 외치지 아니할 것이며, 목소리를 높이지도, 그의 음성을 거리에서 들리게 하지도 아니하리라.

2 He shall not cry, nor lift up, nor cause his voice to be heard in the street.

3 그는 상한 갈대 하나도 꺾지 아니할 것이요, 그는 연기 나는 심지를 끄지 아니하리라. 그는 공의를 진리로 가져오리라.

3 A bruised reed shall he not break, and the smoking flax shall he not quench: he shall bring forth judgment unto truth.

4 그는 자신이 땅에 공의를 세우기까지 단념하거나 낙심하지 아니하리라. 또 섬들이 그의 율법을 기다리리라.

4 He shall not fail nor be discouraged, till he have set judgment in the earth: and the isles shall wait for his law.

5 ¶ 하늘들을 창조하여 그것들을 활짝 펼친 이요, 땅과 그것에서 나오는 것을 깔아 놓은 이요, 땅 위에 있는 백성들에게 호흡을, 그 안에서 살아가는 자들에게 영을 주는 이인 하나님, 곧 주가 이같이 말하노라.

5 ¶ Thus saith God the LORD, he that created the heavens, and stretched them out; he that spread forth the earth, and that which cometh out of it; he that giveth breath unto the people upon it, and spirit to them that walk therein:

6 나, 주가 너를 의로 불렀으니, 너의 손을 잡아 줄 것이요, 너를 지키고 백성의 언약으로, 이방인들의 빛으로 너를 주겠노라.

6 I the LORD have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles;

7 이는 눈먼 자들의 눈을 뜨게 하려 함이요, 갇힌 자들을 감옥에서 꺼내고, 어둠 가운데 앉아 있는 자들을 감옥에서 꺼내려 함이라.

7 To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house.

8 나는 주로다. 그것이 나의 이름이라. 그런즉 나는 나의 영광을 다른 자에게 주지 아니하겠으며, 나의 찬송도 조각된 형상들에게 주지 아니하겠노라.

8 I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.

9 보라, 이전 것들은 이루어졌으니, 나는 새로운 것들을 선언하노라. 나는 그것들이 발생하기도 전에 너희에게 그것들에 관하여 알리노라.

9 Behold, the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare: before they spring forth I tell you of them.

10 바다로 내려가는 너희들과 그 안에 있는 모든 것들아, 섬들과 그곳의 거주자들아, 주께 새 노래를 부르고, 땅 끝에서부터 그의 찬송을 노래하라.

10 Sing unto the LORD a new song, and his praise from the end of the earth, ye that go down to the sea, and all that is therein; the isles, and the inhabitants thereof.

11 광야와 그곳의 도시들과, 케달이 거주하는 촌락들은 자신들의 목소리를 높일지어다. 바위의 거주자들은 노래할지어다. 그들은 산들의 꼭대기에서 함성을 지를지어다.

11 Let the wilderness and the cities thereof lift up their voice, the villages that Kedar doth inhabit: let the inhabitants of the rock sing, let them shout from the top of the mountains.

12 그들은 주께 영광을 돌릴지어다. 또 섬들 가운데서 그의 찬송을 밝히 알릴지어다.

12 Let them give glory unto the LORD, and declare his praise in the islands.

13 주가 막강한 남자같이 나아갈 것이요, 그가 전사같이 질투를 일깨우리라. 그가 부르짖으리니, 진정 포효할 것이요, 그가 자신의 원수들을 대적하여 승리하리라.

13 The LORD shall go forth as a mighty man, he shall stir up jealousy like a man of war: he shall cry, yea, roar; he shall prevail against his enemies.

14 내가 오랜 시간 동안 나의 침묵을 지켰노라. 내가 가만히 있으면서 스스로 자제하였도다. 이제 나는 산고를 치르는 여자와 같이 부르짖겠노라. 내가 단번에 멸망시키고 집어삼키겠노라.

14 I have long time holden my peace; I have been still, and refrained myself: now will I cry like a travailing woman; I will destroy and devour at once.

15 내가 산들과 언덕들을 불모지로 만들고 그들의 모든 풀잎들을 말려 버리겠노라. 또 나는 강들을 섬들로 만들겠노라. 또 나는 못들을 말려 버리겠노라.

15 I will make waste mountains and hills, and dry up all their herbs; and I will make the rivers islands, and I will dry up the pools.

16 그리고 나는 눈먼 자들을 그들이 몰랐던 길로 데려가겠노라. 내가 그들을 그들이 몰랐던 행로들로 이끌겠노라. 나는 그들 앞에서 어둠을 빛으로 만들고, 구부러진 것들을 곧게 하겠노라. 내가 이런 것들을 그들에게 행할 것이요, 그들을 저버리지 아니하겠노라.

16 And I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not; I will lead them in paths that they have not known: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them, and not forsake them.

17 ¶ 조각된 형상들을 신뢰하고 주조된 형상들에게 말하기를, “너희는 우리의 신들이라.” 하는 자들이 물러나게 될 것이요, 그들은 대단히 부끄러워하리라.

17 ¶ They shall be turned back, they shall be greatly ashamed, that trust in graven images, that say to the molten images, Ye are our gods.

18 너희, 귀먹은 자들아, 들으라. 그리고 너희, 눈먼 자들아, 너희가 알아볼 수 있도록 보라.

18 Hear, ye deaf; and look, ye blind, that ye may see.

19 나의 종 외에 눈먼 자가 누구냐? 또한 내가 보낸 나의 전령같이 귀먹은 자가 누구냐? 누가 완전한 자같이 눈멀었으며, 주의 종같이 눈멀었느냐?

19 Who is blind, but my servant? or deaf, as my messenger that I sent? who is blind as he that is perfect, and blind as the LORD'S servant?

20 많은 것들을 보면서도 너는 주시하지 않는도다. 두 귀를 열고 있으나 그가 듣지 아니하는도다.

20 Seeing many things, but thou observest not; opening the ears, but he heareth not.

21 주께서 그분의 의로 인하여 매우 기뻐하시는도다. 그분은 율법을 드높이시며 그것을 존귀하게 하시리라.

21 The LORD is well pleased for his righteousness' sake; he will magnify the law, and make it honourable.

22 그러나 이 백성은 강탈당하고 약탈당한 백성이로다. 그들은 모두 굴들 속에서 올무에 걸린 자들에 속하였으며, 감옥들 안에 숨겨졌도다. 그들이 먹이가 되어도 아무도 구출하지 않으며, 약탈물이 되어도 아무도 “반환하라.” 말하는 자가 없도다.

22 But this is a people robbed and spoiled; they are all of them snared in holes, and they are hid in prison houses: they are for a prey, and none delivereth; for a spoil, and none saith, Restore.

23 너희 가운데 누가 이 일을 귀담아듣겠느냐? 누가 다가올 때를 위하여 경청하고 듣겠느냐?

23 Who among you will give ear to this? who will hearken and hear for the time to come?

24 누가 야곱을 약탈물로 내주었으며, 이스라엘을 강도들에게 내주었느냐? 우리가 대적하여 죄를 지은 그분, 주께서 그리하지 아니하셨느냐? 이는 그들이 그분의 길들 가운데 살아가려 하지 아니하였으며, 그들이 그분의 율법에 순종하지도 아니하였기 때문이라.

24 Who gave Jacob for a spoil, and Israel to the robbers? did not the LORD, he against whom we have sinned? for they would not walk in his ways, neither were they obedient unto his law.

25 그러므로 그분께서 그의 위에 그분의 분노의 노여움과 전투의 힘을 쏟아부으셨도다. 그런즉 그것이 주위에서 그에게 불을 질렀는데 그럼에도 그는 몰랐도다. 또 그것이 그를 태웠는데 그럼에도 그가 그것을 마음에 두지 아니하였도다.

25 Therefore he hath poured upon him the fury of his anger, and the strength of battle: and it hath set him on fire round about, yet he knew not; and it burned him, yet he laid it not to heart.
