<To the chief Musician, A Psalm for the sons of Korah.>
1 너희, 모든 백성들아, 이것을 들으라. 너희, 세상의 모든 거주자들아, 귀담아들으라.
1 Hear this, all ye people; give ear, all ye inhabitants of the world:
2 낮은 자와 높은 자도, 부유한 자와 가난한 자도 함께 들으라.
2 Both low and high, rich and poor, together.
3 나의 입이 지혜에 관하여 말하리라. 또 나의 마음의 묵상이 명철에 속하리라.
3 My mouth shall speak of wisdom; and the meditation of my heart shall be of understanding.
4 나는 나의 귀를 비유에 기울이겠노라. 나는 나의 난해한 말을 하프 위에 펼치겠노라.
4 I will incline mine ear to a parable: I will open my dark saying upon the harp.
5 나의 두 발꿈치의 죄악이 나의 주위를 둘러쌀 때인 악의 날들에 어찌 내가 두려워하랴?
5 Wherefore should I fear in the days of evil, when the iniquity of my heels shall compass me about?
6 자신들의 부를 신뢰하는 자들과 자신들의 허다한 재물들을 자랑하는 자들은
6 They that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches;
7 그들 중에 아무도 어떤 방식으로든 자신의 형제를 구속할 수 없으며, 그를 위하여 하나님께 속량 값을 낼 수도 없으니,
7 None of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him:
8 (이는 그들의 혼의 구속이 귀하고, 그것이 영원토록 그치기 때문이라.)
8 (For the redemption of their soul is precious, and it ceaseth for ever:)
9 그로 하여금 계속해서 영원토록 살게 하고 부패를 보지 아니하도록 할 자가 아무도 없도다.
9 That he should still live for ever, and not see corruption.
10 이는 지혜로운 사람들이 죽는 것과, 마찬가지로 어리석고 짐승 같은 인물이 목숨을 잃고 그들의 부를 다른 이들에게 남기는 것을 그가 보기 때문이라.
10 For he seeth that wise men die, likewise the fool and the brutish person perish, and leave their wealth to others.
11 그들은 내심, 자신들의 집들이 영원토록 지속되고 자신들의 거주지들이 모든 세대들에 이를 줄로 생각하는도다. 그들은 자신들의 토지들을 자기 자신들의 이름들을 따라 부르는도다.
11 Their inward thought is, that their houses shall continue for ever, and their dwelling places to all generations; they call their lands after their own names.
12 그럼에도 불구하고 사람이 영예를 누릴지라도 계속 거하지는 못하는도다. 그는 멸망하는 짐승들과 같도다.
12 Nevertheless man being in honour abideth not: he is like the beasts that perish.
13 그들의 이러한 길은 그들의 우둔함이로다. 그럼에도 그들의 후대가 그들의 말들을 검증하는도다. 셀라.
13 This their way is their folly: yet their posterity approve their sayings. Selah.
14 그들은 양처럼 음부 속에 놓였도다. 사망이 그들을 먹을 것이라. 이후에 올바른 자들은 아침에 그들 위에 통치하리라. 그런즉 그들의 아름다움이 그들의 주거지에서 떠나 음부 속에서 소멸되리라.
14 Like sheep they are laid in the grave; death shall feed on them; and the upright shall have dominion over them in the morning; and their beauty shall consume in the grave from their dwelling.
15 그러나 하나님께서는 나의 혼을 음부의 권세에서 구속하시리라. 이는 그분께서 나를 받아들이실 것이기 때문이라. 셀라.
15 But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave: for he shall receive me. Selah.
16 누군가 부자가 되었을 때, 그의 집의 영광이 늘어났을 때 너는 무서워하지 말라.
16 Be not thou afraid when one is made rich, when the glory of his house is increased;
17 이는 그가 자신이 죽을 때 아무것도 옮겨 가지 못할 것이기 때문이라. 그의 영광은 그를 따라 내려가지 못하리라.
17 For when he dieth he shall carry nothing away: his glory shall not descend after him.
18 비록 그가 사는 동안 그가 자신의 혼을 축복하였을지라도 그러지 못하리라. 또 네가 너 자신에게 잘 행할 때 사람들이 너에게 찬사를 보내리라.
18 Though while he lived he blessed his soul: and men will praise thee, when thou doest well to thyself.
19 그가 그의 조상들의 세대에게 가리라. 그들은 결코 빛을 보지 못하리라.
19 He shall go to the generation of his fathers; they shall never see light.
20 영예 가운데 있어도 이해하지 못하는 사람은 멸망하는 짐승들과 같도다.
20 Man that is in honour, and understandeth not, is like the beasts that perish.
