<A Song of degrees for Solomon.>
1 주께서 그 집을 건축하지 아니하시면 그 집을 건축하는 자들은 헛되이 수고하는 것이라. 주께서 도시를 지켜 주지 아니하시면 파수꾼이 깨어 있어도 헛될 뿐이라.
1 Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.
2 일찍 일어나는 것도, 늦게까지 앉아 있는 것도, 슬픔들의 빵을 먹는 것도 너희에게 헛되도다. 이는 그분께서 그분의 사랑을 받는 자에게 이처럼 잠을 주시기 때문이라.
2 It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.
3 보라, 자식들은 주의 상속 재산이요, 태의 열매는 그분의 보상이라.
3 Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.
4 마치 화살들이 막강한 남자의 손에 있듯이 젊은 시절의 자식들이 그와 같도다.
4 As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth.
5 자기 화살통이 그들로 가득한 사람은 행복하도다. 그들은 부끄러워하지 아니할 것이요, 오히려 그들이 대문에서 원수들을 상대하여 말하리라.
5 Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.
